  2. When you go to hardbait section there should be an advertising banner at the top of the page, click there and it will take you to it.
  3. If it was a Rapala DT series it was the bait for sure and not the clear coat.Me and my fishing partner broke several getting weeds off until we figured out it was the Rapalas. That is one fish catching crank, just don't know why they can't make a good sturdy bill...Robert
  4. I tried to upload some pics to the gallery and it said my pics were too big.I use Photobucket, and it tells what size(600x800 ,400x600 ect.)but not in KB,how can I tell how big they are in KB...Robert

    Dicknites ?

I am going to order a sample of DN but they ask what kind I wanted. So, thats my question which one do I need to order, the Fishurmans Lure Coat or the Clear Top Coat for sealing and top coating my crankbaits. Also do you guys use it on wood and plastic baits? I haven't tried it yet so how should I apply it,can I use it to seal and top coat.I am going to dip my baits if I can,any tricks or tips for this stuff,thanks...Robert
  6. I just signed a contract on another house, and it has a detached shop.I just can't wait to get in and get an airbrush setup.Been using these rattle cans long enough.I may have to stick with them,I have never used an airbrush and don't have a clue about them.It should be fun learning to use one,I hope.Anyone need to buy a house in Al.,if I don't sell the one i'm in there won't an airbrush or anything else for that matter,I may have to really sell some baits. All joking aside I just can't wait to try to get just close to the level that some of you on here are at,you have all been a key part in my learning a new hobby, pasttime, love, craving, sickness, addiction...what ever you want to call it.It may be sometime before I get back on here on a regular basis, until I get settled in and all the honey dues completed, but i'll be back and I'M BRINGING HELL WITH ME!!!!!Sorry, just a line from my favorite western...Robert
  7. Great looking baits,I hope my first attempt with an airbrush looks that good....Robert
  8. I'll second the netting at Wal Mart. The larger size that I got was a bit stiff, made from something different than the small one.The guys that airbrush say to wash it and keep using it,but in the Rattle Can world of painting you use it once and throw it away...Robert
  9. Now I did manage to catch that day the smallest bass I think I have ever caught. It was about 1/2 in longer than the Splash-It,but I counted it,it was a LM Bass. KB Co.,I am going to get back to youon painting those baits, just been busy and will be back to work Wed. night.I usually don't get on much when i'm not at work...Robert
  10. Thanks for the help, that cleared it up.It took me a week to think about this and find the answer, like I said I forget alot:huh:....Robert Just a thought, but have you ever thought about a "back to list "tab to click on?
  11. What kind of hooks did you use and did they affect the action any?
  12. Oh yea, I forgot to tell you, thats another perk of my job:p.I really don't do much at home right now I don't have a shop.House hunting for now,and I am definetly looking for one with a good shop or a place to build one.We also have sattelite tv:yeah:,I usually turn it on,mute it and get on here or build lures. When I get tired of that I go downstairs to my "paint booth" and get with it. Oh and I just saw a video of a guy setting down a drawbridge on a ship,I do that and I will need a job from some one sanding lures or something.I won't fish on the job,I promise:nono: I just put a drill bit in an exacto handle and done it by hand.I have my Dremel with me,don't know why I didn't use it.Well my "work" has to involve a little "work".I can't wait to see how this Cypress swims.
  13. The first one is just a RC(rattle can,you know me) repaint on an old bait. The other is a design that me and a guy is working on.It is made out of Cypress,I have it sealed now with a Circuit board bill and can't wait to test.I'll post results when I get to test it...Robert
  14. The Splash-It spits water instead of popping or "blooping" mimicking fleeing shad much better and also will walk the dog. Some people work on thier Pop-R's shaving the bottom lip a little to stop the popping.I have a old Popper of some brand(I found it) it had been repainted and I repainted it black and worked on the lip,it was in one of my posts on repaints.I can't wait until next Wed.,i'm going to try her out.The Splash-It I throw is bone and grey bars on the side with a little glitter on the bottom.I have good luck on a black buzzbait(Lunker Lure Flat Shad) so why not a black Splash-It. Oh,and you just had to "steal my thunder" didn't you with those Smallmouth(small ones I might add).Bet you didn't catch yours at work No,No, just messing with you, those are sweet.Hope this happens to all of us again....Robert
  15. I got my old crappy Camera here at work, the wife has the good one.And guards it from me since I kinda got all her settings messed up the last time I used it(without permission:().I'll try again later tonight or tomorrow....Robert Sorry about the double post, don't know how to delete it.
  16. They do seem to all go away, but not always. Your first post indicated that the later bubbles were just like the tiny ones initially mixed into the clear-coat-- only larger. That sounds like bubbles in the clear. Subsequent solvent outgassing of the paint will cause delamination, and often blisters, but bubbles are usually there from the beginning. Like Mark said, I hope you can manange a pic or two. That will clear up the mystery
  17. Man thats a great looking lure repaint.I am about half way through painting an old square billed Norman shallow runner the very same color.Except for the glitter coat of course.I love that blue and black. If you dont mind me asking how do you paint your eyes on,it looks like half is on the shoulder and half is on the top..Robert
  18. Couldn't get any good pics of them. This is on a DD22(plastic)not wood.I examined that bait very close when I got done and these bubbles were not there, they would have been easy to see, some are on the Chartreuse stripe and 3 or 4 fairly large ones on the very top. These are not all the way through the clear,it is still smooth.I mixed the fire out of that D2T like everyone said and it did have the tiny bubbles in it and they all seem to go away after I brushed it on.However I didn't applie heat to the D2T to help draw out air.Do I need to even on a plastic bait?Any way,I bought a few more colors today ,almost got as much in paint as I could have been close to getting an airbrush setup:lol:.I figured out how to make a pearl color, after I paint the color I want I just hold the bait out away from me and lightly dust it with a silver mettalic and wala,it gets that ever so lightly shimmer to it..Thanks for the help, maybe i'll get right.....Robert
  19. I'll get back to you in a little while Mark,I am going to try an take a pic of it...Robert
  20. I got a chance to walk down the sidewalk along the river when I got to work this morning. It runs beside a few boat slips with riprap lining the bank. Some how I forgot and brought a rod and reel to work,(as I know I shouldn't) .Had to say that.I dought it, but some on here my think it is wrong to fish while you are on the clock.Anyhow I caught ten largemouth and done something I haven't done amd that was I caught two at the same time.I was throwing a Don Iovino Splash-It (by far my favorite topwater lure) on an old Shimano Speedmaster rod with a (Green) Curado reel .Had one on the front hook and one on the back. One would go about 2 1/2 lbs and the other about 1 pound or so.And no,before anyone asks I didn't have a camera,so you can believe me or not. Some of you i'm sure have done that but that was a first for me.Oh,and all that was in about 45 mins. When I am on my regular job (repairing our bridges) we some times work around some good ol swampy waters, and my boss knows, any time I am around water I will have a rod with me(to use whan I am on break of course).Have a good day at your job, suckaaaas ...Robert
  21. I didn't apply two coats of D2T,but I cleared all the first ones I done with Clear Glaze(remember I only use the cans). After I thought it would not dry as hard as D2T I applied a coat of it over the CG, but that was the only one that did it.It was on the "Cute Shad" pattern I done,:cry:and I was soooooo proud of it and have some to do for some other guys.I have to figure it out before I try to do some for someone else.I may try the DN clear..Thanks guys
  22. Academy Sports, but I don't think you can buy online, though i'm not sure. I bought a few of the shallow diving square bills when they first came out and I like them.Going to buy more when I can get to an AcademySports, the nearest one is 2 1/2 hrs.away,North or South...Robert
  23. I was showing my "cute shad "pattern to a club member and noticed some bubbles in the D2T clear coat. And today looked at it again and there are more on the side. There were some very, very tiny bubbles after I was done with the clear but not like this.It has been about two weeks I guess since it was done.Anyone have a clue?Anddo you dip your lures in the dick nites clear, thought about trying that...Robert
  24. I tried to get the price list on the website but it would not pull up.I am about to order some hooks for old baits and some for my new carvings.I didn't know you had to have a business lic. to buy from him,so it really doesn't matter about the price list.It said individuals could buy from their affiliate Capt.hook, are their prices alot higher.Where would a single man plug maker like me get the best deals?I have ask this before, but on 2 to 3 in. bass cranks what would be the best all around hook, and size of snap ring(stainless or not?).I know this is going to stir the minds of the hook Gods, but there are so many good hooks out there,I know some would be over kill for this application. Also, what co. makes the T'd hooks and could you use them on all lures plastic and wood? Oh and sorry for the long post and repetative questions. So please be gentle, it's not like I posted on a new "State Record Bass". The poor guy, leave him alone already:lol:
  25. Not trying to highjack a thread here, but where do you get the foam mix and what is it called exactly?Looks like something I would like to try..Robert
