  1. I have had some trouble today with the paint wrinkling up.I do my eyes with a drill bit dipped in the paint, and some today just wrinkled up when applied. For now I just spray in a small container and dip,I am going to get some bottle paint and try that.Hope this helps, because with rattle cans if you mess up one thing the whole thing is junk.No washing it off and starting over....Robert
  2. No, NO 6 feet I may be the one assuming the wrong thing. You are right about that,I usually think like you do.Oh and by the way, too bad anyone can't get that clear.Keep whittlin and painting!!!....Robert
  3. Mr J I would love to see pics, and I think everyone would. If I can show my rattle can jobs then anyone can show .Don't underestimate your ability, thats what I was told here and posted them and some really liked them, heck I even got a PM from someone wanting to buy some.Come on, show us what you got!!!
  4. If you have seen my posts on my rattle can paint jobs, they are Krylon. You can get it anywhere,I get mine at Walmart.
  5. If I have this wrong please disregard this reply. The paints that I am using are just regular spray enamel (Krylon)that you get at Wal Mart.I may have misunderstood your reply but I think he was refering to what I used on the Bluegill and Cute Shad. RBASS57,the clear I used at first was Krylon Clear Glaze. It is extremely clear but don't know how durable it is.If you want you can PM me I will be glad to help in any way.Not that what I do is rocket science or even close to the Airbruhers on here.If it wasn't for the help I got on here I would'nt be able to do any of this,so I am more than happy to help....Robert
  6. 6 Feet, what is the spray clear,if you don't mind me asking and can anyone get it.The D2T dries hard and isn't too hard to work with, but I would like a spray clear if I could find one that is as good. The clear glaze is extremely clear and easy to use but after several days you can take your fingernail and dent it a little.I'm going to throw some that just have it on them and see how it holds up.The spray would just be easier for me since I have to be mobil with my "paint booth",I do it mostly at work.Just on my breaks of course:whistle:...Robert
  7. They look great, can't wait to get me an airbrush.I'm still using the old rattle cans...Robert
  8. I have a friend that is a cabinet builder and he saves the scrap for me.He uses all kinds,so I never know what i'll get next. And usually the pieces are about two to three in. wide and 3/4 to 1 in thick, just right...Robert

    Lurh Jensen Craw

Looks very good, love that red craw .Keep up the good work.
  10. I ask a site usage question on this forum ,I think it was yesterday. It was about going back to main list of threads after you post or read several pages instead of having to click back through every page you just read.I think you may have moved it.If so,how do you find posts that have been moved .I know I ask it again on Hardbaits ,sorry if I dont ask it here i'll never get my answer because I hardly ever remember to go to the other forums for my answers after I post there....Thanks Robert
  11. I haven't done a lot like this, but I brushed it on and put my watch in front of me and turned them every minute for about 10 min.Kind of a pain but I don't have a wheel yet so I have to make due, besides I have 12hrs a shift to kill. This is what I do,the other guys watch t.v. most of the time.I am just filling in for now,I am use to real work.I am on Maintenance of our bridges. It would drive me crazy to just sit here.Oh,and sometimes I forget :whistle:and leave a rod or two in my truck and somehow it makes it to the bank for a little fishing around the first pier. It is a little tricky or atleast for me to keep the stencils still, but you can spray at an angle with the stencil lifted a little and get the faded look. You are right about the sharp edged lines.I found that out on the first two or three I done.
  12. Thanks,I use Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy. You have to mix it real good to get good results, just apply it with an elcheapo art brush and it levels itself and you have to turn it so it won't run.I have used Krylon Clear Glaze,it works good and looks awesome after several coats.I don't think it dries as hard as D2T.
  13. I appreciate The Love i'm getting over this Bluegill.Just started this a month or so back and already have enough lures from local guys to keep me busy all spring.I really love this painting, although it has put a halt to my carving of lures.I am going to do one(or attempt to do one) for a friend of mine,I may try to video it.The only thing is,I do all mine at work and I work by myself(I operate the drawbridge in my avatar)but I may try it...Thanks,Robert
  14. Guys I swear I am using rattle cans from WalMart, the $2.97 cans not the .99 cent ones.(Only the best paints for me )I just take alot of time, cut out stencils and play around with it.I appreciate all the good coments on the bluegill, but for realism does it look close enough to the reaL deal to keep painting this pattern.I just kinda throwed that one together...Robert
  15. Captsully, yes I used the same netting under the foil that I paint scales with.I thought that was the way you guys did it,if I am doing it wrong let me know.
  16. Spike-A-Pike those guys that do the train art are much better than me. They can actually draw and paint,me I can barely paint something already made or drawn.
  17. Here is my attempt at a Bluegill pattern with the cans.I looked at alot of pics in the gallery and of real photos and this is what I came up with.Don't know if I could duplicate it,this one was a PITA to do. Couldn't get a good pic of it cleared but I tried.Although being a little different, the other one is a take off from a sexy shad. You might just call it a "Cute Shad".Also there is a better pic of the Jitterbug I revitalized...Robert http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/rlcam20/Repaints/Repaints251-2.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/rlcam20/Repaints/Repaints221-1.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/rlcam20/Repaints/Repaints277-1.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/rlcam20/Repaints/Repaints273.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/rlcam20/Repaints/Repaints268.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj22/rlcam20/Repaints/S3010087.jpg
  18. Yes, Spike-A-Pike I am still using the rattle cans, but not for long I hope. Diemai, thanks for the good feed back. The foiled one is a Stanford that the paint cracked on,I just took the bill out before I started. These are great around riprap, and thats what I patterned my own after(with a little mod's).All of my Stanfords cracked,I guess it was the way they prepped the cedar before painting. CampionBoatGuy thanks for the kind words.I get my scale material from walmart in the craft dept. They have a couple different sizes. Mark thanks again,I seem to be able to count on you for good feedback(you must feel sorry for me ).I started out using Krylon Clear Glaze and clear coated all these but I didn't think it was going to be hard enough for rocks,it dried pretty hard though. So I thought I would give the D2T a try. These have D2T over the clear glaze. I have got a few more I am going to post including a Bluegill pattern that I tried...Robert
  19. The first two are my first attempt at foiling.I used stick glue and foil paper from a gift bag.The others are some of my first repaints that I posted before, just took some better pics. All criticism (good or bad) welcome.Still using the old rattle cans....Robert I painted these for a friend at work. The one on the right is supposed to look like a trout that he showed me in Bassmaster mag. Pop-R ,modified lower jaw,so it will spit instead of pop. Repaints Coming soon....more repaints I just can't stop, anyone have any extra lures
  20. Can anyone tell me anything about these. They haveCharlie O hand written under the bill. The paper in the box says 7721 Castleton Lane,Columbia,S.C.A friend of mine bought a tacklebox full of cranks from a guy and wasjust curious as to what they may be worth, if anything. They areplastic baits with the bill molded in,they don't lookvery old, butI have never seen any like them.Pics are a little blurry, the wife won't let me bring her good camera to work...Robert
  21. I haven't been able to come here for several days and been trying to catch up.Why do we feel we have to read every post that was posted while we were away?It has taken me about two hours and what about that epoxy post...man.Thought for a moment this place had gotten all shook up while I was gone. Not trying to get it started again, just trying to stay awake at work,it's 3:16 A.M. here in Alabama. Got some new pics to post, maybe i'll get them on here tonight. If everyone is like me, its like( porn to a pervert),just can't wait to see new pics of lures.
  22. I think someone on here posted a pic of something like that a while back.Don't remember who though.I too thought it was a cool trick to do with paint,I think I will try it also...Robert
  23. Yes,just buy some cheap art brushes and throw away after you are done.I have cleaned one before and used it again. The only thing is I got some fibers from the brush on my plug. You can however take pliers and crimp the end a bit more to help that...Robert
  24. The last time I removed a lip it was very easy.First buy a new plug, then go fishing, and on your third cast(with new plug)hit a small rock ever so lightly and you will be amazed at how easy it is.I'm sorry but I had to vent about it to someone, five bucks gone in about eight minutes.I have removed one with a razor blade and exacto.Just run the blade on top and bottom, and wiggle it a bit...Robert
