Ok Guys... Got my first order of DN yesterday and have a question. I was planning on using an old Spaghetti sauce jar as the container. I have Argon to spray in but I am worried about the little rubber gasket on the lid... anyone ever try this storage medium? any ideas if it will work or be a problem? Please speak up!!!

Ya Im not really the betting type Bob. hehe.... Think I will stick with Bloxygen untill I hear it works with DN. If anyone has tried or experimented with anything else please let us know the results!

Hey Guys, Just wondering if anyone has tried using the compressed air you buy to dust off computer parts. I just read that some woodworkers use it and it works for them on oils and varnishes. It doesnt contain Oxygen but I dont know if the gasses it does contain are heavier than air like Argon. I also know that it is not inert so it could react to the DN. Thoughts? Hello Rich and Welcome... You are on the right track. Ebay and Tackle shops are a good start. Think about buying ad space on sites like this one and other forums that relate to fishing. Also try sponsoring a few anglers that will use your baits in tournaments to get word of mouht.

If you are looking to go cheap then I use walmart brand spray paint for all my basecoats then airbrush over top of them. They are $0.97 a can for 12oz and work fine. Just not very many colors.

Let me know how that joint works out for you. I messed around with the idea of having the "V" reversed like that but never could get it to swim right. I think it traps the vorticies and doesnt distribute them thus not havin a swiming action. I though I could drill blow through holes to let the water pass through but never took it to that point.

Hey guys, I am thinking about making a 2 part Silicone mold of a swimbait I created. I want to then cast resin in it to reproduce the bait. There are a bunch of products out there and feedback is greatly appreciated. I have heard good things about Featherlight and Alumilite. I like the idea of Featherlite and not mixing in Micro ballons. I have heard that resin's, Featherlite and alumilite, are not that durable. So here are some of my questions; 1. Has anyone made swimbaits with any type of resin that they can comment on? 2. If your throwing a heavy swimbait out there is it gonna crack or break from the abuse? 3. I heard some people use Bondo... anyone have experience with that? 4. I know JSJ swimbaits are resin but anyone know what kind? 5. Is there another product you guys could reccomend? 6. Is there a Cheaper product that I could experiment with from like Home Depot or Lowes? Your help is always appreciated. And I did do research but its always good to get a fresh outlook on things. I too have this problem of D2T curing fast. I cannot do a whole swimbait with 4-5 pieces, instead I just do half at a time. If I dont by the time I get to the last pieces its starting to set. I use the syringe D2T so I know I am getting equal parts... I mix for 30 seconds to a minute with a brush in a medicine cup...then proceed to spread. I feel like I get 5 minutes after that till it starts to set and is unuseable. Just what I have experienced. I do live in the bay area with a warmer climate tho. I have never tried anything else But from what I hear I think its time to get some DN's and try that!

So true.... I went out on my dock last night and caught a few of them buggers.. More orange than I expected. But the CA Delta is pretty murky. Lucky to have 5ft visibility so like you said brighter colors. Guess thats why red works so darn good out here! So what colors do you guys lay first after the white? Am I close in my attempt?

Here is a shot from the bottom.... I want to make a RTV mold and start pouring these with resign. From my research it doesnt look to be that hard and would save a lot of time. Anyone have any experience with this where they would like to share any experiences and/or the roadblocks?

I am just a novice at this and appreciate the support, guidance and hospitality everyone on here has shown.

Hi Guys, I have been attempting a bluegill for awhile now and while i get decent results they are not exactly what I want or up to par IMO. I did a search and looked in the Hardbait Cookbook but couldnt find what I am looking for. If anyone wants to lay out Mix portions and steps that would be greatly appreciated. That way I can figure out what I am doing wrong. My usual mess starts like this; 1. 3-4 coats of white base 2. Createx gold all over heavier in the shoulders and lighter near belly 3. Tiger stripe scaling with a rootbeerish color done over mesh all the way up to the top 4. Blend top and shoulders with a darker color black usually 5. Some light blue around the gils and maybe some purple 6. Createx flo orange the belly I am a novice Airbrusher so any ideas and help is appreciated!

I have used the Lacquer thinner and plastic cup method for awhile now... seems to work ok but thinned devcon is the best IMHO.

I have a POP mold for em.... but they arent "PERFECT". if you want just give me your adress and ill send you a couple. I dont think the 40 cent postage will kill me! But they are just the regular ones from a 7inch TT. you have to trim them down to size because i make the shaft extra long for some of my other baits.

I have been using the virgin lacquer thinner and cup method for awhile now and never had a problem with cracking. When i am really impatient I can even test 3-4hrs after dipping if its warm out. i guess its all in the ratio used IDK tho! I havent tried the pellets yet mainly cause im too cheap but have heard nothing but good things about them. D2T thinned works really well too!

Ok dumb question but something i have been wondering for awhile now.... Can i use a rattle can to prime my baits then go and paint them with a water based paint like Createx(i actually use apple barrel from walmart)? I am pretty sure the oil based rattle can paint will not work with a water based paint but just thought i would ask as it would save some time!

Corey, I dont know why it would take that long but for me to do a swimbait @ about 10 inches and multiplpe sections it only takes 5 - 10 minutes... I use D2T Epoxy... mix it in a pill cup and apply with a FLUX brush. The Flux brush is the cheapest disposable brush i have found and it has about 1/2inch surface area. Other than that i dont thin it or anything. I get some bubbles here and there but if your worried a light sanding and another coat and it is golden. Hope that helps!
