  1. Guys i know the process of obtaining the material for the molds themselves. I'm looking for some detail on from that point on. The whole process of dippping is confusing to me. I understand pouring them but dipping, help me out here.
  2. Alright guys call me stupid but help me out here. Once you make the rigs what do you do from here. Is this a more than one dip process. I can only assume that you just peal the plastic off the rods once you have a decent layer. Please help us googuns out will you please.
  3. Thanks for the quick response's and opinions. Now i have another question who's is better in quality DM or Bobs TS when it comes down to matching the detail of a Senko.
  4. Can someone provide me with some feedback on what they recommend on Senko style molds. I have looked at Aluminum RTV S and others just somefeed back on what and where i should start.
  5. I have always fished the Regular DT but i do change my hooks. The DT6 DT10 and DT16 all have their place. I hate the hooks that come on them and have alkways change them out to an extra wide gap style for a more closed hook. I have been doing this for over two years now, and my hook to land ratio has encreased 10 fold. Attached is one of my best on the DT. 27 1/2 inch trout that went 7 1/2 pounds. I never would have guessed that i would have landed a trout when bass fishing but hey i'll take a fish like this any day.
  6. What ever you do do not freeze the fish. They will not even consider it if it has been frozen. I do agree with the guys in the super market deal. I have also landed several 18 to 21 1/2 and never pulled anything over 4 1/2 pounds in that range. My best smallie went 22 1/4 and 5 pounds 10 oz. I did have a rep made of this fish from a guy in Tenn. She turned out real nice. The rep last a lot longer than the real deal. And like the one guy stated the larger fish put off some many YOY. I do promote a slective harvest, i think we need to harvest some of the smaller fish so that the lake can manage itself in the bait fish side of things. Alot of lakes have so many fish that they seem real thin. I think this has to do with the amount of fish in the lake. They only have so many bait fish and they are all compeating for them. I know in fisherman promotes keeping some for eating and C&L the bigs ones. It takes so long for a smallie to reach that size that if we do not release them our kids will never have a chance at a trophy.
  7. I'm in the process of starting to pour my own plastics and have some general questions to help me start off the the right direction. Aluminum or plastic molds for Senko's style baits which is better for detail to minmic Gary's baits the best for fall, action and size (Taper ends)? I mainly use the 3", 4" & 5" sizes for smallies. Types of plastic, just looking for opinions on what you guys like and don't like. Thers are so many different type of plastic don't know what to go with. I know it's probably like beer but just figured i would ask. Microwave or stove top? I'm also looking for a fluke style bait the doesn't have the slit in the bait for the hook. The ones i like to use used to be that way and they all seam to have the hook slit. I have found that the whole body holds up better for me. Thermometer candy or point and shoot lazer for temp reads. Tips on pouring lam's. I have looked over several threads that states a heat gun is the way to go. I don't want to be rushed to get the second color in and i think from you guys the heat gun method would be the way to go for me and my son. I have also seen some swirled senkos in the gallery and was wondering how you guys pull that off. Any other tips and tools you guys can share would be great. I have some of the tools and just need to finilize a list so that he and i can get started and have something to do this winter when it snows and there is nothing better to do. If i need to steel my wife Microwave and get her a new one i don't think she will mind. If the burner is the way to go then thats i another story. I was also wondering how it's done in the MW. If you have to sture the plastic constantly then how can you do that in a MW the way you could on the stove top. Just looking for some help and advise.
