  2. Hey guys just me again. If any of you have read my previous posts you will know that I am working on that float rod. Thank you once again for the great responses. The blank is looking good. I am at the point where I want to start to glue some cork rings together and turn a handle for this rod. I have built handles in the past however I would like to put a checker board pattern in a few spots. I have tried different home made jigs and I have even tried measuring and cutting by hand with no sucsess. Do any of you guys have any suggestions on how to make this pattern and make it look good. Thanks once again for the relpies. Mark
  3. Hey guys Thanks for the tip to heat up the blank and use a credit card to activate and remove the epoxy. I did manage to get 95 percent of the epoxy off. The last 5 percent is spotty glue areas. The blank is a matte gray. Does anyone have any other ideas for getting this bit of spotting off. Any ideas are really appreciated. Thank you. Mark
  4. Hello Matt The blank is an G Loomis 13 foot IMX. It is quite a nice blank it just needs some TLC. Thanks alot for the tips.
  5. Hello, What I would do is get a pair of needle nose pliars and a lighter. Gently grab your broken tip with the needle nose and give it a little heat with the lighter. Gently pull on it as you give it the heat. It should pop off. This way you can put it in your pocket and take it with you to get a new one matched up. I hope this helps.
  6. Hey Guys I am in need of a little expert help. I was given a G Loomes IMX rod that someone has already built. Unfortunatly I dont think it turned out the way they anticipated(probably why I have it). I have been building rods for about 4 years but I have never really ran across anything like this. Is there anything that i can use on the epoxy on the guides that will re-activate so I can strip it off without damaging or scratching the blank. I would like to strip it completly and start from scratch. I was also wondering where I can (or if I can) get another label for it? I think when this guy tried to build it he wipped the label with some sort of cleaner and it smudged all the lettering. If you guys have and suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much for any ideas. Tight lines. Mark
  7. Hello I am new to this website but I find the information here is unbelievable. Some of the lures you guys make are out of this world. I am a rod builder who for some time has wanted to tinker with lure making. I would like to make crank baits and glide baits mainly. I love musky and pike fishing. I am wondering where to start? What type of tools will I need? Is there a book or a cd that shows some basic patterns to get started or is just alot of trial and error. Any help would really be appreciated. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you guys. Thank you
