  1. If you are using a rubber silicone mold try this, spray the molds with primer first, I use metal etch primer, works great and no holes. Wayne
  2. I wish we would just say what we want to say (NIP, LOL and others) not sure if LOL is lots of love or lots of luck. I don't text so I just guess what I think it means. You had me on NIP. HAGD. Wayne
  3. First what type of lure, wood or plastic and how many at a time. For plastic small bass type lures I would use something like KBS , E-Tex would be to heavy on small plastic lures, same goes for small wooden lures. If you are doing a few at a time E-Tex is faster then the Flex coat which is too long for me in between coats, as soon as my E-Tex is tacky ( I make musky lures) I start the next coat. Like all just mix them right and use the lure turner. Wayne
  4. I use alumilite white plastic and have no problems with my musky lures. Maybe you are using to much micro balloons or other type of filler. wayne
  5. Go to the Wire Baits you should find what you want there. Wayne
  6. Boy that guy is fast!!! Wayne
  7. I am sure that there are a lot of company's that would do what you want done in the USA, that said quantity is always the problem in order to make any money for them. It would be nice if we could get together some how and maybe combine orders to make up the quantity, I realize that that would be hard to do, maybe like a co-op. So keep looking and maybe you will find what you are looking for, or a company just might see the need in this country for what you and many others are looking for. Wayne
  8. I never heard of "Flame Polishing" so I will try that, I did use dipping in acetone and it would fog in some places. I do put the lip in last, the ones with the protective paper are always the best but some I purchase are without it. One other thing is that I am cutting the lip slot last since I went to plastic so I hang them from the tail. I even tried spraying them with clear coat it just doesn't look that good. Dipping in KBS good on small lures but musky lures not so good. I will look into "Flame Polishing" . Thanks guys Wayne
  9. Just need some thoughts on keeping the lexan lips clean and like new through the processing of the lure. Besides tape. just getting to many scratches, or what do you use to keep them shiny and clean. Wayne
  10. If you are going to make just a few lures then go with the two above, but if you plan on making a lot of lures then purchase the lip first close to what you want in the size of the lure you are making then all you need is a small adjustment to the size of the of the lure to fit the lip. Saves you a lot of work and the lips are always the same. Wayne
  11. When you put the etex on how did you hang the lure, if by the lip then the etex might have just ran to the tail, one more try a different finish coat a lighter one. Wayne
  12. Dale SW Just Great advice! I sprayed epoxy thinned and it is not healthy, dipping or brushing is better. Still need a exhaust. Wayne

I know but I can't find anything on it East Coast vrs Etex Lite I have been using etex lite. Before I buy any thoughts on the difference Wayne
  14. I am thinking about making one out of wood and when I get all the bugs out I will go to plastic with rattle. I know it will change when I go to a plastic one but it should be close. 8" long that should be a challenge. I would think 1" wide would work. wayne
  15. Has anyone made any Lipless lures with good success in the size of around 6" and up. Just thinking of making some for this summer. Was there any problems with weight placement. Wayne
  16. Question: When you thin out a paint or a epoxy do you go by volume or by weight since the weight is different in all cases I know 20% is 20% but weight verses volume is not. Wayne
  17. One thing that I did I went to the local saw sharpening place and had a square blade tip saw made and made it to the width I needed for the lip thickness, and made it a few thousands wider for play in putting in the lip. It left the bottom of the lip area square which helps in keeping the lip also square with lure. At the time the blade cost $60.00 and I am still using it. One other thing measure from the lip to the back of the lure for accuracy, when you turn down a lure unless it is perfect center to center it will be off. One other I was cutting cedar so I put tape over the area that I was cutting, kept from chipping out. Hope this helps in one way or another. Wayne
  18. I use one that bonds to plastic. You will just have to find out how much micros you will need, Wayne
  19. I use alumilite with micro balloons and have no problems, just have to get the right formula or mixture, I make musky lures 8.5 inches. Since you need weight to keep them down the only reason for balloons would be to save on resin. One thing that must be done is to use a primer sprayed in the molds before pouring keeps the small bubbles out. Wayne I use one that bonds to plastic. 21. I was at Wal-Mart and I was looking at nail polish when a little girl came up to me with her mother looking at something else and she said "you are not suppose to be looking at nail polish" and I explained what it was for and her mother just burst out laughing along with me. The little girl said I was weird. It made my day. Wayne
  22. I am just starting to use shrink tubing and it looks like it will work great. I received 3 different sizes 3", 2.5" and 3/4" clear it seems a little costly but with the end results is what is going to count. I will let you how it goes. Wayne
