  1. While I have not tried this, try taking either scan or off the web and do a color seperation of the picture and print out each color seperation. Yellow, Cyan and megenta. You will have to set up your printer for this its not hard, it might give you a idea on how to paint your lure, will try this myself later today. Just a suggestion. If it works I will post. Wayne
  2. Thanks Anglinarcher for the info. I a artingt mke myre molds. I will start with the 620 foam. Wayne
  3. What about the foam material used like 320 Alumilite. Wayne
  4. I stick the eyes on the before I epoxy I use a hair dryer on them softens the eye and the glue also and press firmly. No proplems. Wayne
  5. I would have to say that on a question like this that you say what size lure, and what type of wood you are using. Wayne
  6. You know I just will do it and don't tell anyone that its in the bait not hard to figure that out. Thanks to all. Wayne
  7. Its just not worth it i'll just make for myself, stick with a weight in the back and one up front, why always be looking over my shoulder too old for that, and if I got a lawyer in a boat well I better not say some of you guys just might be lawyers. Thanks to all, great video Diemai. Wayne
  8. Here it is, A fishing lure with a movable weight system is provided to allow the angler to change the center of gravity of the lure depending upon whether the angler is casting or retrieving. First Claim 1. A fishing lure, comprising:a lure body having an interior channel oriented longitudinally within said body;a plurality of weights configured for movement along said interior channel of said body;a lock mechanism configured to move along said interior channel in conjunction with said plurality of weights; anda retractable boss positioned within said lock mechanism, said boss having an extended position for securing the position of said lock mechanism at the front of the lure during retrieval of the lure and a retracted position for allowing said lock mechanism to move to the rear of the lure for casting. I could not show the picture. Wayne
  9. Thanks guys I think I will forget that idea and just use a inplace weight. I will check out the patent but I am not going to mess with the big boys, not worth it. Maybe just for myself. Thanks again Wayne
  10. Nathan I really did'nt think so Thanks! I think I will go ahead with my plans for my musky bait, which I hope to make out of a foam, lots of testing to do, first the mold. Wayne
  11. Thanks rock I guess all is going to happen when I start to try out some of the mixes. I don't have much time because of humidity which plays havoc with plastic pours. It seems that pouring time is between Sept. through March or April. As far as screws its a toss up with through wire, through wire is a little cheaper but it takes time to make. I am looking for these small flat washers that I can screw in a .092 screw the type they use on auto body and that would reinforce the screw. Don't know what they call them but I'll check out today. One other question do you put in the lips first or last. Good luck with your project. Wayne
  12. Nathan Yes thats what I am talking about.
  13. Does anyone know if there is a patent on the sliding weight in a musky lure. Wayne
  14. Rock Featherlite has the micro ballons already mixed in it I am also looking at trying to mix the 320 foam with 610 they say you can do it. It will take a little or more than a little testing this summer to get what I want. Which is a good easy pour musky bait. Just wondering did you use screws or wire through. Wayne
  15. Thanks Mark but the pouring will be done over a six month time period. Its a matter of money I don't want to get to far ahead and look at them sitting there looking at me. Wayne
  16. Ok I know that this was talked about but most of the talk is about bass baits. I would like to cast a 8" musky bait. with Featherlite or Alumilite not sure which one yet. I make my lure out of cedar now. I would like to make many, maybe 300 to 500 a year so any suggestions before I start on this project. I am also thinking of having a aluminum mold made but silicone will do for now till al testng i done. It would be a two part mold and would like to make it wire through, plus if I could put the lip in also, not sure on that. Any thoughts. Wayne ravenlures
  17. I use a large punch and put them on a vise opened just enough for the punch to go through, works great. Wayne
  18. Try Lure Parts Online I bought some spinnerbaits and I will never pour my own again. They will even make want you want of your own special spinner, just ask them. Wayne
  19. Mark I would belive that the lighter blade which I have noticed that it spins faster as soon as it hits the water, on the other hand it seems that the heaver ones take a good jerk to get it going, but since everything is frozen I can't do much now. Smalljaw would know better than me. I will try both as soon as I see open water in the end of March. Wayne
  20. Metalworks Stamping Corp. has a 4" blade made from .032 thick, but he has other blades, not too many sizes or styles but they are made from SS but if asked I bet he would stamp them out of aluminum. I will have to ask him about it. Wayne
  21. Are we saying that painted blades are better if aluminum because of weight or painted nickel. I am going to be making about 30 spinnerbaits and was thinking of painted aluminum blades because of the weight. Wayne
  22. Smalljaw Are you saying that you stay away from painted blades. Wayne
  23. Just wondering if any of you have used this Alumifoam with good success. Would like to try on a 8" musky lure. Wayne
  24. Well all that has been said I don't think I will get this GST, it seems to have some sort of a problem one way or another. Sticky or to long to cure, what will be the long range effects. So I will keep on with etex something more neutral to use. Maybe some day just not ready to now. But keep trying maybe someone will figure it out. ravenlures
  25. Thanks smallmouthaholic, now we know what those boys in Washington think about. If we had a flat tax rate they would do even less then we could cut the senate and the house in half, but then they would feel like the rest of the unemployed, but they would...........I best stop. Just fill out the tax form and find a bean counter to do the tax work. ravenlures Wayne
