  1. Well it seems to be ok to try out which I will. Now #1 how does it hold up in tackle boxes, any problem with contact to the trays, #2 plastic worms will they have a reaction to them, #3 will they have a reaction to each other in the tackle box in hot weather, #4 any reaction to plastic bags. The main reason I hope to like this product is speed and less waste, Etex is slow but I like it. I don't think the gloss is a factor with fish more of a thing with the fisherman, but its not the fish buying the lure just eating it.
  2. Check this out http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VS80OY/ref=asc_df_B000VS80OY2235933?smid=A1NHK5F0IH5DLD&tag=pgmp-842-97-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395109&creativeASIN=B000VS80OY I hope this works UV Black light 18"
  3. The purpose of this questionnaire would be for people testing out the lure, not customers. Customers will either buy and try and come back or not. But when testing sometimes testers just don't get back to you with the info you are looking for. I find it better to get advice on a lure that will make it a better lure. While I go out testing I am always looking for a different thought from someone other than myself. While I think it is great another person will have some sort of like or dislike. It all helps in my mind anyway. But thanks for your input I am still testing this lure out. Wayne And then my wife jumped on me about spelling questioneer to questionnaire, see two heads are better than one
  4. Just wondering. When you say wider on top how much wider on top than on the bottom. I would think you would also use a ballest on the bottom, just enough to keep it where you want it in the water. Thanks
  5. Just wondering what you prefer. #1 Open lupe, #2 Twisted end, #3 What I call a barrel roll. All using the same size wire. .040 .062
  6. Whats the difference of Alaskan Yellow Cedar and White cedar I have several mills in the area with white cedar.
  7. Again Thanks. Back to the drawing board. I am going to work all day today to come up with a jig to hold the lure for recessing the eye, then I will go out and have a few drinks and a steak, only if I do it right, If you have any thoughts about a jig for a round lure, it is a musky lure I am just trying to make it so I can do one after the other in the same place.
  8. Thanks for the response, now for those that make their own 3D eyes, what do you use. also what do they use to make 3D eyes. I am trying to get rid of making a socket for 3D eyes. I use flat stickers now but want to go to 3D eyes. On a round surface the 3D eyes have a tendency to rise on the edges. It seems that I can put epoxy on a flat sticker eye while on the round lure and have no problem with lifting, but just those little bubbles. I am not crazy about using super glue. Thanks for any help!
  9. I know this topic came up but unable to find in the search. Which epoxy leaves the least amount of air bubbles in the eye or the clearest.
  10. I also use a lure holder like yours plus a slot on the other end side to hang on a wire, they work great. Nice lure.Looks a little pudgy.
  11. Thanks to all. Great advice. I will post when I have the 10 questions. I don't want a guy to spend all day doing a questioneer. "KISS" method will work best, just have to be the right questions.
  12. What would your top ten questions be when asking someone to test your lure. (Crankbaits)
  13. Just received some unpainted lures from bustinbassbaits, They all look great. But going from a 9" musky lure to a 2.5 bass lure is going to be a challenge for me. I will have to start over on how to handle them. Now is it best to dip in accetone before priming. Other then that it will be trial and error.
  14. " Many of life's failures came when one did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up " Good luck with your venture, just take your time and have some sort of plan on what you want out of it. After 5 years of playing around I think I will be ready the first of the year to start a site and also try selling retail to the local shops. And just maybe pass it on to my son, or grandson.
  15. Yes I used dye but the cost factor is high. Painting first then top coat is best.
  16. I am not woried about the final finish I put 2 - 3 coats E-Tex what I end up with is what I end up with. I just want to know what the other fellows are doing for size tolerance. I will be turning down 50 lures this week and just was wondering, I seem to be staying within .020. Sanding wood is sometimes a little ife even soft maple is sometimes softer than another. So I guess I will be doing it the way I am doing it, Thanks guyes for your input always appreciated. Now I know I am going to get a lot of responses but I would like a few avid Musky fishermen to send a lure or two to test and to give me your opinon and any picture you may get with my lure. You can keep the lures. I had one fellow fish the lake of the woods in MN last week he got a 47 incher the first day, hes on his way home now hope to here more from him. I will be going out next month to fish. Thanks Wayne
  17. Thanks Mark Since these lures are musky lures in the 7" X 1 3/8" I feel that I have some leway or the smaller the lure the closer the size. Thanks for your input, always helpful. I do most of the sanding on the lathe and finish up with wood filler and sand if needed. Thanks Wayne
  18. Just wondering when turning down a lure, what tolerance do you hold on the dia.. I try to keep them within .010 to .015 but sometimes the wood is a little softer and it gets a little smaller. I just put them on the side, and group them together. I am turning down Soft Maple. Wayne
  19. I think it would be nice if when you go to the forums that it would be a dropdown, to all the forums. Keep up the great work and site. Wayne
  20. I would try two different types of wood Balsa and Bass, and then PVC all done the same way at the same time and see what you get.
  21. Thanks Keep up the great work. on the pics. I just keep trying just have to make a better light box.
  22. The jig looks great. I was wondering if you take your own pictures, they look great, and so does your web site.
  23. Try this ....... www.metalworksstamping.com Great to do business with.
  24. My solution is water based paints, and also I pour Etex for top coat with acrylic for sealing, that the way I do it in my basement with a blower and filter to blow outside, along with fire extinguisher close by. My wood shop is a small building outside. BE SMART NOT DUMB!!
  25. OK Thompsons is out. How about a two part epoxy A & B from Component Systems I have tried it and it hardens and soaks in pretty good. What you think? anybody ever use it on Maple or Basswood
