  11. E5i50blitzWhen we do custom mold work for customers, there is time that goes into discussing the design and action of the bait and such that the customer wants. With doing this over time we have learned a lot of things to do and not to do to make a bait perform a certain way. That being said if you find someone that knows a little of what they are doing and have been doing it for a while they will be able to help you with your quest, and make your project as easy as possible. As far as cost goes you are correct these molds are extremly cheap for what you are getting. The reason for that is we rely on selling multiples of these molds over the years. When doing custom work the customer is charged for our cad and cam time and then we also charge for our machine time and material. As far as cutter wear well lets see i have been running a lot of my cutters for over 3 years and they have not wore out yet so we do not factor that in. If I am wearing out or breaking cutters that fast I need to be optimizing my tool paths to eliminate that. I would rather have a detailed drawing with all of the deminsions that you want met of your design to work from than anything else. We have found using drawings from Cad engineers take us a lot more time to get the mold ready than it does from a drawing. We do not need all of the detail that they put into a drawing. We have to keep it simple as we only need one boundry for our tool path creation and when we deal with there drawings we normally have to go in and remove numerous boundries (lines) that we can not use. We try to saty within about .002 with our tolerences if that woud work for you. We create the 3d model and let you inspect it first. We then will create the mold and calculate all of the tool paths and cut a prototype mold . That mold will be tested here to make sure it works properly then sent to the customer. Sometimes you get lucky and nail it on the first shot . If changes need to be made they should only be minimial and usually the second go is a charm. If we can help or answer any questions give us a shout. Bear

  15. Every time I come over here to answer questions and such this happens. Must be why I do not come here much. The name calling and people jumping up and down about what other people say always gets out of hand. I never once said this was the perfect system, nor did I say anyone was wrong with their opinions. I tried to answer the concerns that Frank and Bob had with honest answers and I did that. I did say I think this is the best system we have offered to us to date. I will stand by that and if you ever use one I think you will also. We have built pots for this but it drove the cost way up, almost by 600.00 that is why we did not release it that way. Are the pots we using the best in the world ? NO they are not but we have sold over 1600 of them in 4 years and we thought this would be a fairly affordable system if used with the products you have already purchased. I am not here defending this system and I do not feel I need to. I came on here because I wanted to answer any questions and concerns potential customers may have. I respect people advice and criticism and I have been trying to better the methods we use since I opened the doors at Bears Baits by listening to questions and criticism. I think we have done that and I will continue to better what we do. I cannot and do not ask any person to sugar coat my products or service. We make mistakes and correct them the best we can. We have grown way faster and gotten way bigger than I ever imagined since starting this and feel privileged to have listened and learned from what people were asking. I am sorry this has become a pissing match again and if anyone needs a question answered you will have to contact me directly.
  16. I am not here for a pissing contest, Just to comment on a couple of questions. 1st off Bob and Frank thanks for the observations and concerns. Yes the Injectors are thin walled. Will they bend if dropped? I am sure Sure they will . If you drop a Pyrex cup it will more than likely break. But parts are readily available for them and not real expensive. Cleaning the Injectors well I have ran over 5 gallons of plastic through them and I have not took them apart for cleaning yet. We changed the O-Rings on the pistons and we are getting very little Bypass of them. I have took them down for inspection but that is it. To change colors you have to clean your pot and paddles but you do not have to clean anything else as they will clean them self. There is no plug in the block. The only exception I would maybe make is if going to a white. But we all know everything shows up in white. Are these units perfect? No they are not but compared to the other methods we have been using I will say that once you use this you will not want to use blending blocks or any other 2 color process. Frank you mentioned molds having to cool down this will always be an issue but with this system while your molds are cooling your plastic is being stirred and less likely to burn while waiting. This method is clean, you do not have to submerge your injector into your plastic. Once you are up and running you do not have to worry about air getting into your injectors unless you empty your pots. This system does not fix all of the issues with making baits but it does make shooting baits either single color or 2 color laminates as easy as I think can be accomplished. This system address a lot of the issues we had previously when using an injector. You do not have to stop and clean injectors , There is no adapters or blocks to fool with. You do not need a griddle to keep anything hot, We addressed alot of the things people were having to do with their current process and made them better. This is as far as I am concerned the easiest method you can use today for doing what we do. Does it fix all the issues ? NO but it does fix the issues of the injecting part of it. As far as a detent pin to hold the block up well I see your point but I have never had my injector fall once put in the upright position. If that is something that concerns you you could leave it in the laying down posistion when not being used . Thanks for your input and if I can answer any questions abut it by all means post them up and I will answer to the best of my ability.
  17. The Temp Controller for the presto pots will be to the left and right of the pots accordingly. Those pots were old pots I had here already so the control will not be facing you on one pot.
  18. Yes . When using transparent colors no matter how much you add they will be transparent. To get them opaque just start with a white base that has the plastic opaque then add your colorant to taste.
  19. Start With White 1st
  20. I was speaking more towards the Hand Pour molds as to them filling from the bottom. Not so much the Injected molds. They filled from the bottom up. Poured straight down the hole. Yes venting is way more important than the angle of the sprue.
  21. The main reasons we use the side ported molds is we found when shooting the molds with the port vertical they had more problems as the air was trying to come back out the same hole the plastic was going in on. Most molds when this first started like Stik baits were only vented at the bottom of the cavity. What gets filled 1st the bottom of the mold. That plugs the vent. By laying the cavity's down and injecting at 90 degrees the molds had more area to vent from. We then started using face vents which run the length of the cavity and allow the molds to vent out the top of the cavity better. Also when clamping the molds shut if using one mold the clamp would tip the mold over very easy as they were taller. Laying them on their sides make them much easier to work with in my opinion. Those are a couple of reasons that we do them this way and in no means is to conflict with why others do theirs the way they do them. We never had the option when we were using hand pour molds as we had to pour straight down the cavity. I personally do not think the 90 degree port is what is causing the bubbles. Most of our molds that have bubble issues always seems to be corrected by altering the vents and then they work fine. Bear
  22. Merry Christmas Everyone. We thank you all for another Great Year. I hope each of you enjoy and have a safe holiday season . Bear
