  1. It is an old Bear's mold. I have one just like it.
  2. Try stretching the tab by gripping it near the end and pulling a bit. Then cut the strands near your thumb. As you cut each strand it should shred back toward the head.
  3. Go to those same shops and see how other jigs are packaged. Find one you like and go from there.
  4. Kasilofchrisn What kind is your heated press and where did you get it?
  5. It is funny that we as bait makers want to make a more durable product. We even use durability as a selling point. I manufacture for a few resellers and I have been asked if I can make my baits less durable. If they tear after a fish or two they can sell more baits.
  6. smallmouthaholic, The link you posted isn't working for me. Is there another way I can look at ir?
  7. Kasilofchrisn, Have you tried Mustangwire.com? He makes all kinds of wire products. If he doesn't make rings, he may know someone who does. And he is here in the US.
  8. You can also get a hot knife at just about any hobby/craft store.
  9. When I have small runs like that or I do multi-color jigs I just let it all mix together and call it my kitchen sink color.
  10. Kasilofchrisin I built a small paint booth and I recover over 99% of the paint when I use my spray gun.
  11. Try DLaery right here on this forum.
  12. slowFISH, I use a presto pot and throw the sprues right back in as soon as I cut them.
  13. Ted, On the forms I make for my version of this bait The continous lenght of wire is on the outside and the two short ends meet in the middle .
  14. I use anise in my swimbaits and shad colored worms. Both cooked in and in the bag.
  15. Painter, I usually make 32 oz. batches of light colors in my presto pot. I put the plastic in the pot with four tsp of heat stabilizer and turn on the stirrer and the pot. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to get to pouring temp. Then I add my colorant and flake and go. This allows me to empty the pot faster befor the plastic has a chance to yellow. For dark colors I can make 64 oz. batches.
  16. It looks like you are breaking the sprues off. I found that the harder lead does this more often. I also found that if you break the sprue off immediately after demolding while the lead is still hot this does not happen. Lead continues to harden for some time after you make your cast. Try pouring 3 jigs, break off the sprue on one of them right away and set the rest aside. Then break off the next one on the next day and so on. You will notice that it gets harder each day.
  17. You can get parts directly from LEE or send it to them with half the purchase price and they will completely refurbish it. They even give you a new warrenty.
  18. Eagle Claw has a 574 and Mustad has a 32831, both are listed as long shank hooks.
  19. FreshwaterFX, If it will get you by, I can send you 10 or 12 eleven inch bags. Just PM me with your particulars.
  20. Try Mustang Wire, he does batches of 10,000 or more. Good price too.
  21. ocbasser, Colombia has a color chart that you can buy for about 10 bucks. It has a very good representation of the colors they offer. Mine has been very helpfull.
