  1. An electric hot knife works really well. You can get them at most hobby and craft stores.
  2. I found some videos on youtube, but I don't know how to get them on here. If you go to youtube and search "jump ring welder" you can get alot of info.
  3. I once saw a video of a couple guys making chain male shark suits. They were using a table top spot welder to seal the rings. I thought that would be perfect for sealing the end loop, but I haven't succeded in finding a small unit. I don't know what kind of volume you are doing, but it might be worth it on a large scale.
  4. Jig Man, I have had success with a drop or two of createx paint.
  5. Jig Man, I super glue them on and go over the head with 2T. I haven't tried fishing them with just the super glue. I haven't had any issues yet.
  6. Mark, Where was that chick when I was dating?
  7. Just wondering, but won't dipping the hex allen wrench give you a round exterior with the hex on the inside?
  8. Jigman, Here in California we are also limited the three hooks. I make a 4 wire rig and put a #4 willow blade on top then there are two side wires with 1/4 oz heads and finally a 3/8 oz. head on bottom. The blade adds drag and wants to lift like a spinnerbait and the 3/8 oz. head gives it a keel effect. This combination seems to right itself within one or two turns of the handle.
  9. haulinbass, I use nylon upholstery thread. It is very strong and does not rot. You can get it a Wally World or just about any fabtic store. I finish my knots off with a drop of super glue and it takes the glue very well.
  10. clemmy, I tried to PM you , but it did not go through. Contact me at tj@basseducerbaits.com. I may be able to make some for you.
  11. Try a rubber skirt band around the hook shank and position it as close to the cavity as you like.
  12. Ken, I think you are right that heat is your culprit. I use a presto pot and I usually make 64 oz batches. I found that my last couple dozen or so baits were getting yellow. On my transparent baits I cut the batch down to 32 oz. and added two table spoons of heat stabilizer. Then I turn the temp down to where it still pours well and try to empty the pot as quicly as possible. Now I get clean, bright clear baits right to the end. And I can use the remnants in the next batch. Hope this helps.
  13. Finnz, There is a company that specializes in working with the Do-It blanks. They do custom work. Here is the link. http://pouritmoldser...contact-us.html
  14. Dutchman, I used to drill out all the holes after powder painting and curing. I then made a set of oversized pins that eliminate that step. I make a football jig that takes a 5/32 weedguard I made pins out of .085 music wire and it makes a hole that allows the weedguard to fit snugly after painting. I spray my powder paint. Hope this helps. I'm sure others will have more ideas.
  15. Jeff, I tried making plastic inserts, but they just didn't work for me. I just went to the clamshell boxes for my frogs and swimbaits.
  16. There are many types of bar codes, the UPC is only one of them. Many of the point of sale equipment can read several codes. I use Code 128 which many of the local shops can read and does not require registration or any additional costs. You can get alot of info at the WASP website, they have software as well as readers.
  17. That looks like the Chompers Stand-up Jighead. I don't think you are going to find stock mold of that one.
  18. Let us know about shelf life, I think the vegetable oil will go rancid on you. Worm oil is a petrolium base.
  19. When I was still dipping I used high temp silicone masking caps. You heat the jig like normal, place the cap over the eye and dip. This keeps the paint off entirely. After the dip just pull the cap off and it's ready for the next jig. They are reusable and I have used one over 500 times. I asked for samples and they sent them free. Like Cadman said your best bet is a fluid bed. Here is a link. http://www.shercon.com/storefront/ultrabakegroundingcaps.aspx
  20. The nickle blades are not laquered, simply polished. I use plane unfinished brass blades for all my painting. They don't have anything you have to remove and they are not very shiny.
  21. Try your local paint store. They use them for samples. Most of the time they just give me a few.
  22. ddl, No I did not, at the time I wasn't sure what you were looking for.
