  1. Maybe the manufacturers can find a way to recycle used lures like they do soda cans and offer cash per pound.
  2. You might need a pair of split ring pliers with a bigger jaw. If you're not using split ring pliers you really should.
  3. You can try these guys, they are up ther. http://www.luremaking.com/index.htm
  4. David, I have been using the flexshaft fot years now and I really like it. It is sooo much easier to manuver than the machine itself. Yes it is smooth. I use the small sanding drum with med to fine grit paper to clean up the spru scars on most of my baits.
  5. Thanks, that's Jiggs, he's my supervisor.
  6. I was just curious about the reason. Just like anything else in this business you have to jump on the band wagon and ride it until it stops. I think I would hang the weight so that I could spin it and use a heat gun and my powder spray gun. JMHO.
  7. Kasilofchrisn You said there is interest in the painted weights. Is that because they look better or that more fish are being caught on them? Then if you troll for longer than the glow period of the paint do you bring it in and recharge it? I have painted dropshot weights and haven't noticed any better results, but the fishermen like them.
  8. wilfish, I used an inexpensive external mix siphon air brush. That stuff is too thick for an internal mix brush, even when thinned it is still troublesome. I used low pressures in the twenty to thirty PSI range. I also used a slow thinner called Xylene Xylol made by Kleen Strip and thinned down to a 50/50 mix. There are also retarders on the market, but I haven’t tried them. It is very important to use their white base coat to get a good bond or else you can peel the paint off with your fingernail. I found that if I didn’t do these things the paint would spray like spider webs as it was drying in flight, I also had to hold the brush pretty close to the bait. Never did have any drying issues. After all that the results were good, the paint was tough and stood up to the usual rigors of bass fishing quite well. I stopped using it because the fumes are harsh and explosive, and the cleanup is messy. I switched to spraying powder paint and eliminated all those issues.
  9. I found that when I sprayed vinyl paint I had to thin it at least 50/50 with a slow thinner or it would dry too fast and just spray spider webs and I always had to use a white base coat.
  10. Del over at Del-Mart used to make a really nice one. night give him a call and see if he can still make them.
  11. Monte, If your buds are that particular about fractions of an inch then they need help. Trust me, the fish don't care.
  12. Well Bob, if it’s squirrels you can sell the tails to Mepps.
  13. A few months ago I watched a tv show about making chainmail suits for shark diving. They had a small spotwelder to close the rings. This could be used with jump rings that you can buy or make rourself. There is a lot of info on this on you tube just search chainmail. I don't know how involved you want to get, but I can't imagine that a spotwelder that size can be too much.
  14. They have a video of one on their website, but no info on availability or cost.
  15. How about using the presto pot to heat and maintain the plastic. Then pour off what you need to fill your injector into a pyrex cup, fill you injector from the pyrex cup and shoot. While you are waiting for the mold to cool clean the injector and throw the plug back into the pot. Then peel the plastic out of the cup and throw that back into the cup. Demold and repeat.

  19. I have four 6" jig clamps from TJ's Tackle for sale. They are used to hold jigs or other baits during the curing process. They hold the jig with the head up so any excess powder paint runs down the hook shank - no beaks. Here's a link http://tjstackle.com/
  20. I'M NOT ADDICTED, I CAN QUIT ANYTIME I WANT.
  21. You can add any color to white pearl and make a pearl of that color.
  22. This one from Harbor Freight works verry well and sometimes you can get them on sale for under 50 bucks. http://www.harborfreight.com/3-gallon-100-psi-oilless-pancake-air-compressor-95275.html
  23. Here you go. http://www.barlowstackle.com/Powder-Paint-Spray-Gun-P1006C134.aspx
  24. In small amounts it will tint the clear, but it will not be a true candy. I make a brown purple flake that uses 1 part brown and 4 parts clear and lots of flake. Brown is such a hard color to put flake into and still have it show especially purple because they are so similar. This mix really thins out the brown and lets the flake show through. However if you wand a darker brown you have to put on several coats. I spray my powder so it is easier to put on a couple very thin coats.
