    Hello Guys

Yes Ruben, welcome to TU. Nice fish, bet that catfich took you for a ride in a float tube. Looking forward to the pics of your jigs.
  4. You can also try the plastic runners that one of our members (carolinamike) sells. Cheap and they work pretty good. Here is a link. Plastic Runners
  5. kimbro1014, Question #1: Correct Question #2: Correct. After you tie the rubber (cut to your desired length) onto the jig you grasp the end of the strip and pull slightly while cutting the end off. The strands will sheer off along pre-scored lines. If they don't shread completely you can separate them by hand. I don't think that mold is available commercially yet. You can get a custom mold made, but they are expensive. Hope this helps.
  6. You could also use a flour sifter to break up any lumps brfore you mix and put in a little at a time. Just a thought.
  7. 5ohhh. You will burn your Createx. You should bake your base coat then do your custom paint job and use someting like D2T to seal it all up.
  8. When fishing the Republican River In Kansas for big cats, we used a similar device to launch our baits far out into the river. The area was beneath the dam and not accessable by foot. We rigged our slingshot to fit into the open tops of the chain link fence posts and used large spinning outfits. Biggest one was a 45 pound flathead. Had a big fish fry for my ETS party from the Army.
  9. Javelin, I too had problems with that mold.I tried everything you can think of to fixit. I then wrote to Do-It with my delema. They advised me to use soft lead. I got a small pot and use nothing but pure, soft lead and hav not had a bad pour yet. I re-ordered the molds, both the jig and spinnerbait and use them unmodified all the time. Hope this helps, and as a side benefit, the baits come out brighter and shinier.
  10. WillHam, first of all welcome to the fray. There are many materials with which to make molds. The most popular are RTV Rubber, Plaster of Paris and Resin. There are some more exotic materials and of course the machined aluminum molds. All these molds allow you to make soft plastic lures of any color you can imagine including clear baits. This site is full of information on how to make molds and where to get them.
  11. Zib, There is a spray gun for powder paint. I use them all the time and get some great results. Especially nice for painting spinner baits, buzz baits and other large baits that don't fit in a fluid bed. Here is a link to the one I use. Barlows Tackle Shop: Browsing Powder Paint Spray Gun
  12. 12jgage, I make alot of those specifially for flipping, they take a nice heavy hook and you can get several brands of hooks for them.
  13. stumpyfd, When I was using vinyl, I sprayed it. I had to thin it 50/50 to get it to flow and turned the the pressure down to about 30-35 psi. If I didn't thin it that much I would get spiderwebs. I used Zylol Zyleen to thin it with, but I suppose you can use any SLOW thinner. As far as skirts go, I usually use two pads on most jigs and sometimes three on the really big stuff. Sometimes I mix a little rubber in with the silicone for bulk. Hope this helps.
  14. Drof99, Check with Del before you cut the rods, maybe he can make you a set of shorter rods. That way you can make two styles. Just a thought.
  15. You can also look at Hagen's, they are in the suppliers directory at the left of the page.
  16. You should be able to get that from one of our members at www.fishingskirts.com or from www.livingrubber.com or www.barlowstackle.com. That looks like it might be the glitter scale series. This should get you started.
  17. Meallenjr, If you are pouring your weedguards in place I would recommend vinyl paint. It worked the best for me. If you are going to spray it, you have to thin it about 50-50 with their thinner or if you use something else make sure it is a slow thinner. If you don't you will be shooting spiderwebs. Hope this helps.
  18. Those little lines or cracks as you call them happen when the plastic stream touches the side of the cavity and hardens. This leaves a very thin strip of plastic up the side of the cavity. Then when the cavity fills all the wat it shows up as a line. those are hard to get away from when hand pouring. You always hear to pour a thin stream right down the center of the fill hole. A presto pot helps, but they still occur. I beleive injection is the only way to get rid of them. After all that, the fish don't care and sometimes that little line catches and reflects light in a different was and that can be good. JMHO.
  19. Bigfruits, My suggestion would be a 2 piece aluminum mold from Del-Mart or Bob's. Each one produces a quality bait. Bob's mold has one screw that holds the halves together along with two built in alignment pins. Del's has two screws and two removeable alignment pins which takes a little longer open and close. Del Offers a starter kit which has all you need to pour plastics. Hope this helps.
  20. Champ, Unless you go custom I beleive you are stuck with one at a time. For going custom you can buy a blank mold from Do-it and take it to a local mahine shop and have them make what you want . Or have one made by someone like Collins. Both are expensive and take time. Hope this helps.
  21. Happy Birthday from me too Tyler.
  22. Brshpile, To solve your problem you need to get a deeper cup for your fluid bed. I like to spray on my powder paint. You can get some really cool effects this way. Some of the guys here do some really great stuff. Then if you want to add scales, eyes or other stuff you can use createx, vinyl paint and finish with clear.
