  1. You must pay 10% of your sales for federal excise tax, which you must file quarterly. Contact your local IRS and they will get you started.
  2. Spike-It has well over 20 different hi-lites/pearls. I know they have 3 different colors of blue, 3 different colors of white, 3 different colors of green, 2 different colors of purple, and then copper, gold, orange, brass, silver, 2 different reds, and pink. These are just the ones that I have and there is several others.

  4. Frank, you're wrong and you know wrong. This practice is common in every business, some companies, to publicly advertise and sell their product, have set prices and rules, yes, even if you spend your money. I had a good conversation with this fellow last night and he was told that they could not sell him plastic. If you buy a McDonald's franchise you cant just go in and do what you want, you have to agree to follow corporate rules. To get closer to home, if you want to publicly sell LuckyCraft Lures you have to agree to their pricing rules even though you actually paid for them. Alot of companies have policies like these but I think you already know that. Sure, you can sneak and do alot of things but honest people dont operate like that. With that being said, I really don't think that all the information given about this gentlemen was correct. He is trying to start a part time Mom and Pop business, with Mom being the main overseer. He has done his homework and has his plastic situation under control and after our conversation he is owed an appology from me, and I do appologize. I wasn't given all the correct information and there is two sides to every story. He works full time and this is mainly his wife's project and like he explained to me, this is a part time business, not a full time venture. As far as him and the plastic supplier goes, I dont think he done anything wrong there, I think someone just shared information that they shouldn't have. He is already learning about people who jump from forum to forum and not trust some people even though they say that they have his best intrest in mind, its one of these types of folks that caused him his trouble. I do wish him and his wife the best in their business venture.
  5. The best thing to do is to call them monday, you want to talk to Bruce, extension 106. Tell him that you want to get as close to the power bait scent as you can get, they supply Berkley so it shouldnt be a problem. They're closed on Friday
  6. Not to the public, just to people who are redistributing their product and under-cutting prices without devulging this information to them and advertising the product for sale on other people's websites that allready sells their product.
  7. Now ya'll are talking my language. I sold my Ranger bass boat a few years ago, stopped tournament fishing, bought a kayak and have never looked back. We've got some great smallmouth fishing here on the Broad River. We're having a meet and greet May 30-June 2 in Boiling Springs NC about 50 miles west of Charlotte. We'd love to have you two to join us. If you don't have a kayak that's fine you can wade fish down at the Greenway. Tent camping will be available. And by the way Southern Yankee, welcome to TU.
  8. Updated list of available colors in the classifieds. You can pm me if interested.

  10. Martin, I will have white later on this week, plus several other colors. Keep in mind with white that you may want to use a little virgin plastic with it to keep the color true. Also Painter1, your stuff should be ready this week too. Guys this is the busy time of the year, so you may want to pm me or contact me by phone for upcoming colors. There's a lot on the schedule.
  11. I find this just to be the opposite, but you've got to keep in mind that I weigh my components. Let's say I use 5 grams of salt, I find that 5 grams of a fine grind gives me less discoloration than 5 grams of regular table salt. And also the fine grind does not displace as much plastic, making the baits more flexible and stronger than if I use a larger grind salt. I'm not saying anyone's wrong, this is just what I've found out from my own personal experiences.
  12. Just buy it from lureworks.
  13. jigman, these companies that you are trying to market your baits to, have they signed a non disclosure form, or do you have patents on these baits? I don't mean to sound like a smart a** but if you don't have some type of protection and you're showing samples of baits, you have just given your ideas away. Also do you have any proof of sales projections, or how your ideas would impact the market? Large companies could care less whether or not baits catch fish, their concern is, is it a marketable product? It's all about the money.
  14. Yes you can use worm oil or virgin plastisol and you can probably use scent too, It just seems to mix better when you break it down. If you have a Presto pot with a stirer you can add it directly to the plastisol and let it stir for about 15 minutes before heating. When consistancy is important you can't beat this type of coloring, just be sure and keep a record of the weights and you will have the same color every time you make baits. Also weigh your salt and flake.
  15. Jeff, Frank's right you can get the coloring from Spike-It, unless they've changed, they will sell you a pound, although they do prefer to sell it in either 2 or 8 lb quantities. But understand, that this type of coloring is a whole lot different than your normal hand pour coloring. There is no way and I mean no way to measure it by the drop. You have to measure it by weight. So an accurate set of gram scales is a must. A half of a gram usually will color around 20 oz. of plastic, or at least this will give you a starting point. And Frank was also right, it's a lot more expensive than the regular Lureworks coloring, but being that you're only using such small amounts, it's well worth the extra money. Also let me warn you, there's nothing neat about this stuff, it is messy, I mean very messy. A little bit on the back of your pants can ruin your furniture or the upholstery of your car. So wear old clothes and be careful. Contact Bruce at ext 106 and he can get you fixed up. They may also charge a little more to break it down into 1 lb quantities. By the way, weight is the most consistent way to measure coloring. After all, no two drops are exactly the same. And too, it takes a little bit of extra effort when mixing this type of coloring, so you may want to break it down with a little softener before you pour it into your plastisol.
  16. First off its way to expensive for what you are getting, the air regulator which is not heat resistant is conencted directly to the pot. The motor for the stirer is very cheap and inadequete, the shaft for the stirer which goes through the lid of the pot has no seal therefore you have a continual air leak. You are very limited on the pressure that you can put on the pot also the brass valves have a very short handle and are not heated the valves continualy freeze off it does come with a pair of needle nose locking pliers. For 3 thousand dollars these pots are very poorly made and considering that lure craft dosen't make the pots i'm sure they're not going to take any of the liability for a severe accident when it happens. I purchased one of these pots and it came with no instructions I contacted the gentleman who made the pot by phone and asked if he would at least send instructions for the heat controls, that was 10 years ago and I still haven't recieved the instructions also there is no pressure guage conected directly to the pot the air that is heated is at a higher pressure then what the plastic guage says on the plastic regulator. In my opinion this is a bad accident waiting to happen.
  17. Jon up north, stay away from the from the LureCraft pot, LureCraft dosen't make these, they just sell them. They're not very safe, and besides, you can build your own for a thousand bucks or less. What are the measurements of your production mold? The very best production machine on the market (small one) is running around 40,000 bucks, the large machines are around 60,000. Rather than buy a production machine it would be more economical for you to ship the mold to someone who has a machine and knows what they're doing. I'm not sure where you are located in Canada but I have a friend in Ottawa who does this type of work but not all injection machines are made the same so more info would be needed about the mold, such as the bolting pattern, this info is crucial to know if a mold will bolt up to the machine and obviously you would also have to tell where the injection holes are located. You can buy used equipment or purchase cheaper equipment (which I suggest you stay away from) but learning to run the equipment can become very expensive if you dont know what you're doing. On hand pours a 5 dollar mistake isn't that bad but with production equipment a 500-1000 dollar mistake can kill a profit margin very quickly.
  18. High volume shops buy it by the pound. Jeff how high of volume are you talking about?
  19. cbj11lbs, thats what I was looking for. If you read on this patent you will notice that the patent from 2004 was abandond for the patent that you posted, Andre must have figured out real quick that he needed more than just a design patent.
  20. I have searched everywhere and this is the only patent that I can find on the beaver. I think that the bait would still be protected with a ornamental design patent, reason being, if you make the body with those exact ridges then you still would be infringing because you are duplicating the design and those patent numbers came directly from Reaction's website and they list no others.
  21. You definatly DO NOT want to sandblast it, and only polish the cavities. That way there is less chance for error.
