After spending lots of time on the "learning curve", finally I've finished few pieces of "strange looking" wood . One of the reasons that they look like fishing lures is this forum. Without your knowledge ( and willingness to share it here) I will be probably still in the "deep woods" I'm probably exagerrating little bit, thinking that I've left that place (deep woods) already. Any way I would like to thank you all for sharing. Anything looking somewhat similar to work posted by some is only because I've needed little bit of inspiration. By no means it was attempt to "copy cat"' just for some reason I've loved the shape. So here they are, my first, hopefully not last, bathtub and swimming pool tested. I'm nervous, please be gentle http://www.tackleunderground.com/photos/file.php?n=3728&w=l http://www.tackleunderground.com/photos/file.php?n=3729&w=l http://www.tackleunderground.com/photos/file.php?n=3730&w=l

Bottom line is that, nominally one metric lure builder is equal to one imperial lure builder:). Everything else is just semantics:wink:

I'm rotating with this machine:) . Exactly 1 rpm. Mostly I mount baits in horizontal position, but I have an option to go to almost full range between horizontal and vertical (it depends on the bait's lenght). Cannot comment on Devcon, because I use exclusively E-tex Light. No complains

Mark here. I'm from Canada (about 60 km or 37.2822715342 miles:) ) east of Toronto, Ont. I'm 52, one wife:roll:, three kids, two cats and one dog. In electronics by profession, as a hobby: angler ,"garage engineer" and home grown woodworker. I do not have a problem with shaping piece of wood, but I have no idea what to do next. Some time ago I've built few hard baits, but they did not swim the way I've wanted, they did not look the way I've wanted, they were just piece of wood imitating fish's shape. About 1 month ago I've discovered TU and I'm . So much to learn, so little time. At this time I would like to thank all members of TU for sharing their experience:worship: . I hope one day I will be able to do this myself (I'm working on it ).

Do you have good long distance plan?

I'm pretty new to this forum and this hobby, thus I'm still in the "dark":) in regards to building hard baits. This is the reason that I do not rate any on them, I just . At the same time without TU I will be in the "dark" wasting money,, time and other resources without vast knowledge, experience and what is the most important for me "willingness to share" by the the TU memebers. Saying that, I hope ,that some day I will be able to post a replay similar to this one below. In my books this is the "FIVE STARS" post.

Well, this is just another experiment, not tested yet;) . I was always reluctant to put any fish scent on the hard bait. It is not big deal with store bought baits, because they can be easly replaced if something happen to the bait:yeah: . Even worst for hand made bait. After countless hrs to make it I do not want to put any "stinky" chemical on it. So this is what I did: Piece (1") of brass tubing embeded in the body of a bait. It can be filled with your favorite scent and plugged with piece of foam. The scent is slowly released almost without a contact with bait body:popcorn: Only constuctive criticism will be accepted:lol: Forgive me if this topic was already discussed, but I'm the member here for only 3 days and I did not have a chance to go through all the pages of threads

I've installed open hooks on the plates (inside surface). Line eye goes straight on the hook, back is connected to the hook with "havy duty" rubber band. Then I spread the plates little bit more, so there is enough tention to keep bait in almost horizontal position. You are right. Probably I was not clear enough. "microwave motor and dimmer switch", just came first to my mind when I was thinking about it. There lots of other options like DC motor with regulated power supply or maybe electric drill with speed adjustment and V belt. This is why I've said that I have to Definitely the firs priority is the safety

You have to bare in mind that I'm total (well, almost) newbe to this aspect of building baits. Woodworking itself is a different story (it is my second hobby to fishing ). With this particular wheel (I used only envirotex) I found the distribution of the coat acceptable ( again due to lack of experience I have nothing to compare it with ).The only thing is that I try to make my coat as thin as possible and then repeat it and repeat and repeat and....... I'm thinking about modyfying this wheel. Faster motor (from microwave turntable - 6rpm) and speed adjustment from 0-6 rpm (light dimmer switch ). Need to experiment little bit with this.

This is my idea. It is adjustable approx to 15":) (lenght of the bait)

Hi all. Great site. Sometime ago I've tried to build some hardwood bites, but lack of knowledge (how to?) caused that they are waaaaay to far from images I've created in my imagination:) . Then I've found this site:worship: and started "playing" with the wood again. The knowledge here is unbelievable Mark
