  1. I think you are looking for coated leader material. Comes in various pound test ... check out the size you need. It also comes uncoated as well. Maybe this will help a little. JSC
  2. Just a side note on cost & profit. Lets say the DKBII .. SRP is 4.95 Dealer Cost is 2.97 Jobber cost is 2.23 FET 10% - 22 Leaves 2.01 Less 10% Sales Rep Commission .22 Leaves 1.79 And out of that comes cost of Materials, Labor and all other overhead including of course advertising. Cuts it down pretty small ........... Hope this helps yall to have a broader oversight of the whole thing. JSC
  3. Hi I have changed one BUT ....... It is better to send the whole thing back to Lees and they will replace it for 1/2 the current cost of a new one ... You are W A Y A H E A D on this deal ... Go to Lees Web Site for further info. Hope that helps ... I was glad some one on this Forum informed me of this (after I had changed out the one) ... JSC
  4. A few things about Bagley that I have been associated with. His BALSA baits were all good with thru wire construction. When they went with Jelutong is when they dropped the thru wire construction and the baits were not as good. Example the Bango lure was made thicker .. in my opinion the BALSA Bango Lure was better than the Rapala .. it was thinner and sat higher in the water and its reaction to a twitch was faster and more pronounced ... The DKBII (which I am most acquainted with) while made with thru wire construction and the FLAT Lip with "Tuning Button" was entirely different than the Jelutong (The flat lip would break) ... I must confess that the sales for the newer one were just as good as the older model .. here in NW FL for years was the number one selling Crank Bait it "jumped" logs and snags ... dove quickly on retrieve and caught a lot of fish. Some of the lures by Lee Sisson .. who worked for Bagley for quite a few years .. are along the same lines but not an exact match of the DKBII. I would never expect a mass produced Bagley Lure to come up to the quality of the handcrafted lures you guys make but the design and results of the old DKBII and Bango lure are outstanding. My JSC
  5. "Not sure exactly what you mean by advertising, but I was going to state that my spinnerbaits have Hildebrandt blades." Should have said, that they would not mind since You are advertising their blade ... JSC
  6. You are adverising Hilde blades JSC
  7. Thanx Guys I am going out to the shop and check the bottles I have .. JSC
  8. Guys Who stocks MEK ?? Thanks JSC
  9. I am not quite sure about the original #6 Trebeles they used, but I think they were EC .. When they took on a Rep orginization is when they went to the triple grip mustad (the rep org repped for Mustad) .. Then they went to what they have now. JSC
  10. I have used them as "Drip Cans" for a long time ... until I foud my old SAECO Ingot Mold. I all ways cut them off just below the "Rounded Part" at the top of the can ... never had any trouble ... My JSC
  11. "Cutter" How about a picture of this one. JSC

    Dents

"you know thats cool that you brought up laminates I never seen a dent in one as well makes one wonder doesnt it." Now we are getting some where .. where ? I'm not all that sure .. but it is getting closer to the "Dents" not "Voids" which is really the big mystery as voids are mostly from pouring fast or to hot as well as a possible movement of the mold during the pour ... (should not have Voids with laminatea either) ... I had though of changing my pouring routine to check some of these things but have been doing open molds as of late ..... More to come .... JSC

    flat tails

"Dave, that's the beauty of the presto> Once you get the valve hot enough you can control the size of the stream quite easily. Should make pouring those thin tails a breeze." Dave ... as added to this it helps to have a nozzele to "Choke Down" and center the stream of plastic .... I use a brass air chuck fitting and cut the bottom of it off ( less metal to keep heated and cause clogging) ... Hope this helps JSC

    flat tails

"Some day one of these guys on here may figure out a way to put a divider in one of these pots with a double stirrer and 2 spouts for 2 color pours. Wouldn't that be handy?" Hi Its been figured out with a divider but no stirrer. I think it is in the thread about pouring "Swirels" 2 valves side by side, piece of alum bolted in and sealed with gasket material. I have all the data on it .. just have not had a chance to work on it. ----------- Dave those chartruse tails look good ! JSC

    Dents

I belive Jim nailed it .. this has been my thought on it but had not proven it any way ... at least he could see it happen and I belive that is what happens with an Alum mold. How do you stop it with an Alum mold ???? More questions JSC
  16. Got my order in a few days ago and have poured the Junebug. (Will pour the white later) ... I was really impressed with the quality of the Platisol ... remelting of this injection plastic surprised me ... It held its color at high temp real well even after remelting some sprues from 2 pc molds (finished it off with open molds so I could clean it all up) ... its thickness was just right for a Med Plastisol ... Thanx .... will let yall know how the white turns out... JSC
  17. If the creature is available .. will take PM sent JSC
  18. You are asking for a lot of trouble with an "r" bend below .030 .. A twisted or "Safety Pin Coil" is better on the smaller wire. My JSC
  19. I have a few items that may be of intrest to you.

Let me know as you progress

  20. Scott, you mentioned during tough times ... Hey thats when some people have time to fish ... when I was in the retail B&T Biz I have had customers to come in and say "I will be out of work for a while so guess it will be a while before I see you" 99% of the time they went more then than when they were working .... Terminal tackle, Live Bait and lures (but more conservativly) sells the best during the "Belt Tightner" times. Good Luck ... been there done that. JSC
  21. Lure Craft has a paint for soft plastic. JSC
  22. Check With Cadman JSC
  23. You can also make a mixture of the regular palstic coloring and acetone ... this is mostly for large batches ... dip the tail and "screte it off" and let dry . JSC
  24. I am with you MT .. A good example of this is to remelt some plastic with out stirring ... takes forever ... turn on the stirrer and it will mix and bring the whole batch around to the same thru out. Been thinking of getting a In Thermometer .. JSC
  25. A lot of good advice ... I keep the Heat Gun handy ... have been planing on rigging a heat strip but have not gotten around to it. That was a suggestion from Carolina Mike ... the strip would wrap around the valve. I can have a good pour but if I wait to long between molds it will cool and not be as thin a pour until you get the spot of cooled out ... Good Luck JSC
