  1. The Pompano run is on up here ... have not had a chance to throw a jig at them. (Panama City to P'cola area) JSC
  2. I got out the good ol "DeLorme Florida Atlas & Gazetteer" (1998 model) Went to page 50-51... and tracked it all out and I see where the Aucilia meets it ... are you fishing in the upper end near the Spring ... the map shows it as a long lake then narrowing down and several branches fork off ... Looks like a landing at the spring. That is all most out in the woods. JSC
  3. I know where that river is located been across it several times but have never fished it. When you cross it down on 98 it looks real clear with a black water tint to it. Thanx .. Now I can sleep tonight knowing where it is. JSC I know Lake Jackson was messed with before but I have heard that "It will never be the same again" before. Could be wrong this time, But .... I predict (going out on limb now) that it will come back after we have had enough rainfall thru out the SE. JSC
  4. Ghost the Reps are "Traveling Salesmen" & they work on a commission basis. You might could get some one selling other products to do it on a smaller scale. A distributor Salesman generally sells only the products that the company he represents stocks .. depending on the agreement between salesman & company. Yes there are several alternate ways of selling. But ... if You want it to grow eventually big time You need to follow the accepted methods as it will catch you in the end. Hope this helps a little. JSC
  5. Speaking of Bottom Pouring Lead Pots. I have a lot more problems with a Lee than I had with the SACO that I used for many years (had 3 of them and got one of them overhauled once) Some where along the way while I was not pouring any, except a very few spinner baits, The SACO pot vanished from the market. Could some one bring me up to date ? I had 2 that were in need of repairs that I just trashed. Thanx JSC
  6. Ghost The Rep Organizations in which we are speaking is maybe one or many individuals .. way back it was generally one individual who would have one to many Mfg. that he represented .. as time went on and more was expected of them they found that they could be more profitable and able to do a better job by joining forces .. Example a Rep had 6 South Eastern States to cover and had 6 Lines .. by joining with another he could have say 12 lines split the territory and have 3 of the 6 states. This is a brief overview .. lot more pros and cons. These Reps call on Wholesale Distributors and the larger Sporting Goods and Chains. They do call on the smaller independents with certain lines if time and sales permit and in accordance with any agreement they have with Mfg. that they rep. Hope this helps JSC

  8. Man that is a tough question with a lot of maybes, good luck, and other stuff I have not thought of. Most of the time a Rep will really want it after a demand has been established and that is another "Ball of Wax". That demand is a big chain in what one of them can do as it starts with the consumer and works its way up .. Retailer, Wholesaler (Distributor) and the Rep is doing the sales leg work for you within this chain. The "Web" being another factor that I have noticed to help create this demand and you can supply some of the items that the "Chain" has not yet added to their stock. I know I have not directly answered your question but that "String" is hard to "Guesstimate" ... Hope this might help a little. JSC
  9. Hi BW In years past I did. Later on as a Jobber salesman I have gotten to know quite a few of them. As in everything else there are some good ones and some are just the opposit ... Some will take your line on just to keep some one else from getting it and sell just enough to keep it. A good one will work with you all the way if the chemistry is good between you and him. Standard commission for them is 10% and that not only includes them on the road but at shows as well (you will have to contribute some to the shows) .. As far as getting in touch with one I would suggest that you attend some of the shows and introduce your self to them and set up an appointment with them later .. do not be afraid of the ones that do not have the big lines as they can sometimes do you more good, Wish I could give you some names but I have been off the road since 2001 and am out of touch with most of them. (Southeast jobbers are the ones I was most connected to) Hope this helps a little. JSC

    Plastic Eels

Like Nova have seen them rigged several ways and most have a stinger hook. Either Mono or wire is used and is threaded thru the body. JSC

    detachable jigspinner

I like the "Coil" to lock it on with. I use a little 1/8 oz with a 3 inch Curl Tail Grub for Bass ... For shallow water. It is my go to lure whn the fishing gets tough mostly in the Spring and Winter. JSC
  13. Glad to have another NWF fisherman aboard ... You left out how close the best of them all and that is the Appilachicola (SP) River System ... I am on the Choctawhatchee .. Trying to figure out where the scene of your Avatar (SP) is from .. Looks a little like up the Flint ??? Let us know so that I can quit trying to figure it out. How is the water level at Jackson ?? Have not been over that way in a while .. JSC
  14. Generly the best bet is to find a local print shop to do them JSC
  15. Hope Yall have a great time .. Would really like to be there... Keep us posted JSC
  16. Hi Rollo Lets start out with a basic Suggested Retail Price. 1.00 To a retailer his normal discount is 40% off SRP .. his cost .60 To a Wholesale Distributor normal discount is 50 & 10% off of SRP on the 1.00 his cost would be .45. When the Dist sells to the retailer with a 40% off SRP he would make 25%. These are "Starting Points" and every day discounting BUT .. Early Buys .. Large Qunaity and Early Pay all can be factored in. Plus if You are going to go that route you need a Manufacures Rep who gets 10 % of what he sells it to the Distributor .. so the SRP 1.00 item is now down to you getting .405 And of course out or this also comes the 10 % FET and all other costs. Hope this helps JSC
  17. bh The Alum for bracing is the way to go ... You do not have to think rivets all the way as it can be bolted as well. Keep us up to date. JSC
  18. Hi 19 Just ran into this thread. DO NOT REMOVE the seats ... your floation is incorporated into them. Build your decks using the seats as supports. Use as little material as possible to keep the weight down. Let us know how it turns out. JSC

  24. Clemmy If it is the same one I got at that price ....Hamilton Beach #31160B ... it just looks like there is a place for a rack to fit at about 1/2" but .... it has stops and a rack cannot slide in (I thought when I got it just like you did) ... You may have seen a different one. JSC
  25. Tman2 U hit the nail on the head. EVERY ONE should have to work meeting the public for at least 1 year and then the next year handle the money and make it work. JSC
