  2. I have to suspect guides, bad line, chafed line ... could you tell if was broken on the knot ?? it should show. My 2 cents JSC
  3. From all I can find out about the Screw Locs in another size is to make your own (Search for screw locs a couple of good threads on this). As far as the hooks go is a matter of choice. JSC
  4. Just one other thing ... Will adding too much Heat Stabilizer do this as well ?? JSC
  5. Cadman Thanx for the PDF JSC
  6. Thanx for clearing up the heating George as most think of heating in a oven and all parts being coated and I can see where a torch for this would be better than the heat gun as it applied more direct ... maybe with a heat gun if you held the bait by the wire that you could detect the heat application and know when to "Swish" it ?? Will try it shortly. JSC
  7. Thanx Guys I want to keep it with powder paint and not get into any more painting equipment (Really not much at painting) .. I think I will use the tips as to making a 4" cup (Shallow) and dipping as per George suggestion. Anyone have any more suggestions or comments on using a shallow 4" cup ??? JSC
  8. Make a few spinners baits for my self all along and have started powder painting jigs with out to much trouble but would like to know the trick to Powder Painting Spinner baits .. Bending the Wire ? (which I do not like to do, but what I did) Larger "Cup" ?? "Dusting" them with a brush ? Sure would like to know the easiest way. Thanx JSC

  11. Attached is a shot of some plastics from some of my old molds. Top is "Chunks" From 1961 Middle is "Shiner" From 1961 Bottom 2 are "Wampus Cats" from 1961. (Detail does not show up good with this color combination) Ran then with some scrap plastic. I have read here of some of you wanting some big "stuff" ... I have limited production on the "WC" and the "Shiner". PM if interested. JSC
  12. Speaking of size of fish ... just being curious .. what is the weight of the one I am landing in my avatar (or what ever you call it) ??? Not my largest just second to it. Riverjigin on the amount of softner you may have to "Play" with it a little as it is hard to tell what you have left from not getting mixed .. maybe start with a spoonfull in 8oz. JSC
  13. MT Let us know how it turns out ... You Might have some good tips after this project. JSC

    Fluid Bed Lids

Can any one point me to a supplier of the lids for Fluid Bed Cups? I have googled but not found them. Thanx JSC
  19. MTfishingrods, Clamboni is guiding you right .. mixing different metals around water is asking for trouble ... plus other than aluminum is adding weight that you do not want or need. I modified one with out metal only wood that came out good. All in the bracing to give it strength. Hope it turns out OK JSC
  20. Mike I had a little trouble with them years ago .. sent them back and he filled in the gap with epoxy ... most of his stock molds have held up fairly well .. the ones I really need .. the short custom ones collapsed even with the epoxy backing. After over 40 years (30 not in use) I guess I was lucky they held up so long. The custom job was really used heavily for some time. Maybe some one else can elighten us some more. JSC
  21. I saw the molds in this thread and I had to go dig out these ... the ones that look like they were made by LC were made by Carolina Novelty ... The short ones I had custom made .. so maybe Carolina made them for LC ... I will look up Carolina Novelty .. within the last couple of years I saw an add on Carolina and I checked and the fellow that was making them was still doing a little of it .. I had several of the short one that needed repairs I sent them to him and he could not do anything with them and did not have the old model to build me some more .. I originally had 25 of them (100 cavities) only have 3 at the present. Thought the other molds would be of interest to some of you. All of these are from the early and mid 60's. From Left to right 1. Only a couple was planning on testing for Saltwater trolling .. never did get to ... 1961. Using cook in the mold Plastisol. 2. & 3. These 2 piece "Round Worms" were made to use with cook in the Mold Plastisol .. hard to work with .. 1961. 4. (lower) Frog Chunk Custom made 1961 .. Have 24 of them and planning on doing a little with them. All of the above were purchased from "666 Plastics" and I have no idea as to who they had make them (I still have several others that I got from them ... all were originally made for "Cook In The Mold". --------- 5. (Bottom) Is a knock of a OLD Betts lure I called it the "Wampus Cat" The mold was made with Epoxy and I used it with Hot Melt 1961 6. Custom made silicon rubber 3/4 round worm .. from "Carolina Novelty" around 1963 or 64. 7. 6" 3/4 Round Worm silicon rubber ... one of my main worms .. 1962 or 63. 8. 8" 3/4 Round Worm silicon rubber ... will make (not the mold) on request .. 1962 or 63 Hope you can see these OK. when you reduce them down they harder to see the details. Just some stuff out of the past and some that I intend to put back into production. Later JSC
  22. Smallie See this thread (read it all) "Federal Excise Tax On Fishing Tackle" JSC
  23. ChadK If you have the 10% included in the cost of the item .. that is sufficient. I used the add on at the balance of the invoice if it had not been included as an example. Sorry for the confusion. By the way (this was given to me by a IRS agent who was checking me & I got credit for back a few years) if price includes excise tax it would be calculated at .09091. Some actually add on the 10% at the end of the invoice which is what I would do if I had it on consignment. The 60% comes into effrect when Selling Retail. JSC
  24. Scott .. I have not checked lately but there was.. smaller pots example smaller Deep Fry pots .. I used ne of Sears Specials for many years to cook my plastic in before pouring into a "Wax Dropper" The electrical connection are in bad shape at the present but I have drilled it and built a "Stirring" assembly for it .. got to get a tap the right size whenever I get a chance ... this will help me in making 2 color pours .. --------------------------- Mbroggi1 Thanx for the tip on "Flattening" the nozzle .. I can see where that will help with the open mold stuff, Thanx JSC
  25. Yankee. If its fishing you want I don't think you can find an area like the River -- Bay System it is outstanding .. JSC
