  1. Mike you know the original ones -- Bettle spin Bodies -- as far as I know, were made with the "Cook In The Mold" Vinyl .... Later on they came out with a little "Fatter Body" that I think were made with this machine. Would really like to see it in operation.
  2. Have seen a lot of different ways to do this job but never one just like this... Would really like to know how it works .. have some ideas but ....
  3. Mark You Really Need another Pot to Clean Your Lead In ... Still Flux the lead in your pouring pot as well but melt down and clean up scrap & etc in a seperate Pot just for this purpose. Saves a Mess.
  4. You can get a "Smear" with an Ink Jet pinted label (ink jet is cheaper) . Laser is another story but Higher priced especialy Multi Color. On Line Labels offer a good quality label at a good price and they match up with Avery (which is the standard for printer labels)
  5. "Cadillac of Wire Benders" ++++
  6. With LEAD You are going to get the corrosion . As TF said coat them with Epoxy or Powder Paint. I am not fimiliar with what Aluminum will do over a course of time. With Molds you are not letting the Plastilsol COAT or Sit for any length of time ... I have cast Aluminmu Molds from back in the 60's and the only ones that have any corrosin are those that got wet accidently in storage. In regards to Nail Polish .. unless it has been changed .... WILL react with the plastisol .. the Nail polish reacts as the same with Lacquer. Hope that helps

    Tying With Wire

I have an old pack of them ,, Parker O Rings ... Part # 2-008 -- Sorry but that is all I have. You can go to hardware and find the one that you think will work or buy several and find out which works the best for you. Hope that helps a little.

    Tying With Wire

Tried a lot of different wire and have settled on 24 Gauge - 100 ft Steel Galvanized Wire (ooks brand..Picture hanging wire) ... very flexible and easy to twist .. Everyone finds what works best for them and your own method of tying ... I use the "O" ring for placement .. easy to come off for reuse .. use safety wire pliers for the "Twisting" ..
  9. Back in the "Ice Age" when I applied for submitting my FET I was issued a Fed EIN number at that time .. Dont know how they do it these days but next time I am aduited for FET will ask .. All of the agents that I have been associated with in the past were very helpfull .. There are one or two other points about calculating FET but I dont think I want to "Muddy The Water " any more than it is. X cept the 60% deal. This is an industry accepted (but not allways adheared to) is that a retailer will make 40% of the SELLING PRICE as his GROSS Margin of Profit .. so if you are makeing and retailing you would pay on the 60% of what YOU sold it for all others pay the FET on what the full amount they sell it for. Side Note .. for years I was audited once a year (FET) but for the last several have not been I know they have made a lot of changes and I assumed that this was one of them .. Just as they quit sending out the Quarterly 720 and I did not know about it and failed to send out one quarter on time and of course I was charged a penalty .. have a batch of blank 720's printed out and calanders all marked on when to mail out. They "Play For Keeps" so keep Good Books and pay your taxes.

    Slip On Skirts

Hi I belive Hildbrandt bought out the company that was makeing the skirts for them (I think it was RaT Trap) been a few years .. I think that is the only place that you can get them... Might Check out H&H possible that they might have a few ... Been several years since the old skirts have been available. The ones that Hildebrandt have - have a smaller collar as it just fits over the hook and not onto a holding stem for the "Sally" ... Hard to keep the "Tied On" ot "Banded" Silicon / Rubber skirts from "Flareing" and causing the lure to Spin" instead of the flat no spin of the "Streaming Skirt" Good Luck
  11. I noticed that this one was not given .. http://www.sta-warm.com/plastisol.htm Hope this helps a little
  12. Just a Note .. I have not seen mentioned any where on this subject the fact that You have a bait that is selling like "Gang Busters" today and maybe for a Year .. It can go as dead as can be (at any time) something to consider ... Haveing been a "jobber Salesman" in the industry for more years than some of you are old (jealous me) I have seen this happen many times ..lots of work having to close out these lures that just go dead .. Lure business is one of the trickiest out there and my hat is off to any one who suceeeds (well maby a couple .. no) The market is constantly changing .. been retired for several years and a lot has changed but this one fact has not. GOOD LUCK

    Melting Pot

"I have a Lee ingot mold that I just put under, there are other things you can do like using lapping compound, but I just stick the ingot mold under until I'm done." Ditto ...... Glove will help on splatters ..They tell you not to but a slight tap on top end of plunger sometimes helps ... do not tap it enough to damage.
  14. Its not Mineral Oil .... Mineral Oil is not compatable with Plastisol. Been there Done that
  15. Looks Like they were Vacumn Formed
  16. "Painter 1 Said= Do they make an oversized elastic band that would allow maneuvering the strands after skirt is on the jig? I think I could do the wire wrap if something like a band is holding the skirt in place while wrapping it.. " Use a slightly larger "O" Ring ... slip on to stem (With strands on as near as you would like for them to be) ... slide the strands the way you want them .. then wrap with wire ... slide "O" ring off .. You need to try several different size "O" rings until you get the size you can work with best
  17. Use the "O" Rings (easy to slide off when finished wrappin with wire) .. wrap with wire .. Note on the Hard as Nails ... I understand Plastisol will soften it ...
  18. Jerry hate to see you go as you have done an outstanding job ... best of luck. Curt & LPO Welcome and we expect you to keep us at the high level Jerry has set... JSC

  22. BLT .. Thanx will check out a little further. Good Info
  23. BLT Said "Minwax polyurethane in the bluish green can. I make many jigs for tackle shops and private deals, and a $17 can has lasted 2 years. Even use it to double coat some jigs." Whats the Number of that one ?? Does Soft Plastic attack it ?? thanx
