  1. Don't know, just researched by type.
  2. Brite-bak and burnish
  3. Did not pass the submersion test for me, it turned cloudy over night. Easy to use and easy to clean just not for me.
  4. Polyester resin does have some drawbacks, here's a comparison of poly vs epoxy resin.............. http://www.redrockstore.com/resin.htm http://www.ehow.com/about_5932927_polyester-resin-vs_-epoxy-resin.html
  5. I'm having the same issues on the 1.5 and 2.5 bills. It must be something with the new formula, it sticks to paint good as ever. I just stopped dipping before the bill.

    Lip Angle

Thanks guys. I figured on adding ballast on the belly. I took a similar bait and weighed it and adding the difference to my bait. Just looking to run a maximum of 3ft and a fast rise is good when plowing it through trees.

    Lip Angle

Hey guys, I've cut out some balsa bodies and not sure what angle to mount the lip. I'm starting with a 3 1/4" flat side bait and want it to run 1 - 3ft. the lip is 1" x 3/4". Any thoughts? Thanks Bob
  9. One concern I have is baits in a hot tackle box banging around. If heat softens this finish wouldn't it get damaged on a hot summer day in your boat storage while your running around the lake?
  10. My experience with added hardener is mixed. Be careful how you heat it,. it will scorch easier.
  11. http://www.alumilite.com/MSDS/Amazing%20Clear%20Cast.pdf In reading the info on ACC, it says to avoid exposure to moisture and temps above 130. I bet some storage bins get that hot on a bass boat. Any thoughts?

    Bandit Blanks

Picked up some from Academy for 2.88. Close out colors and old stock.
  14. I've used a cup and an injector on small mold and the cup is easier for me. Seems like those small baits are the hardest to pour. Keep your plastic hot and mold warm. I have a presto pot but on those small baits I'm usually doing small batches and don't want to heat that much plastic. Sure which there was a smaller version of the presto!
  15. I've messed around with the crackle medium and found a couple things affect how it works. Textured baits need a thick coat of the medium to get a smooth surface for the crackle to work best. You need to shoot a thick coat of paint, the thinner the paint layer the less crackle you get. I heat dry the medium then paint and heat dry paint.
  16. Can't really compare or comment until we see it. Get a video up and then lets talk.
  17. You need to measure exact amounts to use Etex, i use the syringe method mentioned above. I like the durability over D2t but it does take a little more effort. Mix at least 3 minutes and scrape the sides of the mixing vessel regularly. It's great stuff just picky.

  19. There is a lot of info online.............. Phthalates, called “plasticizers,” are a group of industrial chemicals used to make plastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) more flexible or resilient and also as solvents. Phthalates are nearly ubiquitous in modern society, found in, among other things, toys, food packaging, hoses, raincoats, shower curtains, vinyl flooring, wall coverings, lubricants, adhesives, detergents, nail polish, hair spray and shampoo. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system. Several phthalate compounds have caused reduced sperm counts, testicular atrophy and structural abnormalities in the reproductive systems of male test animals, and some studies also link phthalates to liver cancer, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s 2005 National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals. Though the CDC contends the health hazards of phthalates to humans have not been definitively established, for some years, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has regulated phthalates as water and air pollutants. The Environmental Working Group has focused on phthalates since 1998, when EWG reported that dibutyl phthalate found in 37 nail polishes was also present in the bodies of every single American tested. A 2000 EWG analysis of CDC data, called Beauty Secrets, found that dibutyl phthalate was present in the bodies of every single person tested for industrial pollutants. In 2003, EWG published its seminal Body Burden study, finding 210 industrial and consumer product chemical, among them, a half-dozen phthalates, in nine adult Americans who had agreed to submit their blood and urine to laboratory analysis. In 2007 EWG published a Parents Buying Guide, a safety guide to help parents find children’s personal care products that are free of phthalates and other potentially dangerous chemicals. In July 2008, as a result of pressure from EWG and other health groups, the U.S. Congress passed legislation banning six phthalates from children’s toys and cosmetics. Legislators in Washington, Vermont and California have restricted phthalate use in children’s goods, and several major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, Lego, Evenflo and Gerber say they will phase out phthalate-laden toys. EWG advocates a cumulative assessment of the human health risks, especially to infants, of phthalates. As well, EWG is working for passage of a new federal Kid-Safe Chemicals Act to reform the nation’s toxic chemical law to assure that chemicals are safe for babies, children and other vulnerable groups before they are allowed on the market.
  20. Presto pot is too big for a lot of my stuff too, was wondering if you could put something in the middle of the pot to take up space to allow smaller amounts of plastic? Aluminum disc?

    Opaque Baits

Should there be enough white to make the hot plastic opaque before adding the red,
  24. Is there a better way to make baits opaque other than adding salt. Working on a red shad with Bear's colors and I need a more solid color on the red side.
