  1. that bait looks awsome. I've got to figure out how to use that hair for fins.
  2. you also have to remember that weight placement will be different on all of these. and they all have different types of actions
  3. thanks john I'll have to try that.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong but these are pvc and if so what do you carve these with (knife, dremel tool, ect.)? by the way amazing looking bait.
  5. A fully primed and painted lure w/epoxy clear, only increased the weight 10-15% and had no effect on any lure we tested, floating, suspending, or whatever. Some stock lures right out of the box varied by up to 50%! That just hit me like a ton of bricks, 50%. Wow
  6. I made some football jigs with silicone and rubber and they look great(hope that doesn't sound arrogant) but I haven't fished them so I don' know how good they work.
  7. I agree with mark. I put a number two triple grip on the front, but my baits are only 5 inches or so.
  8. oh yeah, remember if the head swims the body should follow
  9. try moving your weight around untill they swim right.make sure your joints move smoothly. I like to use two screw eyes per hinge . and don't worry about making them look so good until they swim right.
  10. I laminate mine first with a small amount of elmers glue so it's easy to split after i've carved it and cut it in sections (first piece longest last piece shortest). I wieght it with the weight tapering from the midle back in the front section, i place it inthe middle of the middle section and forward of the last section.hope this helps.
  11. I got bored one day and carved one out of balsa. I carved the claws separately and and added the to the body with a piano wire hinge system. Most of the weight is in the tail with just a small amount in the claws to help keep them pointing slightly forward while the body stands straight up. used rubber skirt material for antennas. haven't even sealed it yet but hope to fish it around beds this spring.
  12. if youre really disapointed that it didn't swim right the first time i'll trade with ya. where is the weight placement?
  13. would you have to mark the hook on jig when sketching the style onto the paper
  14. when making a mold? could you use a spoon the froont of a spoon for the tail instead of a spinner bait blade
  15. I believe I read on here a while back where someone got drunk and tried this with a shad, but only managed to cook it. I think they said they couldn't enter their garage for awhile.
