  1. On there website it says that their FG30 weedguard with .021 strands has 24 strands and the new "Y" weedguard has 9 to 10 strands at .021 in each arm. They will be 4 to 6 strands shy of a normal FG30 weedguard with .021 strands.
  2. Again, that is what MS word will do for you. It will do the ratios of length and height. If you want to do the ratios of length, height, and depth that is 3D software and it will probably cost more than your computer.
  3. I have photo editing software but I find it easier to scale a picture with microsoft word. You can scale the picture by percentage and you also have rulers to see exactly how big the picture is before you print it.
  4. I agree with Ben it all has to come together. Action plays a part and color plays a part but my experience has shown that detail has not played a part. An all white bait catches just as many fish as a white bait with scales, fins, gill plates, etc. We spent a whole fishing season testing this theory and we found no need to pay for more detail. That being said I still like detail in a bait so I think the only thing that maters is confidence.
  5. I had a business for a few years and did very well. The only reason I shut it down was because I became disabled. As time went on it started to get a bit easier because the companies would come to me which allowed me to make more baits. I started out making for myself but everyone said I should sell some and it went from there. I had a hard time in the begining because I let the next guy decide how my business was going to be run price, quality, etc. Once I decided it didn't matter what the next guy did it only matters what I can do and what I think it is worth that things became much much easier. Now I am back to making baits as a hobby and I love it. I can now spend 20 hours building a hand carved swimbait and absolutley love the end result but I couldn't do that if I was still running a business. I do miss making baits for everyone else but I love making them for myself.

    Pin Vises

I wasn't complaining. I just wanted to post that so nobody went to the site thinking they were going to get them for a $1.91.

    Pin Vises

They are $3.05 a piece. If you buy 336 or more you can get them for $1.91 a piece which comes out to a minimum order of $641.76 to get the bulk pricing.
  8. There are some guys that have made their own cups with good results but I have not. Everything I tried had the same results that you are having. Once I bought the right cups my problems were solved. The ones here only cost $7. I have been using them for several years now. http://tjstackle.com/
  9. Frank is correct. You can match any old color by mixing new colors together. Here is the recipe I came up with a couple years ago for the old green pumpkin that Lure Craft use to have. I made it a little darker but you can change the formula to make it lighter if you want. The formula is for 2 cups of plastic and the numbers are for drops. So the first color is 32 drops of Lure Crafts new green pumpkin or the green pumpkin they have now. These are all LC's colors. 32 Green Pumpklin (New) 4 Pumpkinseed (New) 10 Moss Green 10 Chocolate Brown 1/2 tsp. Black .035
  10. RAWjigs, I have been using the BDI o-rings for several years now and I have not had one break or dry rot either.
  11. nedyarb, it sounds like you got a great deal. $38 for 2000 o-rings and that included shipping. If you bought them through fishingskirts.com you would have paid $200 and that does not include the shipping.
  12. Thanks Mark. The bait looked so good that I knew it was going to be a fish catcher but now I know it will hold up.
  13. My info came straight from Lurecraft when the green pumpkin changed. So as far as Lurecraft is concerned the info is exact and the new colors they have should be good for alot of years to come.
  14. This will be a problem with most color suppliers because they buy the coloring in a 50+ gallon drum and it takes up to 20 years to sell off that drum. During the years that they are selling off that color it has changed so when it comes time to order the color again, well you know how that goes. So you can switch suppliers but it won't solve your problem much. You are actually better off staying with Lure Craft because the new colors they are getting will be good for about another 20 years before the color changes again. Alot of the natural pigments that are being used to make these dyes are slowing switching over to cheaper man made pigments and that is one of the big reasons for the color changes.
  15. I guess the question is are you wanting to make your jig heads a solid color or add detail. If you are making them a solid color then an airbrush really isn't needed but if you want detail then the way I do it will work very well for you. I made a couple of boxes of realistic swim jigs last year to test and to be honest I don't plan on using them anymore because the solid color swim jigs out fished the realistic swim jigs 100% of the time. Seriously, not once did the realistic swim jigs out fish the reagular ones once.
  16. I base coat the jig with white powder paint. Then I paint the bait with water based paints the same way I do a crankbait. Last a coat or 2 of devcon 2 ton.
  17. Thanks Skeeter. That should save us from messing up a bunch of baits.
  18. I was curious about your post so I just walked across the street to Ace Hardware to look at the D2T and there was no problem here. It did say on the package that you could add chalk to color it but it wasn't in the product. I talked to the guy at Ace to see if the product was changing and he got on his computer and said he didn't see any changes for Devcon. So from what I have found out here the Devcon is going to stay the same at Ace. I did research on the internet to try and find what you bought but couldn't find anything. I like you do not want to switch and I don't want to ruin any baits so can you post a pic of the package so we know what to look for. Thanks
  19. I have ordered many times from Dakota and have never had a problem. He is easy to talk to and more than willing to help with any questions you have. Good blanks, great pricing, and fast shipping.
  20. I got the notification instantly with the last post you made. First time I got it quickly since the upgrade. I still don't have notifications by email of the other communications we have had today. Something has gotten fixed today.
  21. I have a hotmail address. I haven't gotten any of the notifications in our recent posts. I won't get them till tomorrow. Again it is not a big thing for me, I just wanted to make sure you knew while you were getting all the bugs worked out.
  22. This is not a big problem for me but just wanted to let you know that it takes alot of time to get any notification. I don't know the exact time but over a day.
  23. He is out of Canada. He is selling blanks from an oversees company. He is a great guy but the blanks he is dealing with are not consistent at all, at least they were not for me. Unfortunately he has no control over the quality but he does try his best to make it right with you. I haven't dealt with him in a couple of years so the factory may be making a better product now. At the prices he is selling them for it could be worth the gamble.
