  1. Those look great. I have been looking at the Craftsman lathe for a while now but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Mark, have you tried the lathe on PVC yet?

I think by weighting the baits in 2 places instead of one might keep it on track.
  3. I just dip and hang with wire. As long as you use the smallest wire you can get away with the wire won't leave a mark. You can't hang the blade with the same wire you dipped with. If I remember tomorrow I will post some pics. I have a couple hundred painted.

    2nd PVC carved swimbait

Thanks for the comments guys. This is also the first bait I have done with Etex.
  6. Thanks guys. Sorry, I have no way of filming it. I am very addicted to making these swimbaits.
  7. I just posted a pic in the gallery of my second swimbait I carved. It is a floating glider gizzard shad. It is 8 1/4" long and weighs 5 ounces. It swims great. It has a wide glide and will do a 180 very easy. Please give your opinions, good or bad.

  10. Were you able to solve any of your problems?
  11. The EX-74 has some UV inhibitors put into it. I read were the test results didn't show any difference though.
  12. Looks great Mark. Keep us posted on the results.
  13. Do you have a link? I tried but couldn't find him.
  14. AC1315 has xzylene in it which is corrosive to plastic. The xzylene evaparates as it is cured. If your baits are not cured it will eat through plastic. If your baits are cured then it will not eat through the plastic. There are several guys here locally that us it and none of us have had a problem. One of the plastic baits I used for my test was a zoom fat albert grub and I had no problems. My baits hang for a week and a half before they get hooks. Hope this helps.
  15. There are couple videos on youtube. I could explain but you should watch a video. Once you see how it is done it becomes very easy.
  16. I say go for it. Those that go for it are better off in the long run with their decision making than those who have never gone after it. If you fail you will have a much better understanding of how to approach the next adventure. Just do your home work to the best of your ability and be realistic.
  17. I have never painted over it so I can't tell you. I dip the whole bait including the bill.
  18. Thanks alot Mark, I have never wanted to be in California but it is all I can think about right now.
  19. The silicone is for making your molds and the resin is what your jigs are made out of. The resin is as easy as mixing together and pouring and you can make it float or sink however you want with microbaloons. It is also very durable. You can get it all from here http://www.alumilite.com/store/pg/19-Products.aspx Also check out all the how-to videos on their website. There is nothing wrong with the way you are doing it now but if you want a far more durable product with some options to do other things this is a great alternative.
  20. Jig Man is correct. Once you get the hang of it you will never fill in a hook eye again. I just use the old toothpick and I am able to do hundreds in a sitting. When I first started powder coating many years ago I hung my first batch up by the eye and I created a very big problem. I created a sharp edge were the wire was on the eye at and I had to clean every eye out because it would cut my line.
  21. They look great Jeff. I think Dave is right. It would be very easy to use RTV and resin.
  22. Thanks Skeeter. That is what I love about this site, enough people get involved in a problem and then somebody steps it up to solve it, this time it was my turn. You have done your share of stepping up to the challenge and solving others problems over the years.
