Robzilla.....personally i like the it good blend of the colors...my go to (and most frequently painted color scheme) is a blue gill... the California Delta ,where i primarily fish, is gill heaven always have one tied on...keep it up you'll hit one your'e satisfied with..surfk9
  2. Very nice JR....thank you for sharing...this little piece of wisdom will be put to good use on my next project...thanks again, surfk9
  3. Thanks for the reply Mark....The plaster of paris comment was a "senior" thing i had Pop in quotations apparently spell check changed it.....so much for proof reading one's comment before posting.
  4. Mark I have question about Sally Hansen product...do you apply this prior to painting or after??? I was reading about the product ...some of the "users" (that would be nail polish users) mentioned that they like the result of "In the Spotlight" applying it over a base color...that it really made the colors 'POP'...just trying to get the sequence right Must say the associate working the nail polish section in the local CVS gave me weird looks after my questioning of her as to where it was located and the process to apply it...LOL
  5. It may sound cliche` ....but please hang in there Dieter....as all have said dementia is an awful trick to play on us ....i'm certain we all have family or friends touched by this dreaded problem...you've been an inspiration & help to me over my membership in TU, thank you...mike mckibbin aka surfk9

  14. TU members thanks for your responses....I'm sure there will be a learning curve (hopefully my blood pressure doesn't go off the chart..i tend to be an excitable boy...read that OLD MAN) yesterday i shaped a 6 inch three pc "glider-style bait"....put the ballast in last evening....whew took awhile six different spots to get the nose down horizontal drop aspect about 11/2 ounces of egg sinkers....filled with bondo...sanded ready to put a thin D2T coat for painting....drilled 3/8 holes with my forstner bit did a little expansion with dremel things went somewhat smoothly....question about the pre-made belly weights ...are the eyes stainless steel??? have never used these...may try them to add weight therefore trimming the ballast issue ....again thanks...michel
  15. Ben thanks for the reply and suggestions...the pencil lead i use sounds similar to what you mentioned it's a quarter inch rolled on a small spool...out here on the coast surf fishermen use it ....thanks again...michel
  16. Tried to edit the original...couldn't figure out how to edit a second time...another question can i spray createx directly onto the azek without a pre-seal coat (realize i don't need pre-seal for waterproofing...just to make better painting surface)....maybe i should check out my video fro JR to refresh my senior memory...have tried putting together a lure from JR ...I apparently don't have the PATIENCE he has...mine are not working exactly up to par...my wife says "It's called PRACTICE...MIchel"...gets back to that patience thing LOL
  17. I've been addicted to this hobby (obsession!!!) for the last eight years.....poplar & basswood have been material of choice...following several years of reading of the benefits of PVC I ordered an 18 foot piece of Azek trim board....for ballast i've used lead weights (egg sinkers, worm sinkers, pencil lead whatever i need for the particular lure) most of my builds are cranks in the 4-5 inch size, with a few gliders in the 6-8 inch length...Azek appears to be more buoyant than either the poplar or basswood...will I be able to use the same techniques for ballast as I have in the past?? Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks...michel
  18. Just curious....yesterday I posted a comment and question to a pic in the Hardbait gallery...this morning the comment was nowhere to be seen??? did I not post it (possibly..I am a legal Senior in most states)...just bewildered....any ideas
  19. Thanks for the replies to my question concerning AC as a pre-seal , i've been using two ton...BobP has some good points concerning toughness/waterproofing that i feel are characteristics that maybe i was taking for granted....thanks again..
  20. Gentlemen have a question....i still wood carve my lures ....can i use the AC as a pre-seal prior to painting ( with createx or other water based paints) ??? thanks
