  1. This one has all you need and should work real well. Look at the specs.... CFM's.. I like the clean looks, portability and price too.. Husky Air Scout - 41214 at The Home Depot They warranty well all over the US too..
  2. Just from looking at the specs of this one, It may be a good option. Husky Air Scout - 41214 at The Home Depot
  3. Once you learn how to wire tie them faster, The zip tie is slower. Plus it looks bulky and terrible on a finished bait. The extra cost is also something I don't like. Using wire with 2 wraps makes the skirt "poof" with body and the finish product looks alot cleaner.
  4. Good post Bob... I always use the biggest hook I can get away with. But I'm targeting smallmouth in ultra clear water. My goal is a thin 3 in bait. When I originally posted. My first batch of finished baits would barely float with #8 hooks. Thats why I posted the original question. My second batch was from different wood and on the turning wheel... As soon as I took them off, I hooked them up and they floated so much better. Thats why I posted so soon afterwards that I have the problem solved and don't need any help/suggestions. That stuck me funny and made the joke "Thanks for nothing" because I fixed my own problem so soon... Not saying I was expecting help sooner. I have been on message boards for lots of years and am a mod of some too. Many people read too deep into a thread. Things that can be taken a few ways normally are taken wrong. BTW.... Did I say my baits float great?
  5. You guys need to lighten up.. The is all in fun... No lines to read between. Life is too short to be grumpy... I'm never grumpy.
  6. I have been T fishing for 28 years. I can catch them just fine on #8 trebles. You guys are now posting after I solved my problem ...
  7. BTW... The manufacturer of the Makitas also make the Porta Cable. Atleast they used too. Mine is an oil-less model and is louder and more rpms than these newer models.... But until mine fails, I will be using it. The compressors I have owned, Don't like the Michigan winters. So I'll just live with it or invest in some good ear plugs for the entire family.
  8. I hear you loud and clear... I just hope your not a smoker and explaining about healthy lungs. This would make an awsome compressor>>> Makita "Hot Dog" Air Compressor 2 HP, Model# MAC700 | 3 - 10 CFM | Northern Tool + Equipment Mine is bigger, But I'm a drywall finisher and also spray texture walls/cielings. My hopper needs alot of air delivery and mine has worked flawlessly for years. It only runs 50% of the time spraying texture, Thats an awesome feat. My airbrush cant even make it go on hardly.
  9. I spray in my basement with a booth/vent system. I also use water based paints and no solvent based anything. I agree that outside would be better, But not in Michigan at this time
  10. Buy the most CFM @ 40 lbs you can afford.. I have a Makita mac-air 2200 that has 6.1 CFM @ 90 lbs and 8.? at 40 lbs... It's loud, But don't run much or very long. I think I might leave it in the garage and get a longer hose to fish into the house. The more hose you have, adds to the volume of the tank. Cycles even less.
  11. The dowels I bought from home depot float much better than the dowels I bought at the craft store... I can use any hook I want now.

  13. OK... 38 looks and no help? I solved my trouble. I switched to a different wood that floats much better. Now I can use whatever hooks I want. Thanks for nothing...
  14. I will be using these for bass fishing and need something light wire to help float my baits properly. The smallest hooks can be #8 trebles. How small of a split ring will hold up to bass fishing? SS or copper etc? Eagle Claw used to make a teflon coated short shank feather lite hook. Anything similar? Will a "00" split ring hold up? I thought they were rated for lb test etc? OK... Who makes the lightest short shank treble and lightest strong split ring?
  15. I just wire tie my rubber on the wrinkle and works fine.
  16. You guys are not pulling the material hard enough when you cut. I have bought and tied thousands of pounds of this. Cut the desired length 1/4 in longer than you want, Then after you stretch and cut it, It's perfect.
  17. I have talked to the productknowledge specialists at E-Tex and they tell me that the crystal sheen is the toughest product they make. I have been using it for quite a while and have not seen any yellowing. The amount of material on the baits don't show it, Like it would maybe on a table top with a much thicker application. E-tex has no solvents.... I like that. Can't say that about others mentioned here... BTW.... It's harder than D2T
  18. After the skirt is pushed on, wrap the collar with a piece of 22 gauge copper craft wire tight and clip off the tag ends close and bend over. Then pull the whole skirt pad and cut close to your fingers with a dull pair of scissors. Each strip will shoot back individually. Pull tight and cut slow...
  19. Guys, I realize you get what you pay for... But we all cnt't buy a caddilac/ferarri for everything.... We have to make sacrifices and thought this might be worth a try. I'm spraying with folk art acrylics, $3.00 air brush and getting good results and praises from people that know alot more than me.
  20. But I have been using these with good results. I would think this would be an upgrade for me.. Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices
  21. Looks like an option for guys like me with thin wallets. Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices
  22. I use a oven range hood. I built 3 sides around with plywood at a height I can adj with wing nuts. It can only suck from the front. Vents upward into a furnace vent and then into a 6-8 in flex hose with another furnace vent going into the plywood cut to fit the window but small enough to use pipe insulation foam with a split in it. I wrapped the foam around the edges so its a tight fit. The great thing about doing this is it has lights underneath with different fan speeds and light settings. I pour lead and paint with this set up. I do this in my basement. The filters catch the paint and need cleaning now and then. I use water based acrylic paints though.
