  1. As for shipping, I'm just wondering if you contacted Jeff and asked him about shipping it usps flat rate? He's usually pretty good about working with you.
  2. I'd pay good money to see him fit a pint bottle in a small flat rate box... You could probably fit 6 or 8 1oz bottles in one, but Jeff is phasing out the 1oz size for 2oz size.
  3. I figured it may have been a health issue. I've done business with Bob for some time, and as I've posted before he may take a while but he's not a fraud, thief or cheat as some have speculated. Here's to a full and speedy recovery.
  4. http://ultramolds.com/product-category/injection-systems/shooting-star-system/ How many baits you can shoot with a 6 oz injector depends on the size of the baits obviously (and how many cavities you have).
  5. What are you stirring with? If you're using something made of wood that could be the problem.
  6. I never even considered he might be doing that, good point. I always shoot the first half, lift and cut the sprue, slap the other half of the mold on and shoot the second color.

    Rootbeer.

Plenty of ready made root beers out there. I suppose you could brown up some orange and get there too...
  8. Once you get in a rhythm the laminate plate is pretty fast. Keeping 2 colors close in temp when using a twinjector can be a pain, but there are times when it has to be used.
  9. Pretty close to the same.
  10. If you look closer, MF saltwater is $62 / gallon shipped. That puts it pretty close to most other plastics once you add the shipping.
  11. Exactly! Most people seem to think "I'm just making it for myself" or "I'm not selling them" gets them around patent infringement (of course it doesn't) similar to the "if it's 10% different it doesn't violate the patent" myth. I have a friend who owns a lure company that made a bladed swim jig that was awesome. He got a C&D from Zman. His bsg was clearly not a violation of the "hook connected directly to the blade" patent but he decided not to fight it because even if he won, he would never be able to sell enough baits to pay for the court fight.
  12. If you're using a laminate plate temp isn't as critical as when using a twinjector. The usual cause of what you're showing in the pics is the first half lifting when the second half is shot. When you cut the sprue off the first half, cut the nose of the bait at 45 degrees (angling back from the bottom (round side) towards the top (flat side). This creates a "ramp" for the second half of the plastic to flow up and on top of the first half (while sort of pushing down on the leading edge of the first half). Also, your second shot should be slow and steady to help prevent lifting (even with the cut I described).
  13. My notes are sort of jumbled but the top was either 30 drops of MF watermelon brown or 20 drops of Del's black melon to 4 oz of plastic. I have both written on there and I'm not sure which I ended up with (but I think it was wm brown).
  14. I've found the boss weed guards have a taper on the fused end and (almost) always slide in without any problem. It's been a while since I bought ant so I don't know if that's changed or not.
  15. Pieterbez: It is almost exact in person (he sent me a couple exemplars) my photography skills are very lacking. rhahn: I'll take a look at my notes next time I'm in the shop and let you know.
  16. This is what I ended up with for the bottom... 4 oz plastic 20 drops MF pumpkin orange 1 or 2 drops LC white pinch (1/16 tsp) 015 red flake
  17. I made that color as a special order for a guy last year. I'll look through my notes and see if I can find it for you.

    BTS Molds

There are a some mold makers who only service the hobbyist bait pourer, there are a some others who service the hobbyist pourers and the mass production guys and a third group who service the hobbyists, mass producers AND the aerospace and the firearms industry. How quickly they answer the phone or emails about your $100 2 cavity mold depends on which group of machinists they fall in to. Normally hobbyist molds are the lowest priority. None of the good machinists are going to starve if you don't order a mold from them. I spoke to one who said he was seriously thinking about not doing any more special sales because he would get swamped with orders and then people would bitch about the time frame.

Yes, they are still in business. They're very busy.
  20. You'll find MF doesn't settle out like many of the others, so mixing isn't a problem. I get it in 5 gallon jugs and just pick them up and shake them a little and they're good to go.
  21. It was a hot color at Lake Shasta when I lived in northern California. Hadn't heard of anyone using it here at Fork though, but then again nobody tells me anything LOL.
  22. I'm just going from memory (although I have several packs out in the boat) but those look too orangy for 176 on my monitor. Here's 176 from TW website
  23. Goes to show the difference in monitors. If you didn't say that was cinnamon I'd say it was pumpkin or root beer.
