  1. I had someone ask me to shoot some 221 (cinnamon with black and purple flake) yesterday. I've always been a proponent of MF cinnamon to match the Yamamoto color, but without heavy salt it's way too black. Since I had a bag of 221 swim senkos on the shelf I started playing with the color and looking at what was on the shelf. This is what I came up with and it's almost dead nuts on... 4 oz plastic 40 drops Bear's scuppernog 2 drops LC white 1 drop black 3 smidgens .035 purple flake 3 smidgens .035 black flake
  2. This one is good too... http://ultramolds.com/product/crazy-craw/
  3. This is probably the closest one you'll find. http://www.lurecraft.com/5-Swimming-Senko-3-Cav-2-Pc-Alum-Injection-Mold/productinfo/5XDEL-17329/
  4. Looking at this from the above link it makes it look like he trademarked the single word Maniac. Maybe I'm just not understanding how it works. "On Wednesday, February 21, 2007, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for MANIAC by MANIAC CUSTOM LURES, LLC, BRIGHAM CITY, UT 84302. The USPTO has given the MANIAC trademark serial number of 77112175."
  5. I'm not very "up" on trademark law. Would his granting of a trademark for a common work in the English language force someone who could document their use of the word before his application was made to stop using it? Does this mean that the word "maniac" is no longer allowed in any product name, ie. maniac blade, maniac crank etc or just as a company name?
  6. There are two things commonly used to make stick baits sink, salt or glass beads. If you're injecting, glass beads can be hard on your injector but they make for more transparent baits than salt.. Use 2 tablespoons of glass beads to 4 oz of plastic. If you use salt, the basic formula is 1 cup plastic, 1/2 cup salt and 1/4 cup softener.
  7. Take a look over on basstackle.com He makes a few.
  8. I think they're trying to make a way for guys to copy the Medlock jig without having to make or modify a mold. The problem is (from what I've been told) the Medlock has a full guard on each side, not a half of one
  9. I use WD 40 and a paper towel to clean the inside of my pots and cups. Works well for me.
  10. MF makes a cinnamon colorant that very very close to Yamamoto
  11. Yes, the teflon pins eliminate that issue. I cast, powder paint and bake my heads with the teflon pins inserted.
  12. My understanding is that MF makes it in-house.
  13. Another vote for teflon pins. Never had an issue with them falling out when powder painting or baking. I've also found that the Boss weed guards have a slight taper on the fused end and when using them I've never had to mess with the hole in the jig when gluing them in.
  14. I'd contact Lee... Sounds like a thermostat problem. The points should have opened long before the pot started to glow. The t-stat in these pots is simply a set of contacts that are either on (closed) or off (open), the coil always runs at 100% when it's running. Heat from the pot itself (heating the air inside the stand) is what acts on the tstat coil.
  15. Lee lead pots are not intended for pouring plastic. They run too hot and are not designed to hold the lower temps plastic requires. All you will do is burn plastic. If you want to use Lee pots, buy one made for plastic (that's what they guys you referred to are using). The microwave and Presto pots mentioned above are also good alternatives.
  16. We all know smoke sparkle never worked on the river... LOL
  17. Check Bob's... http://www.btsmolds.com/
  18. I really like the Basstackle injectors. The tip won't come off unless I take it off. Much safer in my opinion.
  19. +1 Also the orange silicone o rings work much smoother than the black neoprene ones it comes with.
  20. I have a couple of the jigs. The weed guard is black.
  21. I was looking at spike-it's website. What's the difference between pigment and dye?
  22. I was asking about two specific products, I can't find where either have been referred to as far as being used for a lead mold. Thanks though.
