  1. I've used Calhoun, Chemionics and Polyone. Polyone was the one I couldn't get to act the way I wanted it to, had to be way too hot to get it to pour correctly, but that's just my experience with it. Calhoun and Chemionics both pour sweet. What couldn't you figure out about Chemionics?
  2. Looks like this one from Basstackle: basstackle worm mold
  3. I currently only use salt in my baits to make them opaque (not for weight). I'd like to stop using salt all together since it's a pain to keep it constant through a large batch of plastic. My question is, does anyone have any idea of how much white colorant it takes to get the same opaqueness as 1 tbsp of salt (or any other salt to colorant conversion amount)? I know I could just experiment with it but I'm hoping to find a relatively close starting point. Thanks

    Question

I lived there for many years... some of the best fishing in the state. As far as the boiling water... some folks have been known to dip certain swimbaits (like ospreys) in boiling water and then s t r e t c h the tail section making it longer and thinner, thereby giving them a different kick
  5. Jim... he said 5 liters.... That's less that 1.5 gallons.
  6. Thanks guys... Soaking in white vinegar overnight gave the desired effect, and 75 cents worth will probably last 20 years
  7. Ok... So I just poured some wacky heads but the lead is way shiny. I don't necessarily want to powder coat them, I just want them dull (like they were poured 2 years ago). Is there something I can dip them in to take the shine off? I'm thinking vinegar or something but I was hoping someone here has already done all the experimentation and found what works. Thanks
  8. I have Del's 5.25 slim stick mold. It's noticeably thinner than a regular senko, but I've never had a slim senko to compare to.
  9. Bilky's right. There's really no answer to your question as asked. Was it a stock item or custom? If they didn't have one in stock, how much production was already scheduled before you placed your order? I'm like you, I want it as soon as possible. I generally ask if an item is in stock to be shipped before I place the order, and if not, how long will it be before one is ready. You could call the vendor (Skype is pretty reasonable anywhere in the world) and see what's up. Hopefully it's just a glitch and all will work out.
  10. Del is having his buy one get one free mold sale this week...
  11. Del's screw on. I don't have experience with the others.
  12. Thanks Frank... That pic makes it all come together for me.
  13. Could you post a pic of this? Sounds like a really good setup.
  14. Solicitation for what Fred? The op stated in his first post that he was new to soft plastics. Caney merely told him another way to accomplish what he was trying to do, he didn't try to sell him anything.
  15. Mine looks just like yours. Every time I hook up the boat I swear I'm going to do something about it (one day)
  16. Thanks, I'll try it. I have some smokey melon purple flake that I bought from a guy who had a special order done a couple years ago and I've been doing pretty well with them I'm running out and called venom to see about getting them made. They wanted me to order either 1k or 10k, don't remember which.
  17. Not familiar with mean green or bright wm. I have mf wm, mf green watermelon, lurecraft wm, del's wm and dels black melon. Any of those close?
  18. Is anyone familiar with venom baits smokey melon color? Maybe have a recipe?
  19. Just curious... what happens if you put instant coffee granules in hot plastisol? Will it dissolve and create a coffee scent at the same time, or turn into rocks?
  20. Jim... Is your pm box full or do you not accept pm's?
  21. Great resource, thanks... Not sure which way I'll go yet, but I can't see dumping a bunch of money into a vise for the 30 - 50 jigs I tie per year.
  22. That's a great idea! I'm always fighting my pot since I don't have a ton of molds. It's fill a couple, wait for them to cool, demold, and then take the torch to the nozzle to get it flowing again.
  23. Can someone recommend a good, inexpensive fly tying vise for tying jigs? Need something that will hold 4/0 gamakatsu fine wire jig hooks as well as the occasional 5/0 heavy flippin hook. Thanks...
