The paint scheme got me. The big plus for me is I could see that puppy a mile away. Would really stand out in the dark water we have in Fl. One suggestion...... Red hooks . Well done. -

Man, you have the peddle to the metal. Take about "no boundaries." Most go for traditional schemes. Which is fine, you on the other hand, are enjoying the ride. Creativity wise. Once again, the Red Eye is like the cherry on top. I love coloorrrrrrrrs! Hi-5 ! -

Looks like plenty of meat on the big one. Put a wide gap hook in that puppy and it`s a perfect flippin / pitchen bait. like the color as well -
I`d fish that puppy so you know it`s good..................... Nice wiggle. I`d say it doesn`t run deep. Maybe, a few feet or less. Saw some green hooks at Academy Sports ...... Talk about a perfect fit. Well done..................

You may want to look at YouTube for a tutorial on tear down of that reel. Audio/visual may be available. As you stated, "you`ve never taken one of these apart." Never hurts to have a little help.

If you haven`t already, Do a search for ......collapsible surf rods. They are available. Could be an alternative choice. Lots of different actions and lengths.

I think your on to something. What ever you did, the end result comes across as a very fishable lure. The red-eye certainly helps. Not all that excited about the bill. Just a comment. -

How to fix them when sprung ? Remove and replace. Those things are dirt cheap.

I believe if you do some leg work you`ll find a color match. It`s not a proprietary color.

Would like to give you props but have no idea what you did as you didn`t say. As far as the "look" goes......... it`s spot on. -
Can`t tell what`s on the end of your lure but the main body is extremely well done. Very natural looking.
