  1. Yes, If you want brighter colors always use a white basecoat, even when you use chartruse the white helps make it brighter.
  2. The main reason I use scent is to cover up the human smell from handling the bait. I only put scent in the bags after I pour the bait. Adding scent tp the hot plastic before you pour couldn't hurt, but I feel it is overkill. Try it both ways and see if there is a different amount of hits on the bait.
  3. I just got the slip jig mold, but haven't tried it yet. I do have a small ladle and you can bet I'll try your methods! Probably try it on several of my molds. Thanks Cadman, MuskyGary
  4. HA, I bet that's my problem! I was using a mix of 60% wheel weights and 40% soft. Funny how you guys always know what a guy was doing! Thanks for the info, and Im back to the drawing board.
  5. The hardest lead do-it mold for me to pour so far is the ZV Vibrating Lure mold. I heat the mold, even heat the lure inserts ( you have to be careful not to get them to hot or they will expand and not fit in the mold cavity right) Next I started using "Drop Out" mold release. This helps a lot but still only about half of the lures will turn out right. Good thing I don't sell them, I would go broke with rejects!
  6. Could you give us a little mor info on the lure? Like how wide is it? Looks like half inch. Is the weights solid in the body or are they in a chamber. Thanks for any info and I will watch their site.
  7. Because the bill is colored it looks like a knock off of a big O
  8. Anyone see the article in Bassmaster (May issue) on the new Smack-n-Shad plug ? Looks like it would be easy to copy. Its a 3 1/2 inch 3/8 ounce surface lure. It has through wire construction and sells for $17.95!!! Would like to see a video of one to see how it works. Got to try and make some of these; because I'll never pay $17.95 for one.
  9. go to Predator Bass Baits, look uder "Shad Baits" This is a knock off of a shad rap, most popular walleye lure.
  10. I don't know if it would work. Most of the sealers I have used suck the air out of the package, I think it would also suck the liquid up and make a mess. I wish (DN) would come in a container with a screw on lid or a side pour out spout that you could seal.
  11. Im with Kelly, depends on the size of fish your lake has. Also realize those croppie molds will work for bass baits with a larger hook. (If you want a small weight) The thing about pouring your own is that you can make exactly what you want! Little weights, small hooh or large hook. Any color you want, any type of body and tail you want.
  12. I ordered a gallon to try. Got to see for myself. I believe all of Bear's stuff is top notch!
  13. After you dip the wire twice, it goes in the worm mold and then you inject the plastic worm to make a true core shot worm.
  14. Well, once again this is for the guys who are mass producing baits to sell. The question is will they be as good as hand poured? We talk about our hand pours being superior to the big guys mass production and I think this would also not end up being a quality bait.
  15. Thanks guys, I don't sell anything but was just looking for a way to make core shots quickly. I don't think the hollow belly would take on much water as the tail hole is very small. If it did take on water then it would have to leave a trail of air bubbles! Shooting a core this way opens up a lot of possibilites. First the core doesn't have to be one color. Dip the first four inches of the rod in chartruse; then on a second dip only put the first inch in red to look like blood! How about a craw mode where the rods ran through the claws and arms to the body? How about sweet beavers, brush hogs, and other jig trailers? Lots of new molds to be made, plus all the color combos that we can come up with. I don't know if it will catch any more fish, but it should catch a lot of fishermen! Hope all you bait makers can find something usefull out of this.

I would try making some jigs without using anything. I very seldom have any trouble getting the jig out of the mold. Using soft lead helps.
  17. Anyone tried it yet? Sounds great, no shaking, just pour and use. Good price on it also.
  18. Looks good! Did you make the slot at the bottom of the worm for the wire to fit? That's the way I was thinking. Very nice work.
  19. It's just a wire, find a wire that fits the mold slot and it should work.
  20. Why not hollow worms? The idea is to make core shots easy and simple without having to pour that small tiny stream.
  21. After seeing the new swim bait molds and how the core is put into them, wouldn't it be possible to do the same thing with a worm mold? Put the metal rod in plastic, put it in the worm mold and inject with plastic? I realize this would have to be another special made mode. The same thing could be done with craw molds, brush hog molds etc. For a crawfish mold the insert could be coated in color plastic, put in the mold, maybe give the claws a shot of clor , close the mold and inject! Could open up a whole bunch of molds, but remeber he who dies with the most toys wins!
  22. Just in time for easter! A glitter bunny!
  23. What happened to their website? Saya account suspended.
  24. Are you covering the eyes with anything to help hold them on? Maybe dipping the head in clear plastic? Those are beautiful baits!
  25. Thanks for the info. Sounds like Im doing it like everyone else.
