Thanks guys for the information. I'm going to try it! To many nice nail polish colors out there. I've used some on jig heads but never over anything else. This looks like a good way of getting an even distribution of glitter on a plug!
I see a couple of you guys paint hardbaits with nail polish and I have a couple of questions. 1. Can you paint over createx? 2. What do you use for a top coat, hard as nails, or your regular exposy? I see a lot of nail polish with glitter in it and think it would come in handy for stripes, body lines or painting backs (clear nail polish with glitter). Any information?
Anyone shoot the 660 swimbait with a twin injector? Wonder how this mold shoots and if the bait has a lot of tail action? Bass Tackle has came out with so many swimbait molds and it's hard to decide which one's to buy when your money is limited!
I just saw a video on u-tube on making flutter jigs using tin. Looks about like using lead, but having never tried to melt it; I was wondering if anyone has?
Dick Nite was orginally intended for coating spinnerblades; so it is good on edges. The problem with Dick Nite is the storage issue; as has been stated many times on here. The problem with exposy is it has to be put on a lure turner to keep it from sagging. Just got some Solerize and am going to try that.
Looking for magnum chatterblades. Only place I found them was "Lure Parts Online" and they only had one package left, which I purchased. Barlows used to have them in several sizes, but only one size now. Im using then in front of a fluke type bait ( seven inches) mfor musky and northern.
If you see a del's mold you want, contact lurecraft. If they got it; they'll send it right out; otherwise forget it. All the other mold makers Caneycreekmolds.com, Basstackle.com, Jacobsbaits.com, and Bearsbaits are top notch!
Check out Tackle Warehouse, they have video on the new scatter shad by rapala. It's a different lip that makes the lure run waqy to the right , then return to center and next run way to the left then return to center. The faster the speed the more it hunts.Wonder how they make the lip, something for us to work at!
After looking at Northwoods Tackle and the lifelike plastic minnows they make (with the jig completly inside the plastic), I can see how this merjer could work to provide molds that either one by theirself could not produce!
Oner thing I have learned in "tapping" is that less paint on the brush is better. You can always go back for more powder to get what you want, but to much powder on the brush can ruin a paint job quick!
I see on Barlow's Tackle they have the new Trokar molds for sale. I noticed at the bottom of the page they have a number of different hooks, different brands, that will work in the mold. Im wondering if you have to buy these new molds or if Trokar hooks will fit in the weedless football, weedless round molds we already have? Anyone know? Before I buy a new mold Im going to buy a small pack of Trokar hooks and see how they fit in the molds I already have.
When powder painting RAW blades; after baking mthem; should you top coat them if the back of the raw blade is not painted? (I have been told the back will rust without a coating)
I just purchased 1000 RAW spinner blades. Im going to powder paint them. Since the back side will not be painted; after baking the blades; should I still dip the blades into something like Dick Nite to prevent rust? What do you recomend for a final coat?
What about speciality molds, such as Cabelas wobble head jig-- Cabelas is the only one who can sell it. Any chance someone might come out with a mold this way?
Does anyone know when do-it comes out with their new molds for the year? Or how do you contact them about a idea you have? I am altering Ultra Minnow Molds to take a crane sweivel on the bottom of the head; like a roadrunner. If they came out with a mold like this it would be a top seller!
