  1. The caneycreek mold has been a hot worm this year particulary for smallmouth.
  2. Once again thanks for the info. I think Im going to play around with the Folk Art and see how it does. Hard to find a dark green metallic.
  3. Thanks for the info, I'll look into them. After looking them up, the ones I found were acrylic. Wonder how those would work on lures and if they're compatable with Dick Nite topcoat?
  4. Looking for a metalic waterpaint that I can spray with my createx paint. Want to match Rapala's Mardi Gras color. Any ideas?
  5. Woods & Water paint is sold by WASCO taxidermy. Any of you guys use it? Is it as easy to use as Createx? Same amount of drying time? Thinking of buying some iridescents!
  6. Thanks dlaery, That looks good! Ill be buying some and try them on some scrap metal to see if I can handle it.
  7. Yes, I know what the slot looks like, but what tools would you use to cut one in a mold that doesn't have it.
  8. I was looking at a swarming hornet jig. (fishhead with a roadrunner type spinner) Price was $4.49 EACH!!! Anyway I think I could use a Ultra minnow mold and cut a slot for a crane swevil to make my own. Ive never altered a mold and would like some ideas. A dremel with a metal cutting disk would make the valley going into the mold head and Im thinking a drillbit would make the cavity for the crane swevil body to set in outside of the jig head? Any other ideas?
  9. Try www.basstackle.com. Look under molds for ringworms. He has several sizes, some with tails others blunt.
  10. Sorry for the lost of your mother.. I got a order from you a while back and all the stencils were first class. I will be ordering from you again. Rembering your family in my prayers.
  11. Also, as alumnite hardens it expands, better to use hand made molds.
  12. Another top color is orange blades with a black body. Off colored water try copper blades with a purple skirt.
  13. No body can get it right now.
  14. Moreland wins FLW Kentucky Lake. Thats two tournments in a row won on this bait. The thing that most people are missing is this bait catches supended bass! Elias was running down the lake and spotted bass twenty feet deep in thirty feet of water. Stopped his boat, threw out the alabama rig, let it sink about ten to fifteen feet and started to retrieve it. The bass came up from twenty feet and smashed it. Limit in no time. Now how many guys can catch suspended bass on any rig? Not many, if this works it will change tournment fishing. Just run around the lake looking for suspended schools of bass and bait and throw the alabama rig!
  15. Just sent a order to play around with. Im sure Ill be ordering more! Perfect cut stencils solve one more problem for the lure painter. Thanks.
  16. As far as a patent on the rod, forget it. The musky guys already have one that they use for the big plastic lures! If you read the results of the guntersville tournment the top ten finishers were all fishing the alabama rig by sunday. Paul Elias, who won the tournment with over a five pound average fished the rig all four days. One day he had his limit after making TWO casts! (Three bass on first cast, two on the second cast) One of the other top finishers stated he caught two bass on one cast, both bass were over four pounds and he couldn't use either one (to Small) Elias totals were 4 days fishing, 20 bass (five bass total per day) 102 pounds of weight! You want a chance to win a bass tournment this year? Better have a couple of these lures. Smoke J This rig is legal in Indiana as the body on the front makes this one lure. Im sure more will come on this bait in the future.
  17. Reading on the FLW Bass site. for the coming kentucky lake tournment in Paris Tenn. all hooks have to be smaller than size 6 IF YOU FISH FIVE SWIMBAITS. If you fish bigger hooks you can only use three swimbaits. So they are checking the game laws. I hate to buy one (24.99) just to tare it apart to see how they are putting it together!
  18. The reason for using the minnow body is to make the "one lure" concep so it conforms to the law. Many states have laws allowing multiple hooks on one lure. Take the body off and you have five lures on a combo rig! The next question I have is why use swimbaits? Why not put a willow spinner on each leg with a spinnerbait hook behind it? This lure is for lakes with shad schools in them. Fish hide out waiting for a school of shad to swim over, then they come up and blast them. Wait till this summer when the bass are schooling! I bet every state will have a new regulation on the books by next year.
  19. I would also like to know how you connected your secondary wires to the main wire? Going to have to talk to a game warden to see if this is legal in Indiana with two wires (since we are only alowed two baits per pole) or does this count as one lure per the main body? The next thing will be the crappie and white bass fishermen will down size it for their fishing. Maybe even work good for trolling livebait for walleye?
  20. I order raw blades from Hagens; then power paint them and dip in Dick Nites.
  21. Last year. I talked to them since I am only a hour's drive away. Told them about the trouble I had with timelyness, they said he promised to ship to them right away.If I want a Del's mold I will buy it from Lurecraft so I know I got it!
  22. Any idea onhow to make dots on plastic worms in the mold? Seeing a lot of this on crappie molds and thinking of trying it on worms like the old creme worms.
  23. I sort mine, small bass, crappie molds, swimbait molds etc. and put them in large plastic containers. This helps make them easier to find.
  24. Why won't a side to side fish mold work? Don't you just need to turn the injector sideways?
  25. How long is the bait and how much balist are you using? When it floats on its side is it the front half or the rear half or both?
