  1. Is there anyway to determine how much ballast you need in a plug; or do you have to just guess and experment? The ballast is to help the plug run true and not on it's side , right? Im just starting to make some crappie size plugs and never done anything under five inches.
  2. Yes, I like the idea of being able to pull the powder paint off the nylon and use them again. Going to buy a bag!
  3. Thanks, Figure I'll have to watch the temperature real close. If I like the eyes; I'll probably break down and buy a griddle. Im working on crappie baits, so got to be careful not to get my hands to close to the hot plastic.
  4. I have about 40 plastic lures I want to try and put eyes on. Never done it before. I have a hot plate that I want to lay a alumiun sheet on to put my pyrex cup on to keep the plastic warm while I dip the eyes with a clear coat. Will this work or will the hot plate cause me trouble? Thanks, Gary

    Dick Nite

I thought Dick Nite had a couple of new lure coats? The web site only list the "old Dick Nite" . Or was the new products just samples that never went public?
  6. Thanks for the info. Looks like Im headed in the right direction. Im going to make my own hitchiker with a U bend in the wire which goes into the wooden body. Im not sure if glue will hold it in, but it's a start. No hooks in the plastic so the water pull should be miminum. Im making bassbaits.
  7. What's the best way of attching a plastic twister tail on the back end of a wood bait?
  8. With most plastic coming in soft, medium, and hard; I am thinking of injecting my swimbaits with soft plastic (lots of tail wiggle) opening the mold and cutting the front half of bait off(Like we do for two colors). Shuting the mold up and injecting the front half with hard plastic (so the hook part won't get torre up so easy. Anyone tried this? And is it worth the effort?
  9. If you stop injecting for a couple of seconds, it will clog up. Now this was with a jacob injector which has a small opening to start with. Haven't tried the dual injector so maybe its something that won't come into play.
  10. What's the Tackleunderground special e-mail for Dick Nite? I can't find any advertisment and when I go to his site, I only get the old site without the new products.
  11. How long (time) do you have to do this (pulsing)? Looks like the plastic would cool off and plug the nozzle. At lease that's the problem I have.
  12. Looking for a basic formula for citrus. Im having trouble getting the blue light enough. I've been playing with blue, chartruse, and white, but I can't get it right.
  13. Question on the EZ Flow. If this stuff is thinner and more like water at less heat; might this be the best stuff for attching eyes? Thinner cover and should run off instead of a big drip?
  14. OK, You guys just convinced me. I just sent a order for poursol. EZ Flow, and Ultrasol. Will keep a lookout on this post as you guys get more experience with this stuff.
  15. Try www.Basstackle.com He has several sizes of inserts
  16. Just looked at your baits. Super job!! I have looked at the Azek boards at Lowe's, but never tried it. Im going to have to now! Ive also thought about using Aztek to rebuild my boat floor. I could use the scraps to make baits out of. Ive been afraid of melting the Aztek from cutting to fast. How is the Azek for sanding ? Can you use a router on Aztek?
  17. Frank, Is that the worm and chunk it paint?
  18. I am looking for a mold much like Larew Salt Flick'r. Article on it (page 40)in Bassmaster February issue. It is basicly a sinko with two paddletail arms at the head. Used in the shaky rigs. Havn't been able to find anything close; might have to get out the POP and make me a mold.
  19. Thanks guys, That's just what I was looking for; hate to miss a sale! Just placed my order.
  20. Anyone out there know of any special sales on molds or supplies for Thanksgiving or Christmas?
  21. Jacobs paddletail grub and del's slider worm
  22. I don't think it matters to the fish (which way the color is) fishermen are always looking for something different. Look at surface hard baits. The fish only see the bottom but we color the top to sell the lure. Ive been wondering about doing one side clear with glitter in it and the other side with a regular color, sort of making a bait that would work when its sunny or overcast.
  23. I wonder about the "green" plastic that LC sells. It has no phthalate chemicals. Supose to be more environmentally friendly? I have a face mask that I wear for lead pouring, but I usually don't wear it for plastic pouring. I usually don't pour more than six or seven molds at a time and I keep the doors to my shop wide open. It would not hurt me to wear the mask, but its so hot with it on.
  24. Wow!! That opens up a whole new type of painting plugs that I had never thought about. Just have to be careful not to move the plug until it is dry.
  25. I sure wish someone would come up with something simple. I save my new painted baits until I have about forty, I buy my DN in the two ounce cans so I don't lose much and throw away the remainder when i am done for the day. I only paint in the summer ; usually about eighty baits so its not to expensive to only use two small cans.
