  1. Thanks for all the kind words... I actually didnt use any photoshop. I found a pic online with goolge images then just shrunk it to size using just good ol paint. I am making a new bait that is smaller that should have a lot more detail in the fins and will be using a similar method to what you suggest mark, any other ideas suggestions? The best part of the bait is how well it swims!!! I will see if I can get a video up soon. Thanks to all the inspiration out there in TU land
  2. Let me know what you think. Still working on a glass like finish.....I think I need to slow down and not rush it

    Chartreuse Shad Wakebait

Wow looks great! How does she swim?
  5. Liquid plastics is my next step...I was playing around with pop molds and remelts to make sure it was something I really enjoyed. Funny but everything I try when it comes to lure building because an addiction.....You would think that I would eventually just realize I have a problem
  6. Ive used it plenty and have found it heal much quicker and allow me to get back to what I was doing much faster (no worries of it opening back up again if you do it right)
  7. Wow longhorn thats a long time and quite hot....I have only been doing it at 200 for 30 - 40 mins (not as happy with my results) I think I will give that a try. Thanks
  8. Try a search I personally use epoxy, devcon 2ton or glaze coat. Other folks out there use elmers glue. The important thing is to really thin your coats with epoxy I thin mine with Denatured alcohol. This allows the pop mold to really soak up the epoxy. Remember that multiple thin coats is almost always better than 1 thick coat. Take your time at this stage because if you rush through it and dont let your epoxy properly dry or you put too much epoxy on it will really screw up your mold. hope that helps
  9. Great pointers! No the mold is actually just a copy of a 4" buzz frog for top water. I am also using remelts will this be part of my issue?
  10. Looking good! I really like the frog....is that one of crawchucks old molds? Also do the frogs float? Keep up the great work
  11. I do top off the mold however I may have to do it more often or faster? Any other suggestions out there? I thought this pouring plastics was going to be sooo easy.. lol I have a new respect for the many talented folks on this site.
  12. Hey I am just getting started with soft plastics and tried my hand a frog mold. My issue is when pouring this bait I always had a hollow frog with a head that would never hold a hook... Is my issue that I am not getting the plastic hot enough? Maybe the mold should be heated (using a 2 part pop mold)? Any suggestions would be great
  13. I use a top feed and only mix enough paint for use of that area...from there they take 5 seconds to shoot some windex through them and wipe them with a paper towel and on to the next color.
  14. hrmmm I dont really like the sounds of that.
  15. If thats the case do it when Michaels has their 40% savings and go in to hobby lobby and price match the coupon. (Michaels doesnt carry Iwata)
  16. Hey I just picked up some "glaze coat" 2 part epoxy (they sell it mainly for bar table tops etc) and was curious if anyone has used it before. It seems way easier to work with than devcon 2ton, its cheaper and seems to give a better finish. I will post some pictures when I get a few baits done. So far I have just tested it on some scrap just curious
  17. Thanks for the reminder...I need some more rtv silicone. BTW thats how I picked up my Iwata eclipse hp-cs and love it!

    screw eyes

Hey I have a pretty dumb question....but I dont really have any concept of diameter. I make bass swim baits roughly 4 - 5 inches in length and would like a screw eye that can be used as a hinge, line tie and hook hanger....What would be a good diameter? Does it matter what material I would use? (SS, brass etc. for bass) Thanks
