i need to make some baits in motor oil for someone. i searched and found 3 or for recipes for it. anyone have one close to the zoom motoroil color. thanks.

A Little Fishing History

i just read on a fishing fourm guys useing cod liver oil and mixing in garlic powder and salt to make fish scent. anyone use it. i think i will get some and add del`s garlic scent to it.

i read that also about olive oil. i was going to put some garlic concentrate in some and make my own scent spray. i was just thinking may try it with worm oil and add the scent.

i use the left over plastic. i use a lot of black baits so i just add black and make baits for myself. i made 30 10ln black trick worms out of a bunch of left over plastic yesterday.

right now its been the 10 1/2 in trick worm. but depending what lake i`m at the 6in trick, curl tail and pig and jig.

glad you got it worked out. i made that on dialup and it took awhile. i could not post it on you tube anyway with dialup. will be getting highspeed soon.

i use the pink flouresent coloring and a drop off white. its suppose to be bubblegum put looks like hot pink to me. a friend of mine uses this color in deep clear water dropshoting for smallmouth.

davidh has been busy again mixing up and pouring some stixs for a buddy of his and was kind enough to video the process so could what is required. This builds on the Introduction to Pouring Plastics.

what colors are your store bought baits you fish with. you can match them up with the recipes on this site and dels. i make hot pink baits for a guy that fishes clear water.

i use dels salt

needed to make some stickbaits for a friend so i taped it. its a little shaky but i made them around 5 in the morning because he was leaving to fish that evening. this may help some new pourers. think i covered most of the process. used dels recipe from his site.

great catch and nice lures. i have yet to use a store bought bait this season. great job

when i first started pouring i melted down a bunch of store bought stuff. some smelled more than others but it was a good learning experience. now i just use the good stuff.

they look good. on the scent i just pour some in, i use the concentrat and it don`t take to much.

if your just making worms i would leave out the softener. add just a little salt or no salt so it will still float off the bottom.

a while back someone posted about melting vasoline and adding scent. i did that and it works great. holds on the lures real long. i was wondering if anyone ever made it in spray form and what do you use. was thinking about putting some senct in vegtable oil but not sure what to use. thanks

thanks for the info, it was in versailes indiana a little bait shop. it was at least 25 years ago, i think they were purple worms with grape scent i think. what part of indiana were you from. i live in cheivot in ohio not far from larenceburg. dave

i come to TU everyday for support. i am mold poor right now. it is great catching fish on your own baits, i have not used a store bought plastic bait this year. last week i was on a 200 acre lake that gets pounded and there was a bass tourny on it. all the guys i was talking to were not having any luck. i was on a point and a tourney guy was in front of me and he did not catch any thing. i threw out mt 10 1/2 in hand pour trick and landed a 3lb 11oz bass. he asked me what i was using and told him a big trick worm. wanted to know where i bought them and i said poured them in my basement and can`t be bought in stores. got to love it.
