  1. Hey Guy's Thanks for the response! Like I said before you guy's are the best! Thanks again!
  2. Gonna build my first PVC crankbait. Was wondering what the advantages of this product is for crankbaits? Have built several balsa, red cedar, and foam baits. Gotta see what this PVC is all about. Thanks, You people are the best!! Some of the baits I see on this site I wouldn't even use they are so good looking!!
  3. Another little tip, is get a pair of aircraft wire twist pliers. They are used by aircraft mechanics. Is a plier, vise grip, and twists wire with one tool! Oh ya one hand operation while holding jig, no need for vise. Very quick operation! Good Luck. I also use the floral wire with these pliers. Thanks
  4. Mark, I use a flat file and open up the hook slot out the back of the head and place a wire (.031) in the head and have it stick out about half a inch. After building bend the end of the wire for a keeper. This way you can use on any spinnerbait mold. Use this on Jigs also! Note: I bend the end of the wire about 1/8th of an inch that lay's inside the head so it won't pull out. Hope this helps.
  5. I believe you could drill holes thru the mold at the angle you want and make pins to fit the holes. After pouring remove pins and remove jig. Would have to figure out sizes but this would work for powder coating head and gluing in gaurds. Thought's???
  6. Try this! A Elite series fisherman showed me this. Hold line between two fingers and pull your jig up to fingers and pull through. Your reg jig has trouble going through fingers because of lip on eye. Now try the flat eye jig!! The eye slips between fingers (lips) and starts to seperate and comes through easier. Sort of a wedge if you would. In my mind that makes sense to me!! As Cadman say's everyone has a opinion on this. Thanks
  7. I have found that taking a candle and "soot" the mold helps with smoothing out the lead and releases jig easy. But agree powder paint and vinyl paint will finish out smooth. Thanks
  8. I really use the wire keeper on alot of my baits. This deal works great on jig's and spinnerbaits as well. I use .027 stainless wire and bend about 1/8th inch on a 90 degree to hold into the head. after molding and painting then I round the wire with round nose pliers. To make the mold accept the wire I use a knife file and clear out small area where hook exits the ball collar. Just hit it a couple times on each side then try to fit wire into mold. Keep clearing till mold closes completely. Good luck
  9. Fella's I see that Eagle Claw also has a new spinnerbait hook to replace the needle point mustad. Has anyone tried it yet? EL253 is the number. Thanks
  10. I like a shallow bowl and i do not heat up the jighead to normal temperature. I heat it just enough so that the paint sticks to head. light covered spots I pinch some paint and smear it onto area. Take a finger and rub it onto head, then heat it up with gun. Makes good looking jigs. Even coated paint and flake.

  19. Hey folks, anyone know of a lead company making the spinnerbait mold with weight in body? Like 3/4 oz weight with a 1/4 oz head size. I saw it here once before and can't locate it. Thanks
  20. Thanks for the feedback. One more question, is the topcoat to protect the balsa wood? For I am building baits from foam. I know the topcoat also protects paint job but was wondering if protecting the wood is the issue. Minwax polycrylic puts nice finish on baits but not hard like your topcoats. Thanks again
