  1. Thanks on the info. How well does the pure bismuth pour.
  2. I am looking around for another lead free alternative for casting; I have been using a food grade pewter for quite some time now, but pewter has about half the specific gravity as lead. Because of pewter being less dense than lead, quite a bit of my bait designs tend to run sideways, because they do not have enough counter rotaing mass. I need a a castable allow that is about as dense as lead or at least denser than pewter. I have read about people using bismuth alloys and copper alloys, but I never got enough info on those alloys to switch from pewter. If you have any ideas on other alloys and maybee a supplies that would be great.
  3. I just bought some 3/64" stainless cable and some tin plated copper compression sleeves. McMaster specs out a specific crimper for the 3/64" sleeves, but it is $150; I only spent $18 on the cable and sleeves. I have looked at the tools ya'll have been talking about, but do not know if they would work. Is there any other cheaper tool I could buy to do the same thing? I guess I could mill out a a tool to use in a press or vice if I have to.
  4. Thanks for the hook info. He is fishing on the Collins River near McMinnville, TN; one of the few bodies of water that is still stocked in Tennessee for Musky. From what he tells me, 40+ inch fish commonly follow to the boat, and quite a few are landed about that size. Last trip he landed a 40.5 inch fish going about 20 lbs.
  5. I am making a few custom inline buzzbaits for my brother. The bait looks like it is going to be 9-10 inches long. What whould be a good treble size selection for a bait like this. I was thinking between 2/0 and 4/0, but I do not get alot of time for Musky fishing here in Tennessee; largemouth are just much easier to find.
  6. I have never scene it in a Bass Pro, but if you could check and let me know what issue that would be great.
  7. I use 7" starflash skirts for my buzzbaits, but as everyone knows they are around a dollar a peice. I have bulk round rubber material that I use as well, but all I can find is in dull colors. Does anyone know how to brighten this stuff up (maybe with a clear coat) and what kind of flake to use? Are there any bulk rolls of starflash material?
  8. I currently carve my baits out of mountian ash, and I am looking into using expanded PVC. I was wanting to know of a good source (all i can find is 3mm-25mm sheets that are 4' x 8') to purchase thicker sheets and/or smaller sheet sizes. I guess you could epoxy two sheets together in order to cut out a thicker bait blanks. Also, if anyone works with expanded PVC, how do you like it?
