  1. Just a question? why did you use the single hook in back? adding twister tails? By the way the baits look great!
  2. I did use one thinned coat under the paint so I believe I will go with 2 more thinned coats. Thanks for the input.
  3. Hey guys I am in the process of finishing a few Pike/Lake Trout baits. I am wondering what the optimal number of D2T coats would be? Should I use more than 3? Or is this just overkill?
  4. Great looking baits!! Great names also:lol:

    Wahoo!

Great Job!! Nice looking bait also!!!
  6. I will give this a try for sure.
  7. Thanks gentilman. I will go with epoxy from now on.
  8. I added some weight in the bottom of a few lures. I filled the top of the holes with wood filler. I am having a problem getting the filled holes to sand flat. They always seem to leave an indention in the bait. Any suggestions?
  9. Mark, About the wood filler. Fill your hole 3/4 full of news paper then use the filler to cover the top 1/4 of your hole. This way there is no need for the Zap glue.
  10. Use a spray adhesive. I like the krylon brand. Can be found at hobby Lobby for $4 a can.

Welcome to the site. The addiction is upon you.

I have found that mixing on a paper plate works really well. No creases or corners to deal with.
  15. I've been using finish nails.
  16. Thanks for the info Bob. Thanks to you also Mark you made some very good points that will go into my next construction.
  17. Hey Bob, Where do you get your malin Wire?
  18. Thanks Captn' what dia do you use? Is it just the inline spinner wire?
  19. I made a swim bait, and dont like the wire I used for the hinge. I used a stainless finish nail for the post, but need some ideas for the the wire. Also I have a few baits I made over the winter that I want to refinish. What is the easiest way to remove the D2t?

nice work!!! cant wait to see the next one. There is no known cure for this addiction.
  21. Well how did the weekend treat all of you? I did pretty well, all 4 of my final four teams made it through. 6 of 8 elite 8 teams made it through. My fianl four teams are N. Carolina, Stanford, Kansas, UCLA. I have Kansas and Stanford in the finals with Kansas taking the title. How about you guys?
  22. I use the tissue paper, so I get the foil affect. the flash of the foil under the tissue is priceless. I live in trout country, and if you have ever seen a rainbow roll on a lure the flash is amazing. The foil under the tissue gives this affect, and is very realistic
  23. the urethane is used in marine applications. So the water is not really a problem. It also says that it is uv protected. I guess only time will tell
  24. I agree on the fading ink. I use a spar urethane that had uv protectants in it. This should work Right?
