  5. CAO has very beautiful detailed cigar bands that I like to use for cigar baits. There cigars are excellent too if your into smoking cigars. I made this one for my great uncle from South Padre Island TX. It was to thank him for fun times fishing in the Gulf as he has a resort on the beach down there. Hope to go back soon as I haven't been ocean fishing in ten years and haven't caught any big ocean fish ever (anything 10 lb or bigger).
  6. This is the 2nd Peacock Bass cigar bait I've made. The details turned out better than the first one I made. Love painting these because they are truly one of the most beautiful fish God ever created. This was a special order for a fathers day gift. I used an "olde world reserve" cigar band and box and the eye worked great which was a green and yellow "Mahi Mahi" eye I had that I haven't been able to find any more.
  7. Thanks bud! I use plasitc molded fish fins for the top dorsal fina and tail. Somtimes I use would for the tail too. I cut them to smaller shapes witha dremel sanding tool. You can order them from taxidermy supply stores or to save money I got my own molding tool that I pour plastic in to make fin shapes.
  8. Great first lure. Don't loose it. It will always be one of your favorites even as your skill in making them gets better with each one.
  9. Painted the "Tiger Hawk," design around the eye like the Hawkeye logo for the Iowa bait. The Crappie I didn't get the colors quite right. Needs more black, silver and a more yellowish-green gold to be a black crappie. These are both display lures only.

  11. Like his eye! Reminds me of a Disney villan character
  12. Not sure how it will swim yet but I'm guessing it will float/suspend and some drag will be created by the open mouth on it. I'll try to post a new picture of it all tooth marked up after my trip to Canada in a month. Used Gator eyes on it that turned out cool.
  13. All special orders I made this past month. Got the walleye on a noon TV news spot last week because it was a donation to a charity auction. Now I just need to get it from my DVR to a youtube vid so I can post it on my web page. Hopefully that will be easier than it sounds. I'm going Walleye fishing in a week! Thank God spring is here!

  16. Thanks for comments, "walleye on steroids," that's a good description! He does look mean and tough! Have more pics coming soon. Been very busy making lures.
  17. Both are made with bass wood, air brushed and hand painted detailing. Fins are from fish mounts I cut down to shapes I want. Scaling details I add with a roller tool that imprints the wood if I press hard while rolling. Hope you all like. Thanks, J

  19. Ha! Thats funny. I just saw all the replies to this almost a year later. I did get all the lures coated and dryed since i used a paint on epoxy jig finish that dries fast and I had to stay up all night to finish. Learned my lesson though. I gave my step brother one of my lures as a gift and when we were out fishing he had cast it out and when he reeled it in the paint was gone LOL! Must have forgot to clear coat that one. It was hilarious, I told him white was a great color anyway!
  20. Thanks for comment, nice peacock in your pic. They are such beautifull fish. I've never seen one in person before, but plan to catch them someday.
  21. I made these "Cigar Baits" with Rocky Patel Cigar bands wrapped around one side. These are my first attempts at a Walleye style and Peacock Bass. Also first time trying a scale effect and detail around the walleyes mouths. Hope you like them. Thanks for any feedback! -Jeremy DesMoines, IA.
