  1. Very nice. Like the use of leather fins; that should be nice and durable against teeth.

Wow, that pumpkin ear orange detail is incredibly life like. I'm guessing that is done with the "foil design" technique? I'm new to making and painting lures. With out knowing anything about "foiling" it looks like you glue down foil to the lure- use a tool to texture the foil, paint, and apply finish over the foil. I could be way off, but how ever you do it ; i cant wait to try my hand at it. I did buy a sculpting epoxy and a scale rolling tool to try a textured look but have not tried it yet. Any way how can I find your lure on Ebay?
  3. Wow, thats sweet, luv the mineral rock-like looking finish. Is there texture around the eye? how did you do that if it's not a secret? Sweet lure; I'm into the odd and strange stuff. Working on a zebra and African Lion lure right now that will be a bit "out there." Those are the most fun to create to me.
  4. These ones are more for display although they are fully working lures made from balsa and cedar. The fins may break from a fish strike or fight. I am making some more durable ones to try for pike/musky and bass with. Thanks for the comment!
  5. These are the first lures I've ever made. Gave them as gifts to some executives at the seafood restaurant I bartend at.

  8. I had same problem last week. After speaking to an airbrush shop owner about it he said that i need to get "airbrush thiner to mix with the paint 50/50 so it is consistency of whole milk so it draws though the nozzle without clumping cause the paint is too thick with out the thinner. It worked for me.
  9. Sweet, thanks for the advise JF, should I spray it over the eyes too or glue eyes after i've sprayed on mult. coats.? i'm using some prety detailed taxidermy eyes on some lures so want to make sure it will be nice and clear to show the details in the eye.
  10. Hi everyone, I'm a new member and also new to making lures. I have painted 100 lures for a trade show i'm doing this weekend and had a couple questions. When using devcon to you brush it on or submerce the whole lure in the devcon. Also do you put it over the tops of the eyes too. Some hand made lures i've bought look like the clear coat goes over the eyes too which looks like it would help keep the eyes in place as well as teh TECH BOND glue already holding on eye. I don't have any kindof lure tuner yet but was just going to hang them and switch ends every 5 min for first 30 min of drying as i had read in thread. THANKS everyone for all the helpfull info on here.!---Jeremy in IOWA. Also if I just painted on jig head epoxy would that dry the fastest and work too.
