  1. First check for some stable weather prior to the tourney. If it stays the same for a few days prior to the event, you can start out looking for active fish with a colorado bladed spinner bait or a lipless crank fished off the first breakline up from where they winter toward where you think they'll be spawning. If the water temp. is higher that what you anticipate, move up in the water column above the break. A jerk- bait is hard to beat in this situation as is either of the above mentioned. If the weather is unstable, you have your work cut out for you. I'd start with a jigging spoon fished at the bottom of the same break mentioned. A jig w/pork in the same area is another alternative. If you've ever c-rigged a floating minnow bait, now would be a great time to try it as you can cover that deep water quickly and find concentrations of fish with it. Hope that helps.
  2. New here, but a little on the old side age wise. I've been fishing for around 50yrs. and learn or try something new every time out. I love to read about anything fishing or shooting related and figured this would be a great place to read and share.
