  1. Thanks again guys. Bear that printer ranks up there for low cost. Lots of good reviews. So I dug a little deeper. Here’s a cost on the Samsung CPL 315 Laser printer. Refurbished printer by Samsung with 90 day warrantee runs 90 something delivered. Here and Ebay it can be found. http://www.electrawarehouse.com/productDetailsByName.php?name=Samsung+CLP-315 Inks come with printer. Takes 4 cartridges that sell for 40 a piece. Found that price here http://www.electrawarehouse.com/productDetailsByName.php?name=Samsung+CLP-315 Avery 3.5x5” labels are 4 per sheet. 100 sheets 400 labels for 45 bucks. Printer stats state for full color pages the cost is 15 cent per page. Figure you’re not using entire page. Just where labels are so this is worst case cost. Ink 15 cent per page divided by 4 labels per page Labels are 4 cents each. Total cost if labels is 15 cent each not including cost of printer. Figure if you get ten thousand labels before printer dies you added 1 cent per label to cost. This is worst case highest cost: 16 cent per label per first ten thousand then 15 cent per label after that. From what Bear states he gets I'm guess he's really paying about 9 cents per full color label. Then add 200 for new inks that Bear gets 1700 sheets from and you up the cost 2 cent per label. Worst case comes up to 11 cents per label for Bear. In either case it looks to be well under 20 cent per label. Anyone have anything to compare this to using other printers or buying completed labels from a print shop? Also had a small brand new B/W thermal label printer given to me. Thinking of using that for maybe color and size label on backs so I can use a standard label in the front on many diff lures. Well see when I start playing.
  2. It only took me one time with the fumes, hot dripping plastics, color staining counters and glitter that seems to jump around on everything to figure out I
  3. Thought this might cost to much. Like I said, this is my first look at this area. Never sold a single plastic. Gave away about 20 gals worth so far with all my testing. Need to at least sell some to buy more plastic and molds. LOL Whats a 1000 labels go for? I am planning on having like 3 colors over a white label. Graphics and text. Don't know if that matters or not.
  4. Thanks guys. Going to look for some printer deals to see what I can come up with. It will be a few weeks before I'm done with some home projects and have electric in my out building where I pour. boosted it to a 200 amp service so now I can fire up all kinds of hot pots. Should have seen my electricians face when I said I wanted to run several crock pots, 2 micro waves, and a sauna.
  5. Thanks guys. So you all use ink printers not laser. No Samsungs? I
  6. I found some good info searching this issue up here but with printer technology moving forward so fast I was wondering what the latest and greatest is. This is my first look at bagging and labeling some products to sell. So I
  7. 9" sluggo is my go to. Be tossing it to bass in 2 more hrs after I skip out of here. Buddy just called and said Bass and Blues are busting up some bunker where I sent him this morn. DAM I should have not given that spot up until I was on those fish. LOL Plan on putting Husky's lures to the test as well. Tight lines. Jay
  8. Day went great. WAYYYY too much fog but GPS gets me there. 50yds visibility meant very slow going and it never burned off like the smuck weatherman said. Anyways started off finding schools of busting bass at first light. Nothing big but as many 30
  9. Thanks guys. I'll try those both tonight. Taking off tomorrow for fluke and Bass fest. I'm a little shot since I went out at 4am this morn before work. No bass bigger than 34
  10. Thanks Husky. thats the link I posted. I can't tell the colors from that pic. Is it pink core shot or red high light? Is that picture true colors? My buddy is telling me the one he uses looks orange.
  11. http://www.lunkercity.com/index.html Can anyone tell me what color this is? I can
  12. I was playing with making smokes and made one that looks just like that. 8 oz plastic 6 drops of LC black, purple and black flake. I like it better with a little red high lite mixed in.
  13. Ran home to make several quick half cups of diff hardness using LC 500 plus diff amounts of LC hardener. Man I'm glad vinyl wasn't an option. The 500 with hardner is better than the vinyl ones IMO. Waaaayyy more action for sure even with the hardened plastic. I started with 1 tsp to a half cup of 500 and up from there to 50 50 in seven diff half cup batches. I made 2 6" Squid teaser lures from each of the 7 batches. I start in my pool first but in the water and with fish is where all my lures go to test. If they don't cut it on the proving grounds I don't need them in my boxes. So me and one of my sons jumped in the boat and tried to get on some Fluke before dark. We caught several small fluke (13-18") and a crap load of Sea Robbins up to 5lbs. Big suckers. The lures made from the 2 table spoons to half cup are what I will tweak a little more. But for now it looks and feels great. Nice and strong and still has great action. The teaser were on 3 ways in 22' of water with only a 2oz weight and not tipped with anything at all. Normally I would tip them with large blue fish strips to get big fluke. But since I was testing the lures and not the fishing grounds. The lure was used naked no oils or anything else just jigging and they still caught fish. To me this means they work. Now to play with size, shapes, and colors to see what produces most and largest fish. Thanks for all the help guys.
  14. Thanks JSC. Looks like I am going to keep playing with hardeners. Not a material I can easily work with. Thanks Husky. I have tested using silicones. Not the texture I want and much harder to work with than soft plastics. I need to dip rods in the material to make these tubes. Not a mold. There is tube molds out there but I
  15. Thanks Husky. Just pulled that mold out last night when I was testing new colors. I poured a few from it and will send them to. Waiting on a couple orders of new colors before I bom you. That is a very light but very strong material. How soft is it when you mix it? Like resin or bondo?
  16. I run a line through the teaser and add a hook. Then tip the hook with fish strips. Fluke suck the entire thing down. I use this on a 3 way with a 2-11 oz jig tipped with more strips. The teaser can slide freely on the line. Caught 22 Fluke as the sun set last night using my first squid tubes Thanks to you Ron. Now if our dam limit size was under 19.5
  17. Thanks. Found some post but didn't find an answer. What is the most hardener anyone has added to 500? Can you max out or the more you add the harder it gets? How about staright hardener. Anyone try just heating it up solo?
  18. Just did a quick search and heres a link to some. Many places sell them. They are injected . Same as soft plastic but harder. Some have a bead in the head for the line to slide on and give color glow. Squid Skirts States "Sea Striker squid skirts are made of soft vinyl". Can you melt and use vinyl as we do soft platics?
  19. Thanks Paul. I am no where near many of the pros on here when it comes to plastics knowledge. Just warming up. I am a very fast learner and can
  20. I'm looking at everything diff since I saw Bojon DVD. Keep looking at things and wondering what they would be like if I dipped them. Don't tell the wife her long lipstick thing she left in the bathroom makes a nice fat squid.
  21. How much hardener can you add? I am using LC 500 and would like to get as stiff a plastic as I can. What's the max amount you can add? Thanks Jay
  22. Added some hardener and it came out better. Still would like to know what the material is. Anyone?
  23. Thanks. Just got some hardner and will give it a shot. I think it is something diff. Wondering what that is and if I can get it and use it.
  24. I am looking to make some Squid skirts to use as teasers while Fluke fishing. The material of the ones I buy is very stiff and kind of hard. Nothing like the soft plastics I pour with. I use 500 for all my big saltwater baits and it is no where near the hardness of the squid skirts. Anyone know what this material is? Thanks Jay
