  2. Im guilty of stealing my kids legos to make boxes to pour mold material in
  3. when your idea of internet porn is the photo gallery here at TU
  4. When you blame the dog for the missing lace plate mat because you thought it would make a good stencile. Im also guilty and blamed my best buddy, Im sorry No im not and i will do it again if the patterns right.
  5. when your up at 2am sanding baits because you cant sleep till its done. im also guilty of running power tools this late and waking the whole neighborhood up.
  6. When your on a date and walk by a dumpster while walking in to the steak house and you see something that you can use for a scale stencil and then you go after it. Dont laugh this happenned to me years ago. There is nothing like dumpster diving on your first date.
  7. you see this kind of molded stencils in the fishcarver sites. I will have to try this for myself ,thanks guys
  8. Time of year water clarity all play factors in color choice . Ive never fished there but I like to go a natural color scheme in clear water.
  9. Man if Larry must have the best job ever. Get paid to fish for all those monsters and make lures with sponsors. I just seen all the sponsors logos in the back drop. I wonder if I could get beer sponsor lord knows ive got enough invested in them:tipsy: Oh know im out beer
  10. I seen the same thing awhile back. Looks pretty good, but if I was going to try those I believe I would have to try and trim the back tail off and fabricate my own. I would try and make a jointed section for the tail, I think it would swim a little better
  11. Stay away from the 5 minute epoxy. There is not enough work time and it will turn yellow on you over time
  12. If you still find yourself pinching the blade or if you have a hard time making turns make a relief cut.
  13. Sounds to me you have the wrong blade for the job you are doing. Go to the hardware storelowes whatever and ask the salesman to help you with the blade selection. take your piece of wood with the lure drawn on and show him what you need done, he or she will select the proper blade for you. Having the wrong blade is like digging a ditch with a spoon you can do it but its a lot easier with a shovel.

    test tanks

Just tell your wife your going to put a goldfish pond in the backyard. She will think your the best ,but secretly your building a test tank, what she dont know wont hurt.Getting her to believe that a 3' wide by 30' long is the in style pond is going to be tricky.
  15. It was micro bulb filler or some call it micro spheres. Its tiny glass spheres added to the mix A and B to add bouancy.
  16. That was a great show today and today was a real treat.I also liked the test tank that he used to test the bait when he was finished , another build for myself. He made a through wire top water bait with a type of slip mold. Once again great show.
  17. I did a thread a long time ago under homemade tools and here I have a pic of a u shaped rack my bait suspends in. I paint with the bait in this rack then add clear and clamp to the dryer. I never have to touch the bait through out the whole process. I dont know how to link you to this but if someone could Thank you. The yellow flex pipe under the rack is if I need a third hand and it holds the rack and the pipe clamps to the table. You can bend the pipe any way you need to.
  18. Keep your ballast weights low in the bait. Drilling too deep then weighting will change your baits action.

    Lure stamp

Pete, you da man. I wouldnt have thought of that. I would have made a complicated solution for this problem.
  20. yes the etex when brushed on will soak into the wood. It will level out nice and gives a good flat surface. Sometimes it takes several coats to get a smooth surface to work with because the etex soak in the grain. The down side is having to rotate your bait, the dry time, it can add a little more weight to your bait, and humidity and temp plays in to the dry time. I do this with muskie baits before foiling with foil tape, it give a nice clean surface that you can wipe down for a contaminent free surface for good bond.I have been fooling around with the idea Pete had brought up a while back with vacuum sealing baits. You can see the air being sucked out of the wood and bubbles form., then the sealer gets sucked in when you release the pressure.
  21. Diemai I had the same theory with the short lip at that angle to me this would be a plus to the desired effect. When adding weight to the back you know there is a fine line between too much weight and not enough. In my mind you would have to have stationary or fixed weight in the back and the weight that shifts would be the weight that would be enough to cause it to tip. You know when you add one drop of lead too much to the ballest weight you go from having a neutral bouyant bait then becomes a sinking bait. same theory one rolling weight of of lead, making it the one drop of lead that I talked about, would be enough to cause it to tip. There would be alot of trial and error to figure this out.
  22. Deimai I like your theroy of the v shaped and I think I will add this to different styles of bodies that I will try in this project.
  23. Deimai the placement of such weight would be high in the spine of the bait causeing it to be top heavy and tip, The weight shifting in the cylinder would move the weight to one side of the bait and cause it to lean a little more to one side, center of gravity has shifted, and track that direction not enough to make it lay flat on its side. You would have to play where along the back of the bait the high weight placement would be, torwards the head or the tail i dont know you would have to play with it. A short lip on the bait would probably help this out a litte bit more, this is just a therory. JBlaze a grandma style bait is a brand name of a bait Like rapala is sorry for the confusion a musky fisherman knows what Im talking about. This is all just a guess nothing has been practiced I think I will investigate this a little further.
  24. just had a thought has any one her ever tried making a cylinder shaped like a brass casing from a 22 cal. ,doesnt have to be that just a cylinder shape like that and use it for a housing for the weight. What I mean is a round shot inside of cylinder and the weight is free to roll left and right inside of the bait. In my mind what this would do is change the center of balance of the bait from left to right ontop of making the bait top heavy. This may make the bait track off from left to right and start hunting. This is just a theory in my mind and may not work I have never tried this out for myself. Any comments on this theory....
