  1. You cant take anything away from him those are some nice looking baits . very very nice...
  2. I would like to see this guys baits were do I need to go to?
  3. Thank you mark on the name of the sinker we were posting at the same time same thought , scary isnt it.
  4. Diemai you could take a egg sinker and peg it on the line and then you can move it up and down to give you different lengths if that is what your looking for. They also make a type of sinker, for the life of me I cant remeber the name of it, but its shaped like a egg sinker but it it goes on like a split shot. This weight has a rubber insert inside the weight. Someone please tell me the name of this weight, but any way you can take this weight on and off and it comes in all sizes.
  5. I just wanted to let you all know that my cleaner shop isnt working out. I was in the garage working on a 3 hp boat motor, I had the carb off cleaning it out and I couldnt find the carb cleaner. I knew where it used to be but now that I put everything away I dont know where I put it. Go figure I think Im going back to the old filing system.
  6. Hats off to stonecoal and pete, now who else has pics.
  7. diemai depending on the lure size you can take a bait right to the bottom just like the botttoma bottom bouncer. Give enough leader(flex leader) between the sinker and the lure you can make a kind of carolina rig out of it and drag it across the bottom just watch for the snags.
  8. Diemai I have in the past made special leaders for musky fishing with egg sinkers fixed torwards the the line tie of the leader. Sometimes you have a shallow running bait you like but wont run deep enough. Clip on this leader and it will drag it down to the depth you need. Experiment with the weight and you will find a happy medium. The leader really doesnt affect the bait as much as you think since the weight is not attached on the lure but the leader itself. I use this in trolling as well as casting works well for me.
  9. It seems that I read or someone has told me that polyurethane and etex dont mix well. Ive never tried this because of that. I dont know if its true or not, love to hear the facts.
  10. Daymon youre pretty close to mine, Im trying to find some old pics then you will see who is the master.
  11. Philb Ive never used this type of glue for baits , does this glue have any reaction with e-tex lite when clearing? This is on the same line of glue as gorilla glue right? Like to try something new but needsome info.
  12. Too late she looked at my post.
  13. You have to seal your baits so that water dosnt soak in. Once water soaks in you have to let the wood dry and it takes days for that to happen. Water will cause wood to crack and it also adds weight to your baits when it soaks in and trying to figure out weight at this time is imposiable.
  14. your at the right place to learn. Just use the search function and start soaking in the wealth of info that is here. Here is another site you can look at it has some designs and steps for lure building Lurebuilding 101.
  15. $40 dollars for a bait.... Im ashamed to say but Ive paid $70 for a custom musky bait and I"ll do it again:lol:, just dont tell my wife:pissed:
  16. There is nothing like setting your split ring pliers down and then you have to go and buy a new pair because you get pissed off and cant find them.I should really get organized, I went to my buddys house and you should see his garage. His garage makes me sick, everything in place, organized and labels on everything. I just wanted to empty some tool boxes on the tool bench and rip all his tools that are neatly hanging on peg boards and throw them in the floor.Im just joking, you should see him though when he comes over to my shop fear hits him. He wants to pick up you can see it in his eyes.I wish I had a picture before I cleaned up, who has the guts to show us your mess.
  17. The other day I was in the garage and decided to clean it out. My garage is my work shop and when cleaning I found a radial arm saw on a stand that I forgot I had. How do you forget you had a saw like that in your shop. When I would do anything it always take me longer to find something or worse I would have something and set it down and gone never to be seen again.I wish I would have took a picture of the shop before so I can show you mass confusion. I would like to see who has the worst shop here so that I dont feel so bad.
  18. JR you are the man..... Love your work
  19. Juggernaut I t some of my hooks when musky fishing. If you take the belly hook on a wider profile musky bait you will notice if you lay the hooks flat against the belly two of the hooks on the trebel ethier digs the side of the bait or lays flat against the bait.So if you take pliers and bend the two hooks that are rubbing the bait and bend them out, the hooks should look like a t shape when you look at them. I do this more for better hook ups on wider baits that the hooks dont stick out past the sides of the bait. When you t them the hooks arent laying against your bait but sticking out a little more and a better chance to sink them in.

jerry its good to here from a fellow "eer" looks to be a good season.I will get on top of the membership, I have to buy a new printer first I cant print anything off right now but school is starting and the kids need a new one anyway. Just wanted to say this is a great site, I hear people talking about going elsewere because it is free but all they will find is the bragging boards. These are the boards where people want you to look at what they can do but not help anyone who needs it. The last board ,that I use to be on, linked me here when someone asked a question on finishing baits. Then I said to myself these guys wouldnt take 5 minutes to help someone and passed the buck to another site man these guys suck.So I checked out your site found some friends, wealth of info, and better yet a home that I call tackle underground.
  21. Just remember that just because something says airbrush paint doesnt mean that you wont have to thin it a bit. properly thinned paint and the proper air pressure is needed. practise , practise and when you think you have it practice a little bit more. And I will give you some advise when you start to paint your baits for the first time spray your base colors down, clear and then try to spray small details. If you mess up, and you will at first ,you can wipe your bait clean and start over on the detail and not make a huge mess with the base coats.

I dont think I feel that comfortable giving that kind of info out to use paypal. I guess I will have to do it by mail. I might be wrong thing to do but I dont like the idea of giving bank or credit card numbers out on the net even though its on a secure sight .

just wanted to say thank you to the owners of this site for the useage of this site that I used for so long. Im currently not a pay member yet,but soon will be. I hear so many complaints, but no thank yous for the free privalages that you still offer. Times are tuff and money is tighter now for everyone including the man who pays for this site and I just wanted to let you know the wealth of info and friends that I made here you cant put a price tag on.I will be honest I dont know why I havent paid my dues yet, I need to do that sorry.
  25. I guess the use of braid is ones own personal opinion but they will have to pry my braid from my cold dead fingers before I will give it up. Hook ups on musky versus landing fish there was a big difference after I switched. The trollers of the musky world would give you a good argument on use of mono over braid . There are pros and cons of both lines but for me its braid baby.....
