  1. Pete, had an idea that have used in the past to get deeper sealer penetration. It involves a mason jar, lid, and a brake bleed.Place the bait in the jar with sealer in and have a hose comming from the lid to the bleed and start sucking the air out of the jar. You will see bubbles come from your bait, but this is not where you get the deep penetration its when you release and let the air back into the jar, the sealer gets sucked into the bait.
  2. Mark it could be worse, it could have been a one letter word.

    Rapiotail

    WOW!!! I like it.
  7. Is your bait wobbling at all? Or is it spiralling out of control? when I make my rattle baits I weight in the head of the bait. Try adding the weight behind the eye to infront of your line tie. Trial and error is what it will take to find the right weight.

  10. Mark, I think you might of misunderstood me when I said thin. I ment lightly coat the bait, just enough to give a good coat, and not pile on alot of etex. I dont thin etex either and dont really want to. Etex works just fine for me they way it is. the key for me is mix, mix, mix, mix,mix and then cover and let set to the side for 20 or so minutes before useing. Did I mention mix etex, be sure to follow the mix time on the box, no less.
  11. When using etex thin coats is the key. When you coat to heavy you get runs on lips, eyelets and hook hangers. Also when you brush on too thick the dry time is way to long. The dryer runs almost all night before the epoxy sets up enough to turn the motor off, instead of a couple hours with thin coats. Put on second coat when etex becomes tacky, that way the two layers will bond to each other.
  12. Im with mark on this one. Ive tried a heat source and didnt like the end result. Ive never tried the light bulb theory though. I also years ago took a rod building class and the instructor had a rig made for drying his rods, it was made out of plex glass and a small light. He clames that it works.
  13. nice dryer Dave. Your not the only one here that makes mistakes, trust me I know first hand.

    Hello Again

Its been awhile since Ive been online due to the work load at the job. I miss talking to all you guys and wanted to say hello once again. There has been no time for lure building and fishing due to the lay offs and things has been alittle tough trying to carry the extra load. Ive told myself that I need to get back here among friends and in the shop to burn some of the stress.Well once again... HELLO ALL!!!!!!!!

  21. The sliding weighted lure swims very nice and I can clearly hear the sound of the weight shifting . Your suggestion of the metal temporary lip is a great idea and Ive used this in the past to find difficult angles on some baits. Maybe try a steeper lip angle with the combo of aslightly wider lip.I think if you move the weight a little deeper to center of the bait this may help also. If you canget this bait to swim like your other bait you still may have some trouble with the weight of the hooks on the back. In the video there wasnt any side to side swim on this bait with the hooks on the back and if you get this bait to finally wiggle this is where you may run into some trouble( hope not) with the weight on the spine. THere is no wiggle action right now to cause the tipping efffect. This is a very nice looking bait and im sure you will get this bait running Before moving anything try ripping the bait in deeper water, this is what you were talking about how you where wanting to fish this bait earlier in the post, it may run perfectly for this type of fishing. good luck and let me know the progress of your bait. You have my mind wondering of different options.
