  1. Does the "kill spot" look like a spot to the fish?? .........when you are burning the bait?? I'm wandering what the fish sees with the bait in motion. Different speeds would add more confusion as would different bait styles..........more roll.....tighter ocsilation tail to nose etc. Suspending baits with no movement the spot would actually look like a spot otherwise I think it would "look" like a black line depending the direction of the baits "main" oscilation
  2. I have tried the acetone to thin the D2T but favored the denatured alcohol, I thin a quarter size mix on the bottom of a coke can with 3 to 4 drops. I do think that I'm not getting the heat set I need but things are gonna change. Thanks for all of you guys help. Vern
  3. Downriver, I believe you've hit the nail on the head !!! Can you explain the heat curing process. Thanks To All without this site life would very tuff for me & many more.
  4. Thanks for the help. The odd thing I've noticed is the "blemish" is in the same spot on two baits, between the belly hook hanger & the tail hook hanger. I've also had some "dry" spots pop up even after carefully clear coating, could the D2T be covering a dry spot & not adhering to the paint, even thou I can't see it??
  5. I found a couple of my paint jobs "tainted" . Looks like water under the D2T clear coat. I think that the box I had them in once had some salty handpoured worms in it. My question is will the salt or oil from soft plastic re-act with the d2T & cause a "blemish" ?? I'm dipping propionate then painting with createx and clearing with D2T on balsa if that info makes a difference to the process.
  6. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it. Vern
  7. Duck season is here & I was looking over some of the feathers on ducks I'd bagged, there are some nice small white feather on the underside of the wings. My question is has anybody used duck feathers on their jigs?? I thought the size of the feathers were right for crappie sized baits.
  8. I still have a handful; could send one for reference. Looking to buy 50 or so. the bait is about 3/8" dia & 2 3/4" long.
  9. I need to re-stock my 2 3/4 inch tubes in Milky Pepper but I've not been able to find anything. I think these came fron "Budz Fishing Ways" but I have not been able to find them either any help will be greatly appreciated. Vern
  10. has anyone tried making a chatterbait blade from lexan ??? will it work??
  11. The information is here, just taks it in. I had never made a crankbait but in a few months I've been catching fish with my home brewed crank. I would have never done it without the help of those T.U. members who share their knowledge. Thanks guys thanks-a-million

  14. I'm wanting to create a bait that hunts, Thanks for the help. You guys are amazing
  15. What's the reasoning for selecting one type of wire over the others??
  16. Thanks for your help with this question and the hundreds of others that you've already answered. Thanks a million Vern
  17. I'm a newbie to making baits, I havn't found if there's a certain type and/or cut favorable to making a great balsa crankbait. While I'm on this topic is there a certain direction that the wood grain should run in relationship to the bill angle ?? would it be favorable to make the bait in halves with the wood grain angled 45 to 90 degrees to each other???
  18. Sometimes the splash will call the bass from under cover like matted weeds esp. with a top water floater but you have to be patient enough to give the fish time to find it & more time to decide to eat it...........alot of fisherman will "dead-stick" a worm but no other bait. Most of the time they've be "bombed" so many times they gone before the bait is totally wet. LOL. Vern
