  1. Some interesting replies so far - I've been pretty busy lately, but will be pouring some more over the weekend so I'll definitely try turning the pour rod with a screwdriver and I really like the sound of the open-ended box to reduce splatter. That dang tunafish can just isn't cutting it by itself. Thanks guys!
  2. I'm using ingots that are "clean" lead - although I do still have to skim the top as it starts to crud up a bit. Maybe there is an effective way to clean out the tip? I was looking at the RCBS melter and wonder if users have had the same problem with that one?
  3. Does a pour pot exist that doesn't drip? I have the 10lb and 20lb Lee pots and they both drip, excessively in my opinion. I'm realtively new to this game and perhaps I'm doing something wrong causing the lead to drip, but it is annoying, frustrating, and dangerous. I have to keep an empty tunafish can underneath to catch the drips, and move it periodically so that the lead doesn't pile up or splash when it drips. Any help or advice would be great! Thanks.
  4. I'm looking to make a bulk order of the Do-It Screw Locks and thought I'd ask you guys where you've found the best price per 1000. If there is a board sponsor, of course, that would be great. Thanks in advance!
  5. I've seen those molds -they are amazing. I'm new to this game and cant drop that kind of coin on a mold right now. I'll be satisfied with my 1oz. SB's in the mold that I have access to - they're a proven winner for me. Thanks!
  6. Thank you all for the responses. Actually, these spinnerbaits will be used in search of big brown fish and perhaps some LMB also. I would prefer pre-bent wire, but all I've seen you still have to bend the loop for the swivel/blade connection. That is the tool that I am looking to find. I don't want to get into bending my own wire just quite yet. The hooks I am considering are the Gamakatsu small eye nickel round bend "830-602" on page 35 of the 2008 Netcraft catalog to be used with the SJ-3H-L mold. I will be sure to check out the other links and companies you all have provided. Thank you.
  7. Hello Tackleunderground! I'm a new member and I've been reading threads here for some time and decided to enter the underground. I am new to making jigs, jig heads, and spinnerbaits and hope to expand at some point. I am looking for some advice on spinnerbait making. I am going to be pouring 1oz. spinnerbaits. I want to use the best quality components available. I will be looking for swivels, wire, and colorado blades in the #5 (no smaller) size. What is the best tool for bending the wire? What swivels do you prefer? I want to use a high quality, LONG shank 5/0 hook. Any sources or preferences, tips and or advice would be great. Thank you all for this great resource.
