  1. Hey Shane,, I hope to pour again mid week,, will give feed back..
  2. I use a lable I make on works and print it out on paper, 8 per page, then use a copy machine and copy a bunch on a heavier stock.. not card stock but it mite be cover stock.. then have to cut um out.. then fold over and staple to the bag.. that mite take longer than a sticker lable. packaging is time consuming. I use different colors on different baits. Makes the display rack look kinda neat..and it makes the different baits stand out from each other.
  3. I have to work all weekend,, but the 1st of the week I will try some things you all have posted.. I have 3 stick molds so I will set one up on a slight angle and try topping off heavy on the others and see what happens, thanks to all
  4. Mr. Bilky, yes ,I have a dimple above each bait when I pull um out.. the topping off must be the problem,,I will give that a try.. just strange that 80% or so of them come out great..Maybe as I get to the 2nd or 3rd cav. the temp of the plastic has dropped enough to cause the top of the bait to set up..( as you said ) I usually will reheat the pyrex & stir after apx. -3- cavities. 152nd with the thing mold from Del it has apx. a 1" funnel above each cavity, so when you fill the cav. to the top of the mold you have poured apx. 1" more plastic on top of the bait.. with this mold no topping off is needed, just fill to the top and wha la,, as it sucks down it doesn't get to the bait.
  5. The mold I have is Dels and I do not have to top them off,, ( or should I be topping off ? most of the sticks come out great with out topping ) I make sure I fill it as full as poss. When I pull them out of the mold and cut off the extra, you can not see the air pocket, the top 1/4" of the bait is solid,, then apx a 1/2 -3/4 " air pocket, then the rest of the bait is good,I check these after they set a few minutes by pressing on the bait with my finger , you can tell where the pockets are.The air pocket is always in the same spot..apx. 1/4" from the top. Most of the them do not have the pocket.I try to pour rite down the center. If I see a lump go in the mold I just quit that bait and move to the next.. thanks for the quick replies.
  6. almost Every mold I pour I have maybe 1 stick with the top inch being hollow..most of them turn out fine.. alum. mold hand pour pyrex microwave using salt what am I doing wrong?? pouring to fast ?? plastic to cold ??
  7. try this,,,, pull on the bait at each end just a tad , when the bait is stretched out just a little, then trim the end with a razor blade or scissors.
  8. YES,,,, check out cafeteria's,, Pizza & sub places ect.. there are different gallon jugs with wide mouth,, But the Miricle Whip has a handle!!! if you can not find any let me know I mite be able to get some..
  9. The gallon jugs I use are from Kraft Miricle Whip. they have an apx. 6" opening where the lid goes.. works awsome.....
  10. Yes, put it into 1 gal. stir and seperate as soon as poss. The longer you wait the more you will have to stir!!!! I use a paint stir on a drill for the 5 gal.
  11. Awsome,, what are ya think-in on size ??? 4-5 pounds ??
  12. I can not personaly give you a ratio,, that plastic is for salt water, so its hard.. you are going to have to get an idea from some one else or just play with it.. maybe start with 2 oz of softner to 8 oz. plastic and see what that is like and ajust from there. no salt means you can use less softner.. if you add salt you need more softner.
  13. Ted, thats way cool.. dude... good luck with it.. you were telling me that big things were going to happin in 09 for you.. Jeff
  14. Welcome,, well you have a tough question there... --------- depends on what bait your making..... and how much salt your using..... and what plastic your using..... ---- give us a little more info and we can help out..
  15. Charmer, I could use the info to for ..F.M. Thanks Much hocoinwiz@cmsinter.net
  16. Tylerd, Some times money is not the reason to do things.. if your having fun,, thats all you need,, if you only got 2 bucks a pound into it..then your price sounds good.
  17. Tylerd, I would figure out how many baits you can get out of a 4 oz. batch. and make that your min. of each color.. I get a little more for 2 color baits.. ( example- put 1 colors baits in packs of 10-12 and put 2 color baits in packs of 8-10 and charge the same per pk.)you also need to get started some where.. so its your call..learn as you go.. take in all the info we have posted and do what works best for you.. --- When I figure my cost.. I figure... Plastic,, softner & or hardner,,salt,, color,,,scent,, Glitter,,oil & packaging.... --- scent is exspensive,,the highest cost of all additives,, so use sparingly..but I prefer to always use scent.. ----- for the glitter , softner, hardner, oil, salt, scent,, I price by the teaspoon or table spoon,,,, for color, by the drop.. use an empty color bottle and fill with water and see how many drops of water you get,,, after you get your cost figured,, you can average the cost of batches out.. because some batches use more or less of the additives,,so find a good average cost per batch.. ----- if you are buying plastic by the gallon,, oils, glitters & scents ect,,by the pint colors by the 1-2 oz. I would guess $ 2.00 for a 4 oz. batch.. thats with scent, color,, oil,,,glitter,,plastic,,softner & or hardner.. plus add for packaging.. ------
