Pig,
see if the smell of the plastic changes as you cook it..
it should stay the same in odor. if the smell changes after it gets thin then it mite be over cooked..stir it good between heatings too, to stop hot spots..

This is a good thread. Glad to hear the replys. I have a few customers that feel my Phat-eez are to soft.. And I like & want to hear the comments of my customers, good or bad. The feed back is a good thing. But I need to decide to keep um this soft or make um firmer..I think that no matter how any bait is.. there will be people that like it and people that do not..I like the soft stuff my self..

very nice guys..
you are correct that them 2 colors would not show a good lam with a picture.
but the combo will catch fish.
also, for the baits being perfect.. that only maters to the people you show um to,,NOT to the fish..
Fish could care less if they are made just rite..
keep at it..

If I go light on salt in the main bait,, the skirt will pull to the top..
but it takes a few seconds to do so..
with the normal amount of salt the bait will lay on the bottom and hold the skirt down.
this is with no hooks or weight..just testing the bait itself in a bucket of water.
I do use a good dose of salt.. and they do sink.. but , I have been playing with the amount of salt & I was surprized at how much salt you need to make um sink good,,The skirts do not have any salt & they kinda work like an umbrella and more salt is needed with skirted baits.. what else happens is... with a lot of salt you need to add more color & softner to compensate for the salt...I just was thinking that if there was a plastic that did not float then you could use less salt,, softer & color..
just a thought??
Thats my deal too... I always use weight on my rigs, So the weightless fall rate is not an issue with me.. But.. Some of the guys using my baits fish weightless.. and a floating bait is not good for that..My Fat Ika Knock Offs are the main deal on the weightless rig,,
this is a touch off topic,, sorta,,,
and has been asked before I am sure,,
but..
do all brands of plastic float ???
mainly the softer stuff...
I use Lure Craft and it floats like a bobber,,
