  1. I have done this with a single hook in the rear 2 different ways. The first was attached directly to the internal wire and pushed in to a large enough hole to accept the eye. I filled the hole with epoxy. The hook faced up like it would on a paddle tail soft plastic on a lead jig head. It works quite well for sinking lures that you want to drag on the bottom. The second way was with a short shank hooked up the traditional way. I bent the hook a little, in the middle of the shaft and mounted it so the point was up, so that when the lure is running horizontal, with the hook straight out, the point is lower in profile than the highest point on the top of the lure. This one I like most because I can burn it thru thick cover. I still have this one out in the tackle box. If I remember I will bring it in tomorrow to take a pic for ya. Sonny
  2. Im not sure what the air cans cost to replace but that brush looks exactly like the one Harbor Freight has for $9.99. I got one for $4.99 a few weeks ago with a coupon.
  3. Mark That is an interesting idea. I have thought of using a magnet and a steel dowel pin for a "shift after casting" weight.
  4. I had this happen on a certain brand sub-surface walker......I turned the front treble around 180 degrees and it fixed the problem. May not work for you as it will possibly add a hook rash problem on your bait. Although it seems like the easiest thing to try first.
  5. Walmart is using a commercial for their prescription drug sales showing an old guy fishing with his grandson. Makes me sick to know that they are donating all that money to anti-fishing groups and eliminating the tackle sections in the stores. They lost me for life. Even if they change their ways I wont go back.
  6. I may give it a try. Every time I shape a lexan lip I scratch the heck out of it and it looks like crap before I even cast it the first time. The g-10 is opaque and might actually look a little better. As for the guys who think they wont catch anything if the lip isnt clear, they need to talk to the guys who fish in the salt. Plenty of saltwater lures have aluminum and stainless steel bibs on them. Infact, this is sparking an idea. What do you think of a red bib? Thanks for McMaster tip.... I will give that a read..... Sonny
  7. I am a mechanical designer and have worked with G-10 before. I never thought of using it for this purpose but that does make sense. It is tough stuff and can wear out milling machines, cutters, and drills pretty quick. Be careful with the dust..... Dont know if this is useful to anyone but I do know that if you coat it with varnish on any of the surfaces you have machined or sanded it will stick like the devil and look real pretty.
  8. I had a great day!!!! It is 24 hours later and I still cant move. I hope all of you had a happy Thanksgiving. (Especially during these crappy times)
  9. Why do you folks use the fiber based materials and not the clear lexan? Just curious..... Sonny
  10. Same here. Just cranks and stuff that doesnt need a big loop. It isnt real shiny and epoxy sticks to it better than the chrome looking stuff. I wouldnt use it on a Stretch 25 LOL
  11. If your building the Alabama rig you do not want the spooled wire from Harbor Freight as it is too soft for that application. Try the harder stuff that comes in 1 foot straight lengths as it will spring back when flexed. You can get a package of 100 for about $10 From McMaster-Carr.
  12. I know some of you use Apple Barrel acrylic paints in your airbrush, but has anyone tried the enamels?
  13. This is it http://www.harborfre...-coil-8895.html It was on sale for $4.99 This ad has it for about $8 I still think thats cheap.
  14. also try Harbor Freight if there is one near you. I got a big spool of .041dia. stainless wire for 5 bucks.
  15. LOL you have issues....but that is a premo piece.........
  16. You took an aweful big chance there with some top dollar lures...........If it were me I would have been nervous and sweating on the first one.
  17. Belt sander......? then hand sand. Make sure you eat your wheaties
  18. You have mad skills!!!!!!!!
  19. I messed around with the new external mix brushes tonight and I actually like them. I was able to spray the very same paint that I was failing with in the other Brush. Im not sure if it was the brush or me but these external mix models seem easier for me to use for basic painting as I have very limited painting skills. As far as the trap is concerned, Badger has one that fits the compressor but it is $50. HF had a fewdiferent models for less than half of that but Im not sure which one can adapt to my compressor. I think they have an in-line filter also. Im going to go back with my fittings so I can match up the correct stuff.
  20. Something was wrong with the brush. I put just water in as instructed and it wouldnt spray. I loosened the chuck screw and pulled the needle out less than a hair. This helped it to spray but it was in bursts as opposed to steady flow. I pulled it out just a little more and it cuts out totally. I packed it up and brought it back to HF. No more on the shelf either. They had two of a different model left and I took them both. They were on sale for $7.99 My wife had a flyer in the car with a coupon to get 1 for $4.99 Hopefully this will work better for me...........
  21. Wow the transparent colors look interesting........
  22. It actually looks like something I would want on my boat. I fish saltwater and I have a large Umbrella rig rigged with 4 inch shads. It heavy and gets down pretty deep. I troll it for Blue Fish. The river I fish for Stripers is too shallow for it. This looks like the ticket......
  23. So the Alabama rig is a small umbrella rig?
  24. First off, Thanks for all of this information. My compressor is a Badger and it doesnt have a tank. Can this type still have water issues? The stuff that splats out is very thin looking only like tinted water. It doesnt look like paint. Some Americana brand green wiped right off of the base coat of Americana brand white. Leaving no trace of itself. So it isnt acting like paint. I did run the paint thru a strainer but it isnt as tight as pantyhose. Maybe I can ask the little woman if I can have hr old pantyhose. This is going to go over well. LOL I wonder if this is why the designer named his bait a sexy shad?
